In order to come to the truth today you have to separate yourself from mainline teachings and allow God to lead you no matter where He takes you. In doing this you will need to untie and allow God to retie many of the things you've once believed. Let's start with how we came to believe that the early church gathered on the first day. First of all know that this contradicts the whole Bible, God's plan and distorts creation week itself.

God has given us His timeline of evens in Leviticus but man has turned away from using God's map, as a result, we are following a system that rose up and changed God's times and Law. This was prophesied by God to happen so don't be shocked that it did. Jesus had to die on Passover because He was the fulfillment of the Law. If He didn't follow God's timeline then He is not the Messiah. The day after Passover was the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This day was a Sabbath, but not just an ordinary Sabbath, it was a high Sabbath because it only came once a year. The next day was a regular work day then came the seventh day Sabbath. After the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread they were instructed to count seven Sabbaths and then add a day which makes 50. During the week of Jesus' crucifixion they were counting the Sabbaths. So it wasn't the first day of the week, it was the first Sabbath. The first Sabbath of the seven that they needed to count. Listen to how they would count Sabbaths.

Luke 6:1 Now it happened on the second Sabbath after the first that He went through the grain fields.

Notice Luke counting the Sabbaths. He says whatever happened happened on the second Sabbath after the first Sabbath. He is counting the Sabbaths. This is very important to grasp because this is where the Beast kingdom has done some tweaking to change God's seventh day Sabbath.

Mark 16:2 Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.

The words, "on the first day of the week" are not accurate. The words, "day of the week" should not be there. What should be there is Sabbath. The verses should read like this, "On the first Sabbath" not "On the first day of the week".

Remember, there were two Sabbaths on the week of Jesus' crucifixion with a normal work day in between. Jesus died on Passover, which was Wednesday then came the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, this was a high Sabbath. Mary bought the spices after the high Sabbath, which was (Thursday) that first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, she prepared the spices all day (Friday) and then she rested on the seventh day Sabbath (Saturday).

Take some time a check this out. You will have to do a little leg work but if you're hungry you will. Be blessed and grow...

So...(What scripture do you use) wasn't good enough that you had to add another post on which day to meet on....

ACTS....THE CHURCH MET DAILY......You suppose if it had been wrong that it the Bible would have stated that it was wrong?

You really think that God cannot or would not receive HONOR from his people worshipping him on any and or all days of the week?

All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

(Acts 2:44-47)

you're right,
they didn't *just* meet on the first day of the week;
they met every day!

It's amazing how some people are going backwards as late as 2014, have the need to live a reenactment of the law versus grace debate of the first century. Any mature Christian should be way, way beyond such things, even beyond basic doctrines people are still fiercely bickering over,

Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permit.

Another sabbath thread huh? Look I dont really care if the sabbath is on sunday or saturday I can go to church on saturday if I wanted to as most churches have both a saturday and sunday service, but I worship and seek and love the Lord everyday. To me everyday is the sabbath, I make each day special, sacred and honorable to him. So in a way i keep the sabbath as saturday and sunday and all days of the week are the same.

Im sure there are at least 300 other sabbath threads and from evidence of History they all probably have the same message and likely many more will be created and I will respond the same in all of them. The question isnt is there going to be another sabbath thread the question is will it be today or tomorrow?

No doubt...right there in black and white...or blue in your case HAHAH I don't understand why many will go to seed on this topic when it is PLAIN from the above text that God will receive worship on any day, every day......another point....God had established ONE PLACE of BIBLICAL worship during the days of Israel/Judah starting with the tabernacle and then the temple....but after the resurrection the way of worship was opened to both Gentile and Jews who are no longer divided as the two have been made ONE and the HOLIEST was OPENED unto the PRIESTHOOD of BELIEVERS and WHERE TWO or THREE are gathered in my name there am I IN THE MIDST!

Actually the Sabbath has little to do about worship and everything to do about REST, whether it's people, animals or land.

Acts 20:7 "And upon the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul discoursed with them, intending to depart on the morrow; and prolonged his speech until midnight"

The verb "gathered" is passive voice rather than active voice meaning it was not an active decision the disciples made for themselves to assemble on the first day of the week. But the decision to gather together was made external to the disciples by God. So not only did the disciples gather on Sunday but were passively brought together by a directive of God to meet on Sunday.

The phrase "of the week" is from the Greek word sabbaton. The Jews used the Sabbath day as the base day for the days of the week. So first day of the week or first day from Sabbath would be Sunday. Second day of the week or second day from Sabbath would be Monday and so on.

Mark 16:1- "And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
2- And very early in the morning the first day of the week,(sabbaton) they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun."

Verse 1 says "Sabbath was past" so the "first day of the week" in verse 2 would be Sunday. If "first day of week" meant the Sabbath day, then there would have been two Sabbath days in a row, which is not possible.

Can I love my wife and sleep with my neighbor's wife? I can gather every day but I can't obey the fourth commandment every day. Our love is expressed through our faithfulness to the ways of God as representing Him as His children. Now don't say every day is the Sabbath because if it were you would go broke. Remember, the fourth commandment directs us, our working animals, our sons and daughter, our servants and even those who are not God's people to rest in honor of what the seventh day represents. I can personally rest in Christ but I can make my sons, daughters, servants, strangers and working animals rest in Jesus. This means the seventh day is a literal day in which Jesus said He was Lord of and the early church gathered on.

Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

Now instead of fighting for man made doctrines and traditions, which Jesus most certainly had a problem with, start doing your research, test everything like God says and come out of Babylon, like God says.

My response to this is to remember Jesus and the apostles didnt rest on the sabbath all the time, if you recall they ate and they did the Lords work on the sabbath. If its the sabbath I will continue to work for God, I will seek him and I will keep holy that which is holy but I will do it when and how God says to not other people who are still stuck on subjects like keeping the sabbath. I have moved on from such things and sought after higher things and thicker meat.

Zzzzzzzzz, whenever you offer the Gospel to your sons, daughters and servants etc., you are offering them rest.
And as far as physical rest goes, yes we all need that whenever we are weary, not just on Saturday...I sleep each night for example.

You see, truth is very important to me and to God. Most here have not done their research and don't care to do so but I do. Deception and following false teachings is not a safe place to be or to take lightly. Okay, here is something you need to reconcile with in order to come to the truth.

Mark 16:1- "And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
You yourself underlined, "sabbath was past". Now work that into this.

Luke 23:56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

Mary bought the spices after the Sabbath passed and then rested on the Sabbath according to the fourth commandment. If you guys choose to say in Babylon then do so. If not, then do your research and allow God to pull you out.

Oh I do test everything and while I am there..I will equally NOT REJECT OTHER VERSES that GIVE weight to a DEEPER UNDERSTANDING......If you choose to limit yourself by a rejection of the verses given out of Acts that PROOVES the PEOPLE met DAILY then go ahead dude........! No biggie to me for sure!

You see, truth is very important to me and to God.

what's more important?

  • truth ?
  • elevating a single day of the week ?

the book of Acts makes it clear that the believers met on every day of the week.
the epistle to the Colossians makes it clear that we should not judge anyone regarding a sabbath day.
the book of Hebrews makes it clear that the Sabbath is much more than a day on a calendar.

now, it is wonderful that you would honor the Sabbath on a single day every week; if anyone honors a day he honors it to God.
but it is clearly wrong to say that any believer who doesn't abide by your law is 'in Babylon'

There is no commandment against gathering every day but there is a commandment that says remember the seventh day to keep in holy. The Apostles traveled everywhere preaching Christ but when the congregation gathered for sacred assembly it was on the day the God ordained and Jesus is Lord of.

Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.
