Yes, but it is the love of money that is the root, not money itself.

There has been a lot of good things done for others using money. Getting rid of it would not stop sin, sin happened before money was a part of the world, and would remain with out it.

If we want to get rid of it because the love of it is the root, then we should get rid of everything we have.

Because people can and have misused anything given to them. TV can be your root, radio can be your root, yourself can be the root, your family can be your root, and so on and so on.
If you put anything before God it becomes your root to do wrong.

There was idols, and covetousness before money and will be even if money were not around today.

That is not true, sin happened before money was a part of the world and some sins or most sins don't need money to happen.
My point was if you don't put emphasis on the money, there could be some thing else in ones life that could be their root leading to sin.
