Revelations 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

I expressed my testimony in a chat room the other day and it was looked upon as if I was currently in that testimony. I was testifying what Jesus did in my life and how He saved me from a separation due to my defiance and anger toward God and if He can rescue the most lost souls He can rescue anyone. Well...some who heard me speaking believe I have tones of issues still looming about. How is it possible that your testimony personifies your current state? Should we not sound off with "How Jesus brought me through" without it being turn back on us? Satan hates our testimonies due to its power to enlarge the body of Christ and quite frankly it will overcome him. How is that we don't understand that the Good Tidings/Good News of Jesus is en capsuled in how we TESTIFY what Christ did in our lives? Instead we are disclosed to what a person use to be by his testimony and say" wow he or she did a crime worst then me so that puts me high on the food chain with God" then the rational encouragement starts to come in. HUH?!!! How bout " ...HALLELUIA, Look what God has done!" When you provide your testimony it delivers and Upper Cut to the chin of the enemy (spiritually speaking) and of course it is commandeered by God. So if you suppress what Jesus did in your life, How can you over come anything?

Again...
Revelations 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

True, brother! And no testimony is too small to encourage the Body of Christ. I don't have any tales of sex, violence, drugs, alcohol, the occult etc. but I do have something common to all. A need for Christ. We all try to be our own God and that doesn't work. When we allow God to be Lord of our lives, we realise we have found Love, Hope, Truth Eternal and so much more. We don't have to carry our stupidly heavy burdens on our own. We can give them to Him and the Holy Spirit can work on our hearts to grow up to be more like Christ. He's everything we need.

Amen, And I'm sounding off individual accountability, however a Christians behavior should not defy what is written for our instruction nor are there grey areas lenient for those who chose to fellowship on CC. Growth and patients are inevitable.

Testimony is powerful. My favorite part of camp as a teen was when all the kids would get up (after a moving service, or group devotions) and share with us, their hurts and joys, always attributing their deep-rooted Joy to God. "I thought i was finished, but God gave me a new beginning, a better beginning in Christ." These types of praises are awesome. But a testimony alone is not enough. If so, listen to the same testimony each day for a month on tape... or perhaps read it each day, with no words changed... I bet the repetition changes how you respond. That is a great mystery of God, timing.
God knows when it is best to share and with whom.

Superman, don't be discouraged or stay irritated by unwanted criticisms. Continue to let God grow your testimony as you continue to surrender to Him. And keep on considering-- with God's help-- when and with whom to praise God by sharing your testimony.

Thanks for being so honest on this matter. It forced me to evaluate the topic and how I respond to testimonies.

I was talking to my wife about this the other night. He came to her long before He came into me (that is a long story, and posted here). She has seen the extreme manifestation of Gods power in my life, and just the literal overnight change in ALL my behavior, and she sometimes feels underwhelmed by her own. She was able to submit to Him in a room, by her own, without some crazy life experience to shock her out of the comfort the world offers(a superficial comfort). I know sometimes the big crazy, seemingly great Testimonies do show the undeniable power of God, and make entertaining stories, but I told her on the day I'm standing in front of Him for judgment I'd rather be able to give her account. Not that any one is better than the other, or that I would change anything, but I would rather tell Him I was open to Him without something tragic having to happen. Just a different perspective. The beauty of it all is that no matter where you are from or how He filled you we all "KNOW" what it means.
