James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
James 2:12 So speak ye , and so do , as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Sincerity is the place to start. NOT self righteousness according to one's performance. Seeking righteousness via works doesn't work, but seeking righteousness by the foundation of belief and faith that leads to good works that are of God through Christ does work.
Confession, which this sincerity demands, (not by self will) is the key to changing one's character in relation to Christ, for we are predestined to be conformed in that respect.
After confession we are consistently reminded of our infractions that have become habitual in our past. Guilt is the consequence, but this guilt is the chastening hand of God as a loving Father would correct, and remind His children because of this enormous love.
Confession then is the beginning of the sequence that heals relationships and causes the wrong kind of fear to vanish.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment . He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Sincere confession heals relationships, alleviates guilt, causes repentance, and gives us freedom from reoccurring agitations that make living hard to bear. Sincere confessions, that are spoken from the heart after the infractions are seen through the instruction in righteousness end up in a life that's free.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
