Yes, I know many people on here are going to attack me for saying this.... But I don't believe in OSAS. Please keep an open mind about this. A verse that OSAS believers will never answer. Revelation 2:4-Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love(5)Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. How can you be saved without the light of God? Likewise, how can you lose the light of God, and yet be saved? Here Jesus is threatening to remove the 'candlestick' from the church unless they repented...and I don't think He makes idle threats. Hebrews 3:12-Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.This verse takes care of the oft repeated verses from the OSASers that say "once God saves you, nobody can pluck you out of His hand" it's true that's what those verses say, but they are taken out of context and stretched into also saying that you have no free will and could not walk out yourself. Ezekiel 18:24-But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die. This is absolute proof that the righteous can turn from their righteousness, and that it's not merely "they were never saved to begin with". 2 Peter 2:20-For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.(21) For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.(22)But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. This nails it, verse 20 proves it's talking about saved people, and says if they are entangled again and overcome, that they are worse off than when they started. To emphasise the context of this, it says in verse 21, that it would have been better for them to not have known the way of righteousness in the first place. That's an awfully hard condemnation, considering that being ignorant of the way of righteousness is something prior to their own salvation. Verse 22 ends with saying it has in fact happened. For more proof that it has happened, it says in verse 15, that they have forsaken the right path. Again, you can't forsake something you were never on. You will see verses further down in this section of what the Bible says about people who have turned like this, and who do not abide in Christ. They are not saved, the verses given above finish off the belief that they were never saved to begin with. Lastly, something that all OSAS believers fail to realize is that their salvation is just as conditional as mine...
If they murder, they never really had salvation...if I murder, I've lost my salvation
If they commit adultery, they were never really saved...If I commit adultery, I'm no longer saved
We are in the same boat--LOST! So at least they believe that you have to live a righteous life, and be a good person. ( And no am not trying to say that works will save you but Romans 8:1 clearly says that after we are saved. we have to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh, therefore we have to abolish and mortify our members which are upon the earth as stated in Colossians 3:5, and be a living sacrifice unto God as stated in Romans 12:1) All am trying to say is that OSAS is a very false, and dangerous doctrine and you should avoid it at all costs. Colossians 2:8- Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. I hope this will open eyes of some OSAS believers.Thank you for reading, and God bless ;)

Just wanted to add something. You may ask "What about being saved by grace? Aren't we all just saved by grace, and not by our works, hence we can't do any works to lose our salvation?" There's a verse that explains the whole" saved by grace" stufff that OSAS believers spew like there's no tomorrow.Titus 2:11- For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,(12) Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;(13)Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;(14)Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
As we can all see, this is the grace that saves, it teaches people to be righteous and godly, so if you're claiming to be saved by grace, and yet you're living like the heathen world, then I would seriously question your salvation.
Further support for this is found in Matt 10:33 and Luke 12:9 where Jesus said "if you deny me before man, I will deny you before the Father."
Then we find in Titus that a person can be a denier of God, by their very works. Titus 1:16-They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. I would strongly suggest that yiu visit the website THE JESUS COMMANDMENT ;)

You are awfully young to be so critical of what God has proclaimed and established through Christ. Grace is the means by which God declares those who are vile and unworthy to be pure and makes them holy.

There is nothing that man can do to satisfy God. Gods standards are too extreme for man to even come close. Absolute perfection is the only thing good enough for God. A standard only God Himself could meet.

Who ever is discipling you is in error themselves. Scripture commands that we study the word of God to become workmen that need not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.

Here's a thought experiment for you. Instead of telling God what you believe let God tell you what you should believe. Learn before you endeavor to teach.

Well three things....

1. You are entitled to your opinion/view
2. Good luck with that

and

3. Your Revelation reference was to the Church at Ephesus and was indicative of the over all view of that church and her collective works....She was doing everything under the sun when it comes to the Lord and his work, but had failed to Love the Lord and do the work out of a heart of love. Timothy and John both pastored this church and heard many a message about LOVE.

The danger was them having their candlestick (power and light) stirred away out of place...I.E. They would loose their power and right of a true church and would fail and be removed out of existence which took place....

Sorry, your reference has absolutely nothing to do with biblical salvation of a soul and I recommend a few more years of study fried!

I am starting to think that proof of age should be a requirement. There are some here who claim to be old, and some claim to be young, that I just don't believe them.

I understand that we cannot measure up to God's standard. Why do you think Jesus came? I clearly stated that works cannot save you. But how can you claim to be a Christian if you're living your life like the rest of the world? Yes, I understand that we saved by grace alone through faith not of works as stated in Ephesians 2:8 But after were saved, if people are not seeing a change in our lives, then I doubt that the person is really saved. Works must be evident in your life as a believer, but it will not save you.

God can use anyone regardless of their age. 1 Timothy 4:12- Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Your doubts and my doubts do not mean a thing. God knows the hearts. Each person must answer for themselves before God. The saved people answer before Christ at the judgment seat of Christ where their works are tested. The works are put through the fire and the works that remain are given for a reward. At the Great White Throne Judgment the unsaved stand before God the Father and all who stand here are condemned and cast into the lake of fire. Saved people have their works put through the faire but they do not go through the fire. Unsaved people have nothing but their sin and are cast into the lake of fire with the devil and his angels.

It is not wrong to expect to see good works from those who name the name of Christ but it is not our part to judge if they are sufficient or good enough based on our expectations. We ought to encourage each other to labor for the Lord. But before we can labor we must be disciple in the word. We are born as babes in Christ and for some it takes a long time to mature before they can do anything except demand constant care from those around them.

Don't let others who should no better rob you of your peace and joy in the Lord by binding heavy burdens upon you. Just love Jesus and trust Him with all your heart.

True but one must take time to study before they endeavor to teach. Paul spent ten years in the desert before he preached to the whole world.

I say that not to quell your zeal but to point out that you have two ears and only one mouth so spend twice as much time hearing as teaching. God will give you opportunities to testify of how you got saved. Let the doctrinal stuff to those who are matured in the faith. You will be someday.

O.K. OSAS "once saved, always saved" well, yes, once God brings a soul through the foolishness of unbelief, and gets them to accept Him as their savior, He's not gonna just let them go, He loves them too much. They will still have many decades of trials and testing as they go through Justification unto Sanctification, where they enter the Kingdom, but God is in charge of changing us, not we ourselves, we can't bring about spiritual change, even if we want to, God is in control.

I believe that you are wearing that hat (in the avatar) because you are hiding the fact that you don't have much hair up there, assuming that is a real picture of you and not of your twin brother that you are also keeping as a secret from us. In that picture you don't look a day over 30, so you must have lost some hair when you were really young and foolish and had a problem with your nerves because you thought no one liked you. Am I close? lol

So you say but every church is made up of individuals and here the word is referring to individuals..

Are you reading a different bible?
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

I did not see endure to the end in your quote...how shall you be saved if you don't endure?

There again, you take a passage about enduring to the end of the Tribulation under persecution where the salvation is the 2nd coming of Christ. The salvation there is from persecution during the Tribulation.

But BTW, the doctrine of eternal security does assert that every believer does endure to the end.

Give it up NewB.

I urge everyone who is opposing your own salvation by down-grading the Lord Jesus to a mere chance-giver, to repent of that sin, and actually trust Him as Savior.

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

Well we would first have to figure out who is being addressed here in the passage of Revelation 2:1-7.

Secondly, we would then need to through study of the word of God, find out what the candlestick represents. What you are essentially doing is you are equating the candlestick mentioned in Revelation 2:5 to a Christian's salvation. When in fact, it may not be that at all.

Hebrews 3:12 is a passage which is Doctrinally pointed at Hebrews in the 7 year tribulation (Time of Jacob's trouble).

The Church (Body of Christ) is already removed off of the earth in the Rapture before the 7 year tribulation starts.

Now you may be wondering how I know that Hebrews 3 is pointed Doctrinally at a Jew in the time of Jacob's trouble. Well it is actually quite simple. I know this is the case from reading the passage in context:

Hebrews 3 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

3 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; 2 who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. 3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. 4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all thingsis God. 5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; 6 but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 when your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 while it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Did you notice the verses in the passage which I highlighted?

Notice how in both verses it says that those who hold fast faithful firm to the end are made partakers of Christ and His house. They both teach endurance, which means works.

In today's dispensation (Church Age), no Christian has to endure to the end to be saved. Why? because it is Christ Himself who confirms us unto the end:

1 Corinthians 1:4-9

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; 5 that in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; 6 even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: 7 so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: 8 who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ezekiel 18 is a passage pointed at an Old Testament Jew in Israel. Salvation and the means of it in the Old Testament was very different than how Salvation is today in the Church Age.

In the Old Testament, they were saved by doing the works of the Law. That is why their own righteousness had a part in their salvation.

Today in the New Teastament, we are not saved by doing the works of the Law. But we are saved by Grace through Faith (Eph. 2:8-10). We are saved by placing our faith in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:25).

What you do not realize is that 2 Peter 2, in the context of the whole Chapter is about False teachers and False prophets (i.e. Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Joel Osteen, Todd Bentley, etc.).

Let us look at the passage in Context now:

2 Peter 2 Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. 4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5 and spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; 7 and delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: 8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 9 the Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: 10 but chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. 11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord. 12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; 13 and shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; 14 having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: 15 which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 16 but was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. 18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Take note of all the verses which are in Bold. This passage is clearly not talking about saved, born again Christians. Look at the very last phrase in verse 14: Cursed Children.

Is someone who is born again and saved cursed????

Of course not! That should be obvious. Again, when reading the context of this passage, this is clearly talking about false teachers and false prophets.

Notice in verse 17; Peter writes by the Inspiration of the Holy Ghost that these people are wells without water, and that they are servants of corruption. And then in the very last verse Peter refers to them as Dogs and Sows.

Saved, born again Christians are never referred to in the Scriptures as Dogs or Sows. They are referred to as Sheep.

And when the passage says that they have known the way of righteousness, it simply means that they had been given the Gospel. They know what the True Gospel is and yet they still have not gotten saved!

A person can know and understand the Gospel of Salvation and yet still reject it. A person has to do more than simply know about the Gospel and the way of righteousness. They must repent and Believe the Gospel. In order to be saved.

So the passage of 2 Peter 2 does not at all teach that a Christian can lose their salvation.

The Context shows that it is False teachers and False prophets who Peter is writing about.

If a true born again Christian commits murder, he will not lose his salvation. But he still will have to reap the consequences of his actions on this earth. He will to serve time in the Prison. The Christian will also lose his testimony, he will have to live with the fact that he took the life of another human being, and will have to give an account of his action at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

There is no sin that can cause the Christian to lose his salvation. A Christian can lose a lot of things. He can lose his health, testimony, his joy, his family, his marriage, his money, his reputation, his friends, his rewards and inheritance at the Judgment Seat of Christ and even his life! But he never loses his salvation. Once a man or woman is born again, they can never be or become un-born again. A Child no matter how bad he lives, never stops being a child. And once you are born into God's family, you can never fall out of that family. And while a Christian can lose his inheritance, he can never lose his sonship.

Therefore Once Saved Always Saved is a Bible Doctrine. Once you are saved, you are then sealed by the Holy Spirit of Promise (See Ephesians 1:13 and Ephesians 4:30).

So Now a 4th Thread on the Same Topic? Eternal Security!

This must now be at least the 3rd separate thread on the same subject started after I began mine on this topic.

Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants;
And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned.
Ps 52
But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God:
I trust in the lovingkindness of God for ever and ever.
I will give thee thanks for ever, because thou hast done it;
1 Thes 5 end:
"And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He Who calls you, Who will also do it.

Col 3
If then ye were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth. For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall be manifested, then shall ye also with him be manifested in glory.

2 Thes 2:16
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
End of Rom 8:
And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, even to them that are called according to his purpose. For whom
he foreknew,
he also foreordained to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren: and whom
he foreordained, them
he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom
he justified, them
he also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 3He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also with him freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth; who is he that condemneth? It is Christ Jesus that died, yea rather, that was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Even as it is written,
For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

< 1 Pet 1
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, unto an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

THE OVERCOMER
Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father… 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. And who is he who overcomes the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of the throne saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he shall dwell with them, and they shall be his peoples, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God: and he shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more: the first things are passed away. And he that sitteth on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he saith, Write: for these words are faithful and true. And he said unto me, They are come to pass. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

In II Thess. 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and guard you from the evil one.”

In II Tim. 1:12 he sounds a note of rejoicing: “For I know Him whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard that which I have committed unto Him against that day.”
< 2 Tim 4:18
The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom;

2 Tim 1:8-9
… God; who saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal,

2 thes 2:16-17 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.

And these all, having had witness borne to them through their faith, received not the promise, God having provided some better thing concerning us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect. Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,

Am I close? lol
I wear a cap to keep the sun out of my eyes...since I was 15 or so. Being bald is a little something I got from dad, but hiding it isn't a goal, just a result. The first is me and my girls, some 30 years ago, and the second is about 10 years ago. Any more questions? :)
