I have heard what happens to illegal aliens and how a lot are treated. i also know that they are hard working willing to work for low pay and are happy just to be in america. I could have sworn this country was called the land of the free but maybe I was mistaken. Why is there such a problem allowing illegal aliens to live and work here and to be treated with the same kindness and fairness? Jesus loves them just as much as us right? i noticed how even in the bible there were ppl who were treated less than others like servants or slaves and i guess I figured since this is the 20th century we were past all that. i mean this country was founded on Christian values, i just dont think this is what the founding fathers had in mind

Because they are i-l-l-e-g-a-l.
It is not fair to those like my parents who came in through the legal process.
We are, at least were, a country which was run by law...not mob rule.

But most come here for a better life and are willing to work to do so, so why do we try to keep them from coming here? its not like they are asking for charity

Pretty much what crossnote said. Plus the fact that they don't pay taxes on the money they make illegally.

Fireheart...the only reason illegal immigrants don't get respected especially if they are over 18 is because they don't care to go through the legal processes. Sure, we can have grace with their kids because it's not their fault...but if millions of other immigrants have gained citizenship through going through the process correctly, then they can do the same thing. There are plenty of legal immigrants who went through the process correctly and it makes them mad because there are others getting away with it. If they would pay taxes and do what they are supposed to do, then new immigrants wouldn't be such a big deal. My neighbors are hispanic and are not from the USA and to know they are tired of illegal immigrants trying to get around the hoops says a lot. Yes, it is difficult but I've got friends from South Africa who have gained citizenship. It can be done.

We don't try to keep them from coming here. We have certain proceedures for all to go through. If we opened the borders to all, we would not remain a nation for a month.

Fireheart, it becomes an issue because America now will hire someone of hispanic decent or asian decent over a white person even if they do not meet the qualifications or have a decent resume, basically because they are afraid to be sued, or because they can pay them less. That is discrimination.

Are the illegal immigrants willing to fight for our country and serve in our military? I have many friends who are veterans who do not get the healthcare benefits that illegals get. It's disgusting really.

this is a difficult topic for those of us, like crossnote, whose family members have come in
'through the front door'.

my own dear (and favorite) aunt came here with my mom's brother as his wife after WW2,
there were plenty of hoops they had to jump through.
than their daughter married a guy from Germany who was here for work.
that also took a looong time to sort out, so he could legally stay here,
even though he had an American wife and a job here with a German company.

it's a bit of an affront to my cousin that ppl would just sneak in and be allowed to stay
after what her mom and husband went through.
that said, as Christians i do think we should do whatever we can to help these 'undocumented' to become legit.
i know there are times they will be taken advantage of by employers.
(what can they do...call the cops?)
and then it becomes circular, as there are citizens willing to take advantage of illegals.

but srsly...every civilized nation has immigration policies.

You have been getting your news from left wing, non-Christians News reporters, I see.

THIS COUNTRY IS FOUNDED ON CHRISTIAN VALUES! Don't you know your Bible well enough to know what those values ARE?

Romans 13:1-7 (HCSB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God.
[SUP]2 [/SUP] So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves.
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have its approval.
[SUP]4 [/SUP] For government is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For government is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong.
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath, but also because of your conscience.
[SUP]6 [/SUP] And for this reason you pay taxes, since the ⌊authorities⌋ are God’s public servants, continually attending to these tasks.
[SUP]7 [/SUP] Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.

1 Peter 2:13-17 (NKJV)

[SUP]13 [/SUP] Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man {THAT INCLUDES IMMIGRATION LAWS AND THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT.} for the Lord's sake, whether to the king as supreme,
[SUP]14 [/SUP] or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men--
[SUP]16 [/SUP] as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

We have a LAW that makes Crossing the BORDER illegally is a CRIME. GOD wants everyone in this Country that is supposed to be "One Nation Under GOD", obeying the Laws and Ordinances of the LAND. I thought you were a Christian, and you want to reward those who break the Law. You walk with the TIDE of popular opinions, while a true Supports obeying the Laws of the Land, even if it means going against that tide of popular opinions:

A good book explaining how permitting illegal immigration only helps destroy the economies in the countries the illegals come from resulting, of course, in even more illegal immigration.

"Anthropologist Stoll (Fishers of Men or Founders of Empire?) examines the factors underlying a growing migration-based debt crisis in Latin America. He argues that a desire for American-style consumption drives immigrants into a pyramid scheme in which high-interest loans for travel to the U.S. can only be paid for by U.S. jobs (even at less than minimum wage), encouraging more people to travel to the U.S., compounding local debt."

There is no such thing as illegal aliens. We all have a right by birth! The things discussed in this thread only exists in the world of commerce. Money! Again get rid of that, and even this problem goes away!

They are here illegally. However, we must not come to hate them or claim they are "taking our jobs" when most of the jobs they do, most Americans are too proud to do. They should be deported, because like all who cut in line, they must understand that they don't receive a privilege because they made it in.

Our Christian values are as such that should they seek asylum in our Church's, we must give it, no matter the political ideology. Many have claimed sanctuary in the House of God, and in that sense, that Sanctuary should be open to all.

Our immigration policies need to be reformed, we can no longer create quotas that allow us to pick and choose who can come to America based upon ethnicity and nation of birth. However, you cannot break a law simply because it benefits you and your family. Our laws stand to hold onto the integrity of our nation, though much of that integrity has been tarnished.

This is honestly why I support the idea that if someone has been here for longer than 5 years, been employed for those 5 years, has paid local, state, and federal taxes, and has no criminal record, they be given a work visa, renewable after five years. For all others, deportation. Back of the line, though we do not allow their illegal crossing to prejudice their legal crossing.

Flaming, are you one of those who does not ever watch TV news, or just one that needs to tighten some of his screws. You seem to make less and less sense. I asked you before, but you did not answer, are you anti-money because you do not want to pay you tithes and offerings to the LORD?

I think that they should be taught the pledge of allegiance and taught English. But, oh wait we don't require that of our own children.

I wouldnt go down that road, Flame is very firm in his belief and debating with him about it will only kindle the fire pun not intended.

So you are saying get rid of the distinction between illegal and legal alien?
Or get rid of the distinction between alien and citizen?
Or get rid of the distinction between borders?
Get rid of money? Hello?
