NO one is "saved".
When a person claims to be "saved", they make the claim that THEY have decided that they are going to Heaven - and NOT God. They are putting themselves above God - and that is blasphemy.

The post didn't say the disciples 'claimed' their were saved. You are so full of arguments it is astounding.

I've often wondered this myself.
My guess is that they were saved (except Judas) but not born again until Pentecost.

I think they were saved before the resurrection.

The words in these scriptures were spoken by JESUS before the resurrection.

In my understanding, God does not exist "in time". (With those limitations.) We look at the events in history and see a timeline, but for God there is no timeline. Past, present, future are all laid out before him equally. What happened at the cross - that redemption for those who profess Christ - reaches backward into time as well as forward. Just something neat to think about.

Well they all believed that Jesus was the promised Messiah. They did not receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit until after the resurrection. They received power through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

Technically they were saved in the upper room when Jesus breathed on them the Holy Spirit. At least in the sense that we see salvation in the NT.

They were called under the OT and believed the OT scriptures which led them to the salvation they received after Jesus resurrected. I would say that they all had doubts until the resurrection.

My definition of disciples would extend beyond the eleven who we know as apostles.

Luke 19:9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.10"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

The answer is absolutely BEFORE

Jesus descipes were being saved

Peter had to get rid of his character defects one by one

Jesus told hm WHEN you are converted, then teach the lambs

so they were FORGIVEN yes
but not SAVED FROM ALL SINS YET

being saved means
being saved from sinning anymore

and it is a path
a christian walk

by Jesus blood you are forgiven and perfectly pure, but only by his blood and constant prayer will every character defect be removed
this is by trials

thasts why we are given trials

everyday pray
and you are clean in Jesus blood
if you die, then you are saved from sin

if you dont die

you could bow your top or drin a beer.and you wouldnt be saved from sinning yet cause you just sinned
but going to JEsus yo are forgiven and clean and if you die, again you are saved from ever sinning again

when you are DEAD that is when you are saved from ever sinning again
and when your feet are in HEAVEN then that is when you are saved from ever sinning again

meanwhile we are JUSTIFIED AND PURE IN THE BLOD

walk by faith in the blood you are secure in Jesus blood as long as you are faithful which for me is forever

I will not give up Jesus but when tired I sometimes make a mistake
and sin
and I have to go to JEsus in tears and of course am forgiven
but perfected without ever sinning again?
saved from ever sinning again

no you are not
not yet
Secure in JEsus

yes we are
if we die we will be saved

but tomorrow you could loose it for a moment

sanctifications is a ladder each day more like JEsus
if you die then you are saved from ever sinning again

get it?

that is the real gospel

Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
Luke 22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
Luke 22:33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
Luke 22:34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

at this point peter was NOT SAVED FROM SINNING!

JEsus said he would sin one more big time and deny him he was not converted yet
soon he would be

This is an interesting question indeed. It may be that they have to wait until the resurrection to be trully saved by the grace of God.

Though I find the 24 Elders of Revelation to be interesting which might indicate they are all ready saved.

The question assumes nobody was saved before Jesus' resurrection. This is clearly false.

What is your problem, dude? Is this why you're so much 'fun' on CC?

Was Jesus' disciples saved before or after the resurrection of Christ?
Hebrews 6:1 Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God,

Technically they were saved when they decided to follow Jesus and he became their covering. They were under his divine care. He was their Lord way before the resurrection. Even in their natural state they made a choice to follow Jesus and he accepted them if you want to speak technically.

I see what you're saying, but I think it would be clearer to say that everyone prior to the crucifixion were saved through the cross- even though it had not happened yet.

Not to criticize the OP, but this is semantics. Either everyone prior to the crucifixion were saved at the crucifixion (even though they had already lived their lives and died). Or they were saved prior to the crucifixion based on God' foreknowledge of the cross. We are washed in the blood of Christ and saved only through Him.

I will note, however, that Matt 27:52 ([SUP]50 [/SUP]And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. [SUP]51 [/SUP]And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. [SUP]52 [/SUP]The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; [SUP]53 [/SUP]and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many.) calls them saints before Jesus' body was even taken down from the cross. The word saint (as far as it is translated in the NASB) is only used 7 times in the OT. While I found it interesting that "saints" was used in this way, my previous statement still stands - whether they were saved at the cross of prior based on the fact that the crucifixion would occur, they were saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

GraceLikeRain had a very good comment regarding this. If God is not bound by time - it's kind of irrelevant.
