Why is it that some churches believe that celebrating birthdays in wrong? I don't find Scriptural support for that, unless I'm missing something.

And to answer the OP, I see nothing in Scripture that dictates that we should NOT celebrate birthdays.

i think it was job who says death was better then being born

a new born has to go through the evil, old man allready did.

i only see a couple birthdays celebrated in bible by pagen kings,

they where all bad like the beheading of john.

the bible goes out of the way not to celebrate or know Jesus birthday,

i dont think there is a command to keep or not,

but i don't see them doing it in the bible,


someones sons where havin a get together mabe a birthday,

and there dad did there sacrifices for them, not remember where verse

For the most part only the Jehovahs witness (who are not true Christian) do not celebrate birthdays. They say it's to not bring attention to themselves.

Point exactly if they celebrated Jesus birth and He is God the Son then why should we not celebrate our birthday .
I am sure Hezikiah celebrated his 15 added years God gave him

These people did evil for their birthday it does say that we should not celebrate our birthday

We also have this verse that speaks of a birthday.

Luke 1:13-14 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.

I don't see celebrating birthdays as being wrong. I do see how some things that are done on birthdays can be wrong and I also see how some selfish attitudes regarding one's birthday can be wrong but celebrating birthdays in general is not wrong.

How would you feel about a church that believes celebrating birthdays is pagan and wrong?

Not wrong, just silly. Imagine a bunch of adults during Service carrying on like a bunch of kids...we don't grow up.

Celebrate birthdays or not it doesn't change the fact that Jesus died for us. What is more important a birthday or a death for our sins?

One must be born before one can die! No birthday, no death for sins...

It think we trap ourselves by asking questions that don't need to be asked and make issues out of things that don't need to be made issues.
