The Vatican lays claim to the Temple Mount per the 1993 Fundamental Agreement and the pope could very well issue plans to rebuild the 3rd temple.

I think the Jews, even if the Vatican does hold claim to the Temple Mount will be the main ones in charge of rebuilding the temple.

And just for those who are in disagreement with the temple being rebuilt, between the book of Ezekiel and Revelations 11 you should see that the temple is rebuilt in the last days.

Christ a.k.a. The Branch has built His temple, in us:

Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The Branch; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the Lord:
Even he shall build the temple of the Lord; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

(Zechariah 6:12-13)

this is the reason that another physical temple would be an abomination.

Ezekiel chapters 40-48 describe a temple, larger than Solomon or Herod's.

Revelation chapter 11 describes a temple.

in Revelation 22:12, John sees the new Jerusalem, and there is no temple in the city, because God Himself, and the Lamb are its temple.

Ezekiel chapters 40 to 48 speak of the third ( millennial temple ) to be built, and in Revelations 11 when it talks about the two witnesses talks also about the temple being there as well.

It is only an abomination to those of us who are Christians.

To Jews that do not believe in Jesus Christ, it would not be because they still believe it would be building it for God.

[h=1]What is the meaning and significance of the Temple Mount?[/h]
Question: "What is the meaning and significance of the Temple Mount?"

Answer:
The Temple Mount is the holiest site in Judaism, the third holiest site in Islam, and a revered site to Christians. To the Jews it is known as Har HaMoriyah (Mount Moriah) and Har HaBayit (Temple Mount); to Muslims it is known as Haram el Sharif (the Sacred Noble Sanctuary). In the Bible it is also called Mount Zion (Psalm 48:2; Isaiah 4:5). Because of its importance to three major religions, its ownership has been hotly contested for two thousand years. Today the Temple Mount is under the control of the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, a trust that was established in 1187 to manage the Islamic structures in Jerusalem. Under their current rules, access to the holy sites is prohibited to all non-Muslims.

According to the Bible (Genesis 22:1-14), God told Abraham to bring his son, Isaac, to the land of Moriah (meaning “Chosen by Yah”) and offer him as a sacrifice on a mountain there. As Abraham was about to complete the sacrifice, God stopped him and provided a ram as a substitutionary sacrifice. In this same location, nearly 1000 years later, God led Solomon to build the First Temple (2 Chronicles 3:1). David had identified this location as the place for worshiping God because it was here the plague was stayed when he confessed his sin, and he purchased it so he could build an altar (1 Chronicles 21:18-26). Solomon’s Temple stood until the Babylonians destroyed it in 586 BC. Zerubbabel led the efforts to build the Second Temple, which was completed in 516 BC, then enlarged by Herod the Great in 12 BC. The Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70, fulfilling Jesus' words in Mark 13:1-2.

As the Roman Empire was fading, Mohammed and his teaching of Islam was rising in the Middle East. According to the Quran (Surah 17:1), Mohammed made a miraculous night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem in AD 621. There he led worship at “the farthest mosque,” was lifted to heaven, and returned to earth to carry on his teachings. At that time there was no mosque in Jerusalem, but 15 years later, Caliph Umar built a small mosque to commemorate the prophet's night visit. The Al Aqsa Mosque (“the farthest mosque”) was built in AD 705, then rebuilt in 754, 780, and 1035. The Dome of the Rock was built in AD 692 over the place where Mohammad supposedly ascended to heaven. This rock is also identified by Christians and Jews as the place where Abraham offered Isaac and the location of the Holy of Holies in the Jewish Temple. During the Crusades, Christians took temporary control of the Temple Mount, and the Al Aqsa Mosque was used as a palace and church in 1099.

The Temple Mount continues to be the center of controversy today. Though they are barred from entering the Muslim areas, Jews pray at the Western Wall (also known as theWailing Wall), part of the remaining structure from the second Temple. The Islamic Waqf has created controversy with their decision to allow major renovations to the underground areas of the Temple Mount without regard to archaeological artifacts. Huge loads of earth have been removed from the area and dumped elsewhere. Archaeologists sifting through the dumped earth have recovered several artifacts of Jewish origin, though nothing that can be directly tied to the Jewish Temple. Many Jews are making preparations for the Third Temple to be built on the site, and Christians also look with interest on those preparations. According to the prophecy of Daniel 9:27, it appears that there will be another Temple built, for there will be sacrifices which are stopped by the antichrist. Since the other parts of Daniel's prophecies were fulfilled literally, leading up to Jesus' life and death, we look for this part to be literally fulfilled also.

Two different temples right. The Millennium Temple where Jesus reigns from and the Tribulation temple (with 2 witnesses) in which antiChrist enters and declares himself as god.

They could be one in the same, if not then that would make a third and forth temple.

I do not see a forth temple in scripture. The two witnesses stand before the temple during the tribulation period, in which the antichrist goes in and claims to be God. Then when our Lord comes back, He goes in and takes His rightful place in the temple and cast the antichrist, false prophet, and satan into hell.

I think that the Ashkenazi Jews (Rothchilds) & the Freemasons will have a hand in it. Do Google searches for Masonic symbols & Israel (pics) & you will be surprised. They even have a Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv.

Israeli Secrets I Shouldn't Know

Just look at their Supreme Court Building built by Rothchilds! It's loaded with Masonic symbols.

Yo, everyone just ask God and seek what He says. He would most definitely give you an answer, ask for wisdom, discernment, and revelation.

I see either a third Temple (apostate/ false temple) being built for the tribulation, followed by a new Millenium Temple built to Ezekiel specs;
Or, that the place, where the Temple should be, is desecrated by the "man of sin", and the Temple of the Millenium comes after the Return.

The other option is that the Millenium Temple is made out of living stones, and the vision of Ezekiel is metaphorical.

I usually go with option 1,
as being the most plausible, and the most literal.

So depending on the interpretation, the Vatican, the Jews, or Christ Himself are the builders.
I guess we will find out very soon.

Jesus already rebuilt the temple. (John 2:19). In old testament times you basically had to be born into God's family physically. But God's people and temple are no longer physical but spiritual. John 1:11 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

John 18:36
Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place."

For Christians this is true, but for the Jew it is not.

The Jews have stated that they will rebuild the temple, and have even made the stuff to go in the temple already.
When then applied to the vision in the book of Ezekiel and Revelations 11 you will see that a third temple will be built.

I should think we would need to go over the spiritual significance of the physical temple and what it symbolizes for us, what the message of it is from the Lord.

If we go back to the history of the temple, it was the ark of the covenant that was the center of the temple, the place where Christ and the Lord lived. The main function of the temple was as the place where blood (representing the blood of Christ) was shed for atonement of sins. This was carried out by the high priest.Christ said that when the temple was destroyed, in three days he would raise it up again, and in Hebrew 10 it explains how Christ did raise the temple again and became our high priest. The veil to the holy of holy was split, Jews and gentiles became one people In Christ, Christ’s blood shed for our sins was completely done.

When the temple had been destroyed, before, and the Hebrews were sent to Babylon, it was because they had abused the temple. In Babylon, the Hebrews were allowed to worship God, but they were doing this with their own ways and not as God had told them to.It is very like people are doing, today, using their own ideas of how to worship instead of strictly by scripture.Ezra and Nehemiah tells of reestablishing temple and Torah worship for Hebrews, much as Christ did for us at His crucifixion.

Usually, by looking at history we can determine what the prophecies mean about our future. We know Christ is returning.Christ is our high priest, and does not reside in a brick and mortar temple. Those things will not change ever. What would God’s purpose be in the building of a new brick and mortar temple?

Jesus was talking about himself when he said that, his crucifixion/death and resurrection.

Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
- John 2:19

The Jews misunderstood what he meant too.
