Claiming means saying that something belongs to you? Like I have 2 thumbs?

Does The Holy Spirit belong to one or does one belong to The Holy Spirit?

And I ask "claiming"? because ya hear that used today much, as in claiming the blood, claiming Jesus, claiming the power, etc, etc.

I do not read in Scripture anything of a believer "claiming", especially how it is so misused today.

Well I made a mistake I cannot claim the power of the Holy Spirit obviously, my words were misused but then again the Pharisees did not know they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit either, the Holy Spirit empowers us like someone here said, and that is what I meant. I used the wrong words and now I shall be judged for it.

Jay, have faith...you have in no way blasphemed against The Holy Spirit, to blaspheme against The Holy Spirit is to accuse The Holy Spirit of being of Evil origins.
You have not done this. Remember..Jesus is Lord, can you say this still from your heart? if so then you're okay!

1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Mat 12:32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

you did not speak against The Holy Spirit
Have a good Christmas:)

The reason I said that is to point out that there is no fault. You can't blaspheme against the Holy Spirit without intent, and what you did wasn't blaspheming the Holy Spirit in the first place. I don't see the problem, just a misuse of words.

This reminds me of a time somebody said to me "I am the executioner of so-and-so". Does that mean that they killed so-and-so, or they killed people for so-and-so? It was for a game, but the point is that words are funny.

Jesus is Lord. I can say that that means I still have the Holy Spirit perhaps but where in the Bible does it say the Holy Spirit abandons you if you blaspheme Him?

I think you need Scriptural understanding regarding what it is to Blaspheme The Holy Spirit.

The only unforgivable sin is to not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and therefore one is condemned already..

John 3:18.."He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

The Bible does not have to spell it out....if The Holy Spirit is blasphemed by someone who He is with, do you think He is going to stick around? I don't think so.
If you are still unconvinced and if The Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead does not testify with your spirit, then all I can suggest is that you seek the face of The Lord on your knees until you receive an answer.

That is true why would the Holy Spirit try to continue to bring someone to God if the person has no hope? Would the Holy Spirit waste His time with them?

Then again maybe the Holy Spirit just stays with blasphemers so that they can do some good before they are sent to hell?

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit can't be done accidently or out of ignorance. God wouldn't have given you an unforgivable sin that you could do accidently. Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is a life choice, a conscious decision, and is born out of anger, pride, etc. When the Pharisee's told people that Jesus was actually using demonic powers and that the Holy Spirit was evil, they CHOSE to blaspheme the Holy Spirit to spite Jesus and to give him a bad rep. They chose not to accept that Jesus was doing good and attributed all His works to evil. Claiming you have the power of the Holy Spirit isn't blaspheming it. We can use the power of the HOly Spirit, and some people will say they have powers the Holy Spirit gave them. So yes, maybe you used poor wording to describe what the Holy Spirits power is within us, but you didn't blaspheme it.

We are the hands, the feet and the mouths of Jesus on this earth. He said we have his power by saying his name. We are to heal and cast out demons. When you speak about power you just know the power comes from God. Give the glory to God. Lets say God tells me to go lay hands on someone and they are healed. The power comes from God. But I obeyed him and I let his power come out of my body. We are here for the glory of God. We give all the credit to him. With out him we have no power. The power comes from us believing he has the power. We pray in Jesus name, we heal in Jesus name. Jesus is not looking around every corner to condemn you as you are learning about him.
Well said.

Meh, now isn't really the time for joking for me. My eternal soul is on the line here and I think I may be ****ed to hell and you people are laughing about it :(
Why is it so hard for people to answer a simple question for the man?
But I already answered his question with a lengthy analysis complete with Bible verses and it sounds as if no one has even bothered to read it :( Besides, most people who are "arguing" are arguing on syntax.

Well whenever the Bible talks about blasphemy of the Holy Spirit it always uses this term "Blasphemy AGAINST the Holy Spirit" or "speaking AGAINST the Holy Spirit" so this leads me to believe it's different from normal blasphemies, what does "blasphemy against" mean? Can anyone find the biblical definition for "against" ?

This is a translation of the case of the word Holy Spirit (pneumatos). Unlike most English nouns, Greek nouns have different forms that tell the speaker or reader what function they play in the sentence. In this instance, it is the genitive, probably the objective genetive, showing that the object of the blasphemy is the Spirit. The word blasphemy being a strong word, the translation "against" is appropriate.
