What Gospel will you preach if there are no commandments? How can you tell someone to turn from sin and follow Christ, if by no laws there is no sin?

Apparently the commandments only apply to the lost, as the church is not under the law.

Well first God gave us laws because there is sin. We don't have sin because of laws. The ten commandments were given to us because of our sin. And yes the ten commandments do apply to the church. Even though we are bought by the blood of Christ we still need to follow those commandments.

The commandments let us know what sin is, if someone is in adultery how can a believer go to them and tell the to turn from sin and follow Christ if we don't need to keep those commandments.

OK maybe I am misunderstanding your OP. Are you talking about someone who doesn't believe the Bible?

Whoever is telling you we don't need to follow the ten commandments is a bit wrong.

We don't keep The Commandments to be saved, We keep The Commandments because we are saved.

Maybe they are talking about other Old Testament laws?

How can a Christ believer go to an unbeliever and preach the gospel, and say repent and turn from sin, If by a lot of peoples understanding the law is done away with.

Well apparently you haven't been reading the threads where some talk against The Sabbath, and the other 9 commandments.

OK well first with people who aren't believers we have to approach the subject gently. We can't just say repent or die. Talk to them just introduce them to what Christ did for us. We can't push the subject, if they listen then keep going. If you can see they are agitated by it then we need to back off a bit. Slow is best when talking to a non Christian.
Ok I see what you are saying about the commandments. Let me ask you...what does Jesus tell us about the ten commandments?

Are you following people or God? All scriptures are spoken by one true God with one voice, nothing says we should listen to one scripture in order to find another not true. If we think that it doesn't mean we must cancel God, scripture is all wrong, or we should one scripture and ditch the other. What it means is that it is time to understand the unity.

Scripture tells us that God does not give us the power to determine our own salvation in any way, not even by working for it. That is only for God to do and God calls it grace He gives us. Another way that scripture explains that is that we aren't under law. Scripture explains the faith that is required is belief in Him strong enough we can act on it, depending completely on it.

Scripture tells us the law in Holy, and what is holy we are told is of love. So the law is given to us to guide us because God loves us. We are told by Christ that not a bit of the law is done away with, it all stands. Christ says He and the Father are one, and speak with the same voice. If we look at each and every law, each one is designed in love or telling us how to express love.

So every single verse of scripture is saying only one thing, and when we see it saying something different it means we need to get one our knees in prayer asking for understanding.

Yes, I know, he sums them up to two main ones.. but people keep missing the whole point of why he said that.. I already posted scripture on other threads to explain that.

And my question was directed to those "believers" who say The Ten Commandments are done away.

I was being sarcastic. I stand firm of what I believe, and I believe the Ten Commandments are not done away with and that includes The Sabbath.

That's very snappy. Try being saved without keeping the commands.

Well then thats where the whole being born again part comes into play.. I can sense you are offended, if I've offended you I apologize by I am asking a legitimate question.

And read what I wrote again, No one is saved by keeping them but because we are saved out of love, through The Holy Spirit we keep them.

Christians who say the ten commandments are done away with...I think they need to read the Bible more. Yes we are saved by grace through faith but we still need to follow those commands (plus the one Jesus added "love thy neighbor as thyself").

We cannot add to anything Jesus did for us but we don't just "sit back and watch" either
