Having just traveled thru Utah, twice, and learning a few things about the state, I'm wondering how people here feel about the Mormon faith. One thing I found interesting is that their crime rate (and homelessness) is about double the national average. And that they really do target out-of-state license plates for "special consideration". What was it Jesus said about welcoming strangers, and removing the log before picking at others specks?

More crime...no wonder...

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Apparently you know very little about Mormonism, or you would know that they are not part of Chrisianity. They are a poly-theist psuedo-christian cult. They believe in many gods, and the mormon men believe they too will become a god ruling their own universe someday, if they are good enough on this earth. They believe Jesus is the brother of Lucifer, and that God the Father is a man who became a god. They use our terminology, but have changed the meanings of our terms.

More bashing based on adjectives I see. They're people too, just like the Muslim man. Show them love, and love you will get in return!

Here are other eye opening statistics, that the LDS Church likes to hide:

American Journal of EPIDEMIOLOGY
. . .
In Utah, for 1991–1995, suicide was the second leading cause of death for males aged 15–24 years and the leading cause of death for males aged 25–44
. For more than a decade, suicide rates in Utah for young males aged 15–34 years have been substantially higher than national suicide rates.
http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/155/5/413.full
Also 32% of homicides in Utah are a result of domestic violence. Reported domestic violence cases average 169,156 in Utah, and many more are never reported: Violence & Injury Prevention Program

2 Timothy 3:1-5 (GW)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] You must understand this: In the last days there will be violent periods of time.
[SUP]2 [/SUP] People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy,
[SUP]3 [/SUP] and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good.
[SUP]4 [/SUP] They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Stay away from such people.

Godly Love tells people the TRUTH.

Romans 5:5 (NKJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Matthew 24:23-25 (NKJV)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] Then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'There!' do not believe it.
[SUP]24 [/SUP] For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
[SUP]25 [/SUP] See, I have told you beforehand.

1 John 4:1 (NKJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,
[SUP]2 [/SUP] by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron,

2 Chronicles 19:10 (NKJV)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] Whatever case comes to you from your brethren who dwell in their cities, whether of bloodshed or offenses against law or commandment, against statutes or ordinances, you shall warn them, lest they trespass against the LORD and wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do this, and you will not be guilty.

2 John 1:9-11 (NKJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP] Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
[SUP]10 [/SUP] If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
[SUP]11 [/SUP] for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

It's funny, most of the people we met were very friendly and welcoming. But then satan attracts more flies with honey than with vinegar, right? And while as a group they are waaay off the beaten path of truth, it's still possible that any one individual could rise above that group stereotype and find the way. Just like the Muslim man. While on the lemming path to destruction, one of them does on occasion find Christ. As VCO said, we must always test the spirits, and reject those which are false, while leaving open the door for those who would step thru.

Have you ever actually got to know an active Mormon well enough to know that by their religion, they resist all of the unholy adjectives you have ascribed to them. My Mormon friends are good people and I enjoy being around them as much as I enjoy being around other Christians.

You may think that the state of Utah is 90% Mormon, but since Utah is such a successful state, primarily due to the Mormon influence, and the natural beauty of the state, lots of non-Mormons are moving in fast. The % of Mormons is probably around 50% now. So the statistics that you quoted must factor that in. In fact if you were to do an intensive study, you would find that active Mormons would make up a very small %, if none, of the domestic violence you again heap on them.

So when you bash a group of people who are not present to defend themselves, take a little more time to do your due diligence, you may find an entirely different senerio than what you have presented here.

They also resist the deity of Christ. They ascribe equal value to their books, the book of Mormon, as they do to the bible. They in fact reject grace in lieu of a merit based system in which they become gods and have their own planets to rule over. But yeah they are nice people. Problem is they are nice people on the way to eternal condemnation.

They are not Christians, and since when does putting on a good appearance make one a Christian.

Romans 3:12 (HCSB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.

2 Corinthians 11:3-4 (NKJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
[SUP]4 [/SUP] For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it!

The late Mormon Prophet Gordon B. Hinckley, who died in 2008, stated in one of his last sermons from the pulpit in Salt Lake City, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teaches a different Jesus Christ than the rest of the Churches."

Mormons do believe that the Mormon Jesus and Satan are brothers, and both were born spirit children or OFFSPRING OF THE FATHER. You can read that for yourself on several Mormon sites, which I will NOT post here.

Christianity believe that Jesus is GOD in the Flesh.

Galatians 1:8-9 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!
[SUP]9 [/SUP] As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!

BEWARE!!

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (NKJV)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.
[SUP]14 [/SUP] And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

There are 3 family's that control the Mormon church and they have golden toilet seats. Ask any Mormon if they have been invited to the temple as it is overlaid with gold. Most Mormons do not even know about the inner circle and how they helped the mafia to establish Las Vegas.

The Mormons I've met were lovely people but spiritually confused. That's probably the mainstay.

Being homeless in Utah has it's advantages:
nobody comes knocking at your front door...

It is a wise person who does not mock what he does not understand.

The Mormons or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believe that Christ restored his Church to the earth after a long period of Apostacy. They teach that every person can find out if this is true of false through the Holy Spirit. The one thing you'll notice if you ever talk with the missionaries is they will not try to convince you of what they teach, they will ask you to pray to God and ask for yourself.
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I realize that after having said this that most or all of you will have summarily dismissed me as "deceived", "misguided", "spiritually confused", "decieved by satan" and in need of being brought back and saved from the errors of my ways.
None-the-less, I tell you I have read the Book of Mormon and I know through the Spirit of Christ that it is of God! It is another testament along with the Bible that Jesus is the promised Messiah. Anyone who chooses to can pick up the book and test it for themselves.

While I disagree with most of their theology, for the most part they are fine people who I would enjoy having dinner with.

As an aside, we went to a water park in Provo, UT during Labor Day last year and it was refreshing to see the modesty there. We only saw a handful of women in 2-pieces.

Perhaps you would deign to enlighten me? Is Jesus Christ the virgin born Son of God? Is Jesus Christ very God Himself in the flesh? Do you believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers? Ok, ok here's and easy one...are you becoming a god?

All men are sinners. The wages of sin is death, eternal death in the lake of fire. Only by Gods grace can a man be forgiven his sin. The blood of Jesus Christ shed at Calvary is the only atonement sufficient to appease God's justice. Jesus rose bodily from the tomb on the third day to proclaim to all the world His victory over sin and death.

The book of Mormon is not an inspired text from God.
