James 2:27 'pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to go to church, pay your tithes, and give offerings when it's the pastors birthday, anniversary, appreciation day, when he needs another vacation, a new cad, and a trip to Jerusalem. ........NOT, NADA, NOPE, UH UH. Take another look at this verse:

'pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, ...wait for it, wait for it, put your seat belt on....here comes....is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction.

visit:Greek: episkeptomai: here it comes, wait for it.....wait for it....'to care for, come to help, look out for, show concern.'

And don't tell me that your church gives a sack of groceries to a widow worth 20 dollars after and only after she coughed up 80 dollars worth of tithes on her monthly check. Did I mention the word corruption along with the word defiled?
How did that verse go....pure(true, innocent) religion and undefiled?
Note the word innocent, harmless....not abusing the poor or widows....like the modern 'church' does. Don't tell me about the one you know of that doesn't defraud the poor....the majority do with impunity. 40 years now I know what I'm talking about.

Corrupting(peddling) Christianity is rampant. At the flash point. God is bringing judgement on the house (ekklesia) of God for this (defilement) and theft. Who's robbing who? Will a man rob God by robbing the widows(devouring widows houses)?

The stench has reached heaven. God will not let this go unchallenged.

now, I will say that to my knowledge my Church is not like the ones you described. we do give out and we do not beg for money or mis- use Malachi to guilt tithing. but I have been to and heard about ones that do just what you said. my opinion of the modern Church is not as bad as yours, but it ain't good either.

Like I said. We've been around the block some. The falsehood and abuse is devastating.

Yet, I think you'll like this article: Cross Focus: FIVE POINTS of REVOLUTION -by Darren Smith.

And yes, to 'visit' the orphan and widow isn't necessarily literal but means what you wrote: "to care for, come to help, look out for, show concern." It means 'to be aware of, remember, acknowledge, and act' on their behalf.

And no, God is not happy about any of it. It's convenient Christianity, but it isn't what Jesus suffered and died for nor is it His reward.

U r right as rain Allen. You wanna know what's devastating? The lost can see this corruption and they laugh, and rightly so. It is as clear as the pimple on the end of your nose to the unredeemed but the corporate 'church' ?.....no clue. That's frightening.
There are many good men and women who have been sowing their tears and grief in isolation and rejection, I mean for decades, forget years, longing for God to bring reformation, a complete dismantling of what we adoringly call 'church' ( note how I put the word church in italics. The word is a mistranslation).
See: truthforfree.com. And awildernessvoice.com. And wickedshepherds.com. This last sight name is a bit strong for I believe not every minister with the title is wicked but simply misdirected by the traditions of man....I was for years also, till I dug deeper into His word to find out what the duce is going on with the 'church' system. Please check these sites out for further study.

Excellent Post

Jesus strongly condemned those defiled and corrupt churches in Matthew 25:31-46 and Revelation 3:15-18.

My Father thought the church was there to beg for money until he became the treasurer of the church. He then did an about face and constantly apologized for what he thought before he had that position.

God is pulling a remnant out of organized religion. Are you part of that remnant?

What percentage of churches in your area are guilty of this?

I find all this church bashing to be repugnant. Jesus did not come to create organized religion. Jesus came to purchase a people for His name sake. Jesus came and shed His blood to save men from the condemnation of sin. The church is a body of believers. the church is the bride of Christ adorned in righteousness for His glory.

We are admonished in Hebrews not to forsake the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some. Even when the NT was being written there were folks who distained the church. It is not lost on the world that while you carp against the church you go to the supermarket or the sports arena with these same folks and spend your money to be entertained or stuff your pie hole but you won't put a dime in the offering plate to help another in the Lord.

If things are so bad then why don't you fix them instead of just being bitter and mean spirited toward those who do go to church seeking fellowship in the Lord.

Roger, you find these people here because they have failed in churches. Surprisingly the church doesn't follow their rubbish and criticism.
I love the way all churches are grouped together as not looking after the poor, etc, etc.
Been to them all have you, Yet?

This is exactly why I asked about the percentage. It's very easy to label them all as such. But rarely do people do the research themselves to validate they're broad generalization.

Yes, I am part of that remnant, but we are looking at the roots of our faith. As soon as the organized church today hears that word roots they read it as saying to listen to all of God, even that of what God teaches in the OT and scream and holler "cult" "going to use only shadows" and any mean thing they can say, just from the word "roots".

The first temple was destroyed and the Hebrews that lost the temple tried to reconstruct the temple idea in their worship in Babylon by using synagogues. They forgot about the sacrifices that were the best they could do to use the blood of Christ. It was in the book of Ezra we can read how God was brought back into worship. We have something much better than is in the book of Ezra, we have the real blood of Christ and Christ as our High Priest to use, Ezra had only the shadow. We have the Holy Spirit besides. We should be able to do better, now. Yet we are tossing out all the rest of what that book teaches. Just say the word "law" on cc, and the outrage you get is like the outrage that comes with the word "roots". Just ask Christians to only live, day to day and hour by hour for the Lord, and they say we have freedom through Christ to live as we please.

What does one do for fellowship if they are not part of a congregation? I personally know some who have pulled away and they don't have fellowship with anyone, I hear them say, I don't need man but God.

I understand what your saying, but what your seeing is not the Church, modern church maybe. The Church can not be defiled, Jesus said " I will build my Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Another thing to keep in mind is the pastor and it's structure doesn't define the church. The people do. In my opinion, what the pastor says or does is secondary to the spiritual work done in the people outside of the ~2hrs spent at "church". (And bear in mind, I'm a pastor myself)

When you isolate yourself or disassociate yourself from community, you lose a great opportunity to bless others, and to be blessed by them.

Can someone please explain to me why there are so many threads like this? ppl make threads about how sinful the church is or assume that they know how ppls hearts are. What makes you think other churches are like this? You havent met most of them or the ppl in it yet you say these horrible things?
