I read the discussion about salvation by grace or work, go to complicated, I think we have to make it simple who get the credit for our salvation?

1. Is God the one that deserve for the credit for our salvation? Mean His grace, His decision to die for us is the key to our salvation?

2. Or our own work?

As far as my concern, this is the order of salvation.

The Lord decide to die for us. Then He invite every body who believe in Him to be save.

He come to the earth to make this offer/offer of salvation. Just accept Him.

I am going to repeat my analogy.

If a rich man come to my house and bring a million dollar in his hand, and said, take this money, I work for it, all you need is you believe this is not counterfeit and take it.

Then I take this money.

Can I say : I earn it. Can I boast this is the result of my work, I deserve to get the credit.

Yes, I have to make decision either to accept the offer or refuse it.

But normal person, will say it is a give, it is a grace, normal person will give all the credit to the giver/the Lord, not take the credit for himself.

God is the one who saves, but the question is - who does He save and why?

Heb 5:9 God saves those that obey Him.

Yup. back to what we get a million dollar, decide to accept and use our hand to grab the give is nothing brother.

Normally we forget about what we do, is a tiny job to obey compare with what we get

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

For our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison,

and who gets the credit for our faith? for our obedience?

Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

(Psalm 51:5-6)

only God is worthy of all praise!

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

(Psalm 51:10-12)

Heb 5:9 God saves those that obey Him.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Tit 3:5)

OBEY (from Heb 5:9)- ὑπακούω. impf. ὑπήκουον; 1aor. ὑπήκουσα; from a basic meaning listen to;

perfect example of twisting the bible crossnote.

From
G5259 and G191; to hear under (as a subordinate), that is, to listen attentively; by implication to heed or conform to a command or authority: - hearken, be obedient to, obey.

obey is to do

Abraham OBEYED my voice and KEPT my commandments

Obey my voice, and do them [commandments], according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:

if you DO THEM and KEEP them you are his people

which means if you DONT DO them and DONT keep them you are not

a dad tells child to MOW THE LAWN

child does not mow lawn
dad says

did you LISTEN to me and HEAR me tell you to mow the lawn?

Child says yes.

did you mow the lawn?

Child says no...

What do YOU think is going to happen?

why is it some just refuse to do what God tells us to?

do they really love him?

well
they aren't going if they aren't obedient.

1 Joh 3:4

If you love me keep my commandments.

if you don't want to keep them don't
do whatever you want.

Good point.

Man has a role in his own condemnation as he has a role in his own salvation.

All of God's grace will never save a disobedient person who rejects God and His word.... My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.....He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; (Tit 3:5)

OBEY (from Heb 5:9)- ὑπακούω. impf. ὑπήκουον; 1aor. ὑπήκουσα; from a basic meaning listen to;
..and HOW does Titus 3:5 says he saved us? Saved us unconditionally? No. Saved us randomly before the world began? No. But saved us by washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Jn 3:5--------spirit+++++++++born of water>>>>>>>>>>>in the kingdom
Tts 3:5-----Holy Ghost++++++washing of regen.>>>>>>>>>saved

So those that are saved are those that obey the righteousness/commandments of God in submitting to water baptism and not those that do their own righteousness/good works of merit. [Note how Paul CONTRASTS men's good works from 'washing of regeneration/water baptism]

According to His mercy He saved us. To whom does God have mercy? Those that remain in disobedience? No. But those that obey. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him.....He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy....But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him...And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments.....And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

No doubt although he will reject it in favor of faith being a work and in favor of works for salvation....

Not by 'our' works of righteousness. Check? Check!
Which we HAVE DONE, Check? Check? Check!
But according to His mercy he saved us. (Mercy not getting what we deserve (punishment) due to not doing what we should have (disobedience). Check? Check!
By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost...washing and renewing, both work of the Holy Spirit. Check? Checkmate!

It's a given as he opposes God's grace at every turn....unless you define grace as an opportunity given by God to prove yourself righteous.
