John had the spirit of Elijah possessing his soul, and Enoch's spirit had dwelt in Elijah. This Spirit comes first before God comes, to get the people ready for His coming. It may look like the Holy spirit had came after Jesus coming, but Its has came before His coming, and now the Holy spirit has come to set things right about the word of God, and which the devil distorted our perception. He has been keeping us from understanding it by planting his thoughts into ours thoughts so that we will perceive the scriptures in a different way from the truth. And so this Spirit that had dwelt in Elijah and Enoch, but it is not to be perceived as their own spirit but Its has raised them to be who they are, and which they had changed the heart's of the people to turn to God. The elects were the only ones that had the Holy spirit in them, but the rest of the people didn't, but now the Spirit is for all.
1 Kings 18:39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”
