I watched a video the other day, without realizing what it was going to show... I watched Muslims throw gasoline on a man because he was Christian. They lit him on fire and stood around watching, like it was nothing. They must of Done this a million times before....I watch his body being engrossed in flames, as he's squirming and jumping in torment. His own sister is watching and there's nothing She can do about....Can you imagine watching one of your siblings screaming in pain and agony because their being burnt to death?? I told my mom this true story and she was mortified (she's a Christian). Oh, how people are so EVIL.......Well if this isn't the epitome of evil, I don know what is....but when I told her this is what happens to unbelievers, except for eternity. Weeelll all of a sudden her attitude changes..."God knows what he's doing". WOW!!!!!!! Really???? Throwing someone in a pit of fire is Wrong Wrong Wrong!!! There's no if,ands or maybes. What ever happened to not repaying evil with evil?????? My question is.... How does someone follow a religion so Heinous? This I a serious question...

Jruiz, Jesus said that his faithful followers would be tortured, persecuted and executed for their faith and belief in him. This is but one example of that torture and persecution. Many of us will be killed for our beliefs, unfortunately. And considering that the USA recently acquired thousands of guillotines to kill christians with, I'd say that time is soon to be upon us.

God does not repay evil with evil. God only punishes people while there are in this life and while man can still be corrected, molded, cured. The punishment of God doesn't stretch upon eternity. The punishment that people will feel is in fact the love of God (which is like fire) that they can not stand because they did not learn how to love, they did not emptied themselves of their egoism, they did not become fire. There are people who hate goodness and humbleness. Haven't you noticed? There are people who insult you and prefer that you insult back. If you turn the other cheek, you burn them with your love. What will be heaven for some people, will be hell for some others, just like in the parable if the prodigal son. What was the cause of the sorrow of the older brother when he saw the reception that his little brother got? Did someone throw gasoline on him to torture him?

There is mystery in the human suffering. A monk said that we should thank God when in suffering because times of suffering are truly the hand of mercy that God stretch towards us. But, we are too hedonists to understand it.

Those in the lake of fire will be there forever. The smoke of their torment ascending up forever and ever.

The death of His saints is precious in His sight. The death of the wicked is not so. We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter for His glory.

As terrible as it is for one to be burned alive remember that Jesus is there with him to comfort him.

For the cause of Christ

Hi Jruiz,

God does not torture people, they will not burn forever. The Scriptures say that the wicked will be destroyed not tormented forever.

Thomas Aquinas:
In order that the happiness of the saints may be more delightful to them and that they may render more copious thanks to God for it, they are allowed to see perfectly the sufferings of the damned. . .So that they may be urged the more to praise God. . .The saints in heaven know distinctly all that happens. . .to the damned. [Summa Theologica, Third Part, Supplement, Question XCIV, "Of the Relations of the Saints Towards the Damned," First Article, "Whether the Blessed in Heaven Will See the Sufferings of the Damned. . ."]

The ridiculousness of catholicism never ceases to amaze me.

First, I think it craziness anyone would be capable of believing this nonsense. Second, where is the evidence? Prove that I am wrong to doubt you. Seems we need a modicum of common sense.

When we look to the origins of Christianity this worship of saints is fully understandable. Keep in mind that scholars tell us that Christianity took many forms in the beginning but that Catholicism in the West was the form that one the day. For a millennia and half there were only two forms of Christian belief -- Roman Catholicism and Greek Orthodoxy -- all other forms were stamped out, but the Orthodox have their saints as well. I've read that in a few instances the pagan temples simply had the word Saint tacked onto the name of the old god.

The original followers of Jesus were the Jewish Christians which as a group survived into the 5th century. Their three gospels: Gospel of the Hebrews, Gospel of the Ebionites and the Gospel of the Nazoreans, exist now only in fragments. You won't find saints and you won't find a virgin birth, all of which pagan converts were more than willing to accept.

Interesting.

Eh I'm still on the fence about Hellfire and torment vs. annihilationism.

We just had an extensive discussion on this subject on another board. It went very well as a Bible study rather than a debate. I don't believe the Scriptures support the Eternal Conscious Torment doctrine. There are few passages that seem to suggest that but upon closer look it can be seen that they are saying otherwise. The Scriptures are replete with statements like the wicked shall be destroyed

It was on the news on tv. Google it and you'll see.
Fox or 700 club?
poking around the web, this rumor has been going since 2008-2009.

when Obama was elected, a whole lot of crazy stories started floating around calling themselves "news" and "insider info"

i hope the fact-checking sites are more trustworthy, ha!

Yes, yes... hell is evil.

That's why I believe Hitler should spend all of eternity at Disney Land...
or maybe at a nice Bed & Breakfast with a seaside view.

The moral dilemma the issue raises has been cited by a number of former Christians as causing them doubt. I suppose it's why the concept of Hell has been downplayed by many liberal thinking Christians.
