have you ever wondered why God is always invisible to our eyes and rarely speaks to us outloud? i have never been able to hold him because he is never physiclly here only spiritually. i have heard his voice but only once, it was the only thing he ever asked of me directly. He could have said anything, could have asked me to do anything but he chose to ask one thing. He said i need you to be strong for me.

Who is this god? Zeus? Thor? Apollo? Baal? Osiris?

"Why does god?" First we need to know what god you speak of.

There is only one God, and I do not wonder why, I know why He seems silent and invisible.

He wants you to develop faith in the word of God.

He is always talking to us but we shut him down.

Just listen when you pray and he always talks to you if you are serious.

He knows when you are serious, and he does not answer anyone playing religion for that would mean you are manipulating him.

When he is silent, just go with the word and seek him in prayer and give him your life and mind and heart.

Get born again

while born again he is always talking to you, always.

but you have to be serious.

Look up 'Deus Absconditus' -the hidden God.
Some of the Lutherans have some good articles on this.

Also this was early Luthers strong suit...

Check this page for starters on Luther's Heidelberg Disputation.

1 Sam 12:20 And Samuel said unto the people, Fear not: ye have done all this wickedness: yet turn not aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;

Prov 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Prov 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Prov 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
Prov 3:8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Prov 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

Psa 105:3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
Psa 105:4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.
Psa 105:5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
Psa 105:6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.
Psa 105:7 He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.
Psa 105:8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.

Well you have to prepare yourself to get different responses, you are on a Multi Christian forum site, which means people here are from all sorts of Christian denominations, beliefs, and different Christian backgrounds. What you believe in may be believed different by others. And everyone claims they are right and you are wrong, or vice versa.

The gods mentioned, are only gods, Not THEE GOD. noticed the capital G? The gods you mentioned are mere so called gods. so the answer to your question, there are all gods. But NOT THEE GOD. The almighty GOD. the one and only true God. The creator of us all.

Those gods you mentioned don't have powers, only fantasy powers I call them, all make believe. They didnt have the powers to bring back a life, dint have the powers to heal, didnt have the powers to save. Didnt have the powers to create something from nothing. so those gods as you called them, are nothing.

If God was visible to us and spoke to us loudly and plain all the time...what kind of faith would we have?

Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed." -John 20:19

If you're the boss and you leave instructions for your workers, and those workers do an outstanding job of following your orders even though you're not present...what does that indicate about their character/personality/moral values?

:)

I receive a Word from God daily.
He is speaks to me all the time, and very clearly.

Sometimes even in a very deep and audible voice
... when I have my James Earl Jones -Audio Bible playing in the car...

God speaks to us in His Word whenever we submit ourselves to the Scriptures.

God does speak to us

He speaks through His word

Through His Son

Thorough His creation

Through Music

And through other believers. I constantly have people walk right up to me in the St preaching to me and I know God laid it upon their heart especially in times when I've needed it. He works in ways where you have even no choice to believe...he is always one step ahead of you. Knows your feelings, emotions and we are lucky enough to receive His answers if we listen.

Perhaps the reason why you think god is silent, is because you believe in the wrong gods. The God I beliee in, and mnay others here believe in, speaks to us daily, and is seen. The gods you think are gods of your life, well that speaks for itself. The true God is not ignorant, he will talk to his children. he will speak to us in ways you could think imposible, Because the God i believe everything is possible. The gods you mentioned, are nothing, forgotten legends. God that I believe, is past, present and future.

Good stuff.

If you truly believe that God wrote the Bible in it's entirety (albeit through the pen of men), then you have all of the words you need. It's just a matter of whether you choose to see it that way, and have faith that the Word is God's voice for you.

And Test was on the right track saying that that kind of faith is important and is what builds up a more intimate relationship with Him. (Not Test, but God;))

God hides himself in the weak things of the world...a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths...an itinerant preacher, the message of a crucified savior,...in our weakness He is revealed as strong.
The theologian of the cross sees this clearly but the theologian of glory is blinded.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
That no flesh should glory in his presence.

Why does God hide and be silent? Because we humans sinned and God and sin don't dwell in the same place together. However, God is always near us just waiting for us to open our hearts door so He can enter in and help us change from sinful beings to the perfect humans He intended us to be. The in dwelling of the Holy Spirit helps to make these changes as we are unable to make these changes ourselves. We have to die to self and sin, repent and accept the sacrifice Jesus gives us as a free gift.
