I am thinking about attending a SDA church. I desire only those who belong to that denomination to answer so I can understand their doctrinal beliefs. These are the issues that I am interested in.

1. teachings of creation.
2. teachings of genealogy.
3. teachings of the covenant with Abraham.
4. teachings of the law given to Moses.
5. teachings of the prophets concerning prophecy of Christ's coming at birth and His 2nd coming.
6. teachings of faith that include part or all of the above.
7. teachings of the Sabbath as more than just a particular day.
8. teachings on when the New Testament began.
9. teachings of how salvation works as a way of life with Passover and feasts.
10. teachings of the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek languages for proper understanding of scripture.
11. teachings of current events and how they apply to Christians today.
12. teachings of trinity and how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together as a "unit of One."

For the past couple weeks I have been attending online SDA services. I really do not know very much about this denomination but do know that it is a bible believing church that preaches the gospel of Jesus, and that we are saved through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross and we start living for Him when we repent of sins of our past and invite Him into our hearts. For me, that is the most important part. I also know that there is a lot more to the Sabbath than just simply going to church on Saturday. The Sabbath is a very deep subject and is one that I am anxious to know more about through my reading and studying of the Word of God.

Don't just limit it to reading and studying. Continue doing it. The more you do it, the more God will teach you. For as many faults as SDA's have, they do honor the Sabbath and there is something to be said for that. If there are no other congregations honoring the Sabbath near you, the SDA's are a decent alternative. Keeping the Sabbath in fellowship with others is far better than doing it by yourself.

I am thinking about attending a SDA church. I desire only those who belong to that denomination to answer so I can understand their doctrinal beliefs. These are the issues that I am interested in.

1. teachings of creation.

We believe as it is written in the first few chapters of Genesis not in evolution.

2. teachings of genealogy.

Again believe as the genealogy is written in God's word as listed in the old testament and as it is listed in the new testament when they write about the genealogy of Christ.

3. teachings of the covenant with Abraham.

I know that God asked Abraham to circumcise all the males of his household including himself as part of that covenant setting his family apart for a special purpose for God, but when we get to the new testament it is not necessary and more of a choice matter in our time. Being circumcised has nothing to do with salvation.

4. teachings of the law given to Moses.

We believe that the 10 Commandments are still valid today and serve the purpose of showing us what sin is leading us to repentance to come to Jesus and accept Him as our Savior and receiving the gift of salvation and grace that is offered to us. We do not believe the 10 Commandments were nailed to the cross but were fulfilled at the cross. God's laws of the 10 are still a valid guideline showing the rules of God's government that even the Angels follow.

5. teachings of the prophets concerning prophecy of Christ's coming at birth and His 2nd coming.

Again I defer to the Bible it tells us all about the prophecies of Jesus birth and also tells us what we need to know about Jesus second coming. It is there for all to read we don't add anything to what the Bible already tells us.

6. teachings of faith that include part or all of the above.

Bible tells us that faith without works is dead. Does that mean we are saved by works? Absolutely not, but when you have faith in God you will do what Abraham did as he showed his faith in going to the mountain with wood and his son to offer the sacrifice that God had directed him to give.

Abraham had faith in God, Abraham listened and obeyed the instructions God gave him which was to take his son, go to the mountain and offer said son as a sacrifice. Abraham had faith and worked in his actions. God rewarded Abrahams faith with a ram caught in the bush to offer as the sacrifice instead of his son.

This is what I mean about faith with works. When we love God we will listen and obey what He has asked us to do and when we show our faith the works/fruits will follow not because the works save us but because we love God and do what He asks us to.

7. teachings of the Sabbath as more than just a particular day.

So many times I am told that the Sabbath was given only to the Jews on Mt. Sinai but this is not true. The Sabbath was given at the end of the creation week in the 7th day when God rested from all His work He blessed it, sanctified and hallowed that day we look at it as the seal and signature that God is the Creator God of all things and is worthy of our worship.

No where in the Bible is it stated that the 7th day Sabbath was changed to Sunday because of the resurrection and myself personally I believe that even in death Jesus rested on the Sabbath and raised the day after still honoring the 7th day Sabbath.

In Isaiah it says from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another all will come and worship before the Lord so I believe that we will still celebrate the Sabbath in heaven with God and all the heavenly hosts.

8. teachings on when the New Testament began.

I don't know when the new testament began as a lay person I just know in my Bible it begins with Matthew so this question is beyond my study or knowledge.

9. teachings of how salvation works as a way of life with Passover and feasts.

I know that God set up the sacrificial system with Moses as a shadow showing that the wages of sin is death someone has to die to pay the penalty and before Jesus came God gave this animal sacrifice system to the Jews and it should have taught them that it was pointing to Jesus the true lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world, but they didn't get it and did not recognize Jesus when He came. The feasts again were pointing to this ultimate sacrifice and again they didn't get it.

Even when Jesus came and was that sacrifice it did not do away with the penalty part of sin Jesus still did have to die to pay for all the sins that we have committed, but once Jesus did die it was not necessary for those animal sacrifices to continue as the ultimate sacrifice had been made. So I do believe the sacrificial law was nailed to the cross in the form of Jesus dying there but it was fulfilled at that point.

Salvation only comes through Jesus and His blood that covers our sins. We come to Him acknowledge we are a sinner ask Him to come in our hearts, accept the sacrifice He has made for us and then convicted by the Holy Spirit we are able to repent and ask for forgiveness and accept the robe of righteousness of Jesus blood that covers our sins by His grace. Jesus is the only way to the Father.

10. teachings of the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek languages for proper understanding of scripture.

This is way beyond my knowledge and understanding as I am not a preacher just a regular person, but I have heard our ministers refer to Greek words and the meaning of or a Hebrew word and the mean of as they were preaching so I am sure they are well studied in these areas. Me not so much. I just read and understand English and at times a little trouble with that as I am Blond....lol

11. teachings of current events and how they apply to Christians today.

We believe that we are living in the end times and that Jesus could come anytime as a thief in the night. God only knows when he will come. The Bible tells us that certain events must occur before then and I like to say that the Bible tells us exactly when He is coming in the verse that says the gospel of the kingdom will be preached to all nations and then the end will come....Just does not give us the day and time. But when everyone has had a chance as the verse say gospel to all nations then the end will certainly come.

12. teachings of trinity and how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together as a "unit of One.

We do believe in the trinity of God the Father - God the Son and God the Holy Spirit three in one. Again as a lay person I don't know how that works I just trust God that He is three in one a pastor would do a much better job than me in this question but I have done the best of my ability to answer your questions. I don't know everything and trust that God can fill in the blanks for me. I ask the Holy Spirit to come and dwell in my heart every day as I know I can't live without God in my life. I was dead before but now with God I am alive. "
May God bless you in your walk with Jesus. Look in your quote area I answered best I could.

Thank you for your response. If I may go deeper into detail may I ask follow up questions? If you don't have answers to these that's fine, maybe someone else does. I am not trying to do any more than get answers to questions. They are sincere and not leading. Please take them at face value. You are very kind to spend time and it's obvious you care. Thank you.
I know that God asked Abraham to circumcise all the males of his household including himself as part of that covenant setting his family apart for a special purpose for God, but when we get to the new testament it is not necessary and more of a choice matter in our time. Being circumcised has nothing to do with salvation.
Would the churches beliefs include these things?
Deuteronomy 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked .
Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
We believe that the 10 Commandments are still valid today and serve the purpose of showing us what sin is leading us to repentance to come to Jesus and accept Him as our Savior and receiving the gift of salvation and grace that is offered to us. We do not believe the 10 Commandments were nailed to the cross but were fulfilled at the cross. God's laws of the 10 are still a valid guideline showing the rules of God's government that even the Angels follow.
Is there any more to the law that is observed like Leviticus 19 and Deuteronomy 6 concerning in the principles of loving God and our Neighbor?
Is the temple made without hands related to the principles of the temple worship in the Old Covenant like the priest being a foreshadow of Christ and laying hands on the head of an animal for the one offering to be connected with the sacrifice? Such as these for example. I know there's more.
In Isaiah it says from one new moon to another and from one Sabbath to another all will come and worship before the Lord so I believe that we will still celebrate the Sabbath in heaven with God and all the heavenly hosts.
Does the church include this understanding within the Sabbath?
Hebrews 4:1 Let us therefore fear , lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

The first day of the feast of tabernacles, which was a Sabbath, the Israelites worked very had to build booths.

Leviticus 23:39-40 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days.
I don't know when the new testament began as a lay person I just know in my Bible it begins with Matthew so this question is beyond my study or knowledge.
This is only for your understanding
Hebrews 9:16-17 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator . 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth .
So I do believe the sacrificial law was nailed to the cross in the form of Jesus dying there but it was fulfilled at that point. Salvation only comes through Jesus and His blood that covers our sins
Amen. I also believe that. Does the church believe that sacrifice continues in principle after we are born again?
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 1
Corinthians 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily , and follow me.
We believe that we are living in the end times and that Jesus could come anytime as a thief in the night. God only knows when he will come.
Does the church believe in a pre-tribulation rapture?
Matthew 24:29-31 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened , and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken : And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn , and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other .
I was dead before but now with God I am alive. "
May God bless you in your walk with Jesus. Look in your quote area I answered best I could.
Thank you so very much for your time and patience with me. As I have said concerning these follow up question, they are not to put you “on the spot” or anything of the sort. My wife and I are in the process of finding a church. Our neighbor is leaving their church because of a certain type of dictatorship endorsed there, and we are planing to attend the SDA this Saturday to investigate and see if it is right for us and if God approves. Everything else you have said that I didn't quote is right on in my estimation.

I have read a little about Ellen G White being a SDA prophetess. Her visions are a little off in my estimation, and I am wondering if anyone can enlighten me about how the church esteems her prophecies today. This is open to anyone who speaks objectively. From what I have read the church has changed her book, or has re-done certain things different from what she wrote in the 1800. 2 days ago we emailed the local pastor questions concerning the SDA. To this day we haven't had any return explanations even though I called them and talked to his wife. She was nice and said she would give him the message that I called. Nothing yet. Thanks in advance everyone, or anyone.

Seventh-day Adventism has continued to evolve. They continue to regard Ellen G. White as having a unique, God-given gift of prophecy. They continue to hold to the sabbath and to their emphasis on healthy eating and living. They continue to deny both the immortality of the soul and the reality of hell as eternal, conscious torment. Successors to Ellen G. White have also developed the distinctive and troubling doctrine of Investigative Judgment. (CARM helpfully lists their affirmations, denials and most troubling teachings and provides this counsel: “There are too many problems within Seventh-day Adventism to recommend it as a safe church. Though there are Seventh-day Adventist groups that are within orthodoxy, there are too many of them that are not.”)

In contrast to White’s teaching on the eternal destiny of those who do not know the Lord, the Bible teaches that hell is real, that it is eternal, and that in hell God’s wrath is poured out in conscious, everlasting punishment. John the Baptist spoke of Jesus, saying, “His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12). Jesus himself spoke of hell saying, “if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire” and “these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Mark 9:43, Matthew 25:46). And in the epistles, Paul warned “They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might” (2 Thessalonians 1:9). Only by deliberately twisting the Scriptures can anyone deny the terrifying reality that hell is real and that those who do not know the Lord will be there to face his wrath forever.

please review this. it seems very inconsistant

12. teachings of trinity and how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together as a "unit of One."
I'm not affiliated with SDA but I do have several friends who came out of that denomination. The reason they give for leaving is that SDA does not practice God's Feast Days as outlined in Leviticus 23.

Thank you so much!
That was my main concern in relation to Sabbath. The feasts are appointed times of observance. the new moon is the sign to observe times of feasts, harvests, planting and pruning, etc. Sabbath is central to harvests, months, seasons and days. Our Lord is Lord of the Sabbath and it's His call on how we are to observe them and when. These times/appointments were made for us.

OP 7. teachings of the Sabbath as more than just a particular day.

Deuteronomy 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked .

Personally yes as for SDA Church too yes....For me in the last 4 years I have submitted myself to God - before I hadn't really understood salvation not SDA churches fault just me coming from a unbelieving family and being around believers such as my aunt who would take me to church with her kids. So I was confused with the way I grew up. Holy Spirit has been working on my heart and explained salvation to me I know I must have a humble heart and submit to the Holy Spirit in order to change me and help me to overcome the sins that separate me from God. To me this is a circumcised heart to submit to God's will and not resist to be humble and grateful for God's work in my life as He is the only one who can change me into the person He wants me to be.

Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

I think my answer for Deuteronomy would also answer for Colossians... SDA church would also go along with this verse....I do need to be humble and submit my will to God so He can help me to get rid of the sin in my life and I know personally that is my desire and am working with God on correcting my (pet) sins I have held onto for so long and it is refreshing to know that I am in God's will and He is working with me to be an overcomer. But I had to submit my stubborn will to Him first in order for this to happen.

Is there any more to the law that is observed like Leviticus 19 and Deuteronomy 6 concerning in the principles of loving God and our Neighbor?

I glanced at both chapters and for the most part it looks to me like it is reinforcing the 10 Commandments. Leviticus also is speaking against witchcraft and a little about sacrifices. SDA Church does believe the 10 Commandments are still valid as I previously stated in first response and if you really break down the 10 Commandment they are a law of love. The first 4 are our love toward God and notice they are listed first meaning that God should always be first in our lives, the last 6 are to show love toward our fellow men. The 10 Commandments are a law of love that was summarized in the New Testament in Love the Lord your God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself.

Is the temple made without hands related to the principles of the temple worship in the Old Covenant like the priest being a foreshadow of Christ and laying hands on the head of an animal for the one offering to be connected with the sacrifice? Such as these for example. I know there's more.

Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

These passages and even before referring to being stubborn in our hearts that we should have faith in God and the sacrifice of Jesus blood that we rest in Jesus salvation and not our works which would keep us out of heaven. We can't get to heaven working our way there but must by faith rest in the sacrifice Jesus made for us. God gave us the Sabbath as a sign of this rest in Jesus. As at the end of creation God rested from all His work. Please understand I am not an authority I am just a regular person and this is my understanding as I feel presented by God and that SDA church would agree with. This is how I understand the verses you asked about.

Hebrews 9:16-17 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator . 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth .
Amen. I also believe that.

Does the church believe that sacrifice continues in principle after we are born again?

I don't really understand much about the feasts and festivals that the Jewish people observed but in answer to your question above Jesus was our ultimate sacrifice and His blood covers our sins when we ask for forgiveness so every time a sinner comes to Jesus his sacrifice is sufficient for them....I don't know if I answered your question but I tried.

The verses you listed above is where I am as an individual today, in that I am working with the Holy Spirit to die daily to take up my cross and follow Jesus. My hearts desire is to become more and more like Jesus everyday. I have had a gluttony problem for a long time and God is working with me to eat healthier and get my body temple into shape I could not do this without Him and have only had success after submitting my will to Him. Sanctification is the work of a lifetime and we all have to submit to God and walk with Him daily in order to be truly successful in this walk with Jesus.

Does the church believe in a pre-tribulation rapture? No

Not pre-tribulation, just as the Israelites were not taken out of the plagues in Egypt God was with them during those plagues the same will be in the very end. Psalm 91 is my favorite Bible chapter in that we rest under God's wing of protection and even though we see the destruction of the wicked it will not come near us. Perfect love casts out all fear and when we submit to God and His protection/love we have nothing to fear.

SDA church believes Jesus return that every eye will see Him. He will come with a shout, voice of the arch angel, trumpets blowing the dead in Christ shall rise first then we that remain alive will be caught up into the clouds. The wicked will cry for the rocks to fall on them and will be destroyed by the brightness of His coming. A mighty earthquake will take place at that time.

The earth will be in ruins righteous will go to heaven for a thousand years and satan will be bound to this earth 1000 years with is evil angels and no one to tempt as the righteous will be in heaven and the wicked dead.

Again I have answered in your quote area My responses are in red. I hope that this helps with the questions, but I encourage you to seek out the Pastor after the church service and set an appointment with him to answer some of these questions as I am not formally educated as a minister is. I just have the Holy Spirit as my teacher, best teacher ever by the way and am still in school myself as this is a lifetime educational study for me and the rest of us. I know I don't have all the answers, but as you continue to pray to God and seek the truth God will reveal His truth to you as He is revealing it to me day by day. Blessings to you and your family in your walk with Jesus.

Thank you for your response in helping me to understand the SDA doctrine better. Hats off to you in respect, but have differences from the millennial period, and other things that I have read on line. Still haven't heard back from the local pastor of SDA that we plan on attending tomorrow. You'e great in caring enough to advise us of what you know about the doctrinal beliefs of the church.

I have learned one thing so far after the pastor of the church emailed us back. The SDA is no different than the Baptist churches I have been affiliated with except that they assemble on Saturday instead of Sunday. I'm actually looking for more because we are to grow in faith. We are not to be stalemated in faith by doctrinal beliefs that quit after they go so far saying "that's all there is and no more." There is no end to God's glory, and His grace given to us. We are to strive toward maturity and understanding. It is a never ending process in my opinion.

God's true people follow His voice and where ever He leads and God has His people in all denominations. It is the Holy Spirit that continues to help us grow in the truth of God's word and again that is not a denomination. In observation I have found there is good and bad in all. Legalists and self righteous represented in all denominations. Our safe haven is to stick close to God and keep our eyes on Jesus and listen to the Holy Spirits prompting. Corporate church/denominations can disappoint us. We hold God's hand and keep moving forward. I continue to worship at an SDA church but it is God/Jesus/Holy Spirit that are my true Leaders/Teachers.

Beliefs: The Official Site of the Seventh-day Adventist world church Here is a link to the SDA website. Read for yourself, do not listen to 2nd hand info.
Thank you. I am somewhat disappointed that the church doesn't acknowledge the spiritual aspects of the feasts and this is why. One feast is a prophecy of the coming millennium and we are exhorted to rehearse it in Spirit within the church. SDA doesn't do that according to the pastor I receive an email from, and also others who are of this denomination. Today, most denominations don't recognize or teach the spiritual concepts of the feasts. I even went to a Messianic assembly 2 years ago and they didn't know anything about the feasts either but tried to pretend they did.

Zechariah 14:16-19
16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
18 And if the family of Egypt go not up , and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

LOL I'm not talking about physically making huts to eat and sleep in.

Read pages 49 thru 55 in this short book for starters, and you will see what I'm getting at. There is more in the book if you're interested.

The 7 feasts were shadows. The feasts required sacrifices, so if you say we should keep the feasts then you have to sacrifice as well. The sacrifices pointed to Jesus who would be our sacrifice. In doing sacrifice then you are saying Christ has not yet come.

I'm not saying that, even though we are to present our bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God which is expected and a reasonable service. There are only 3 feasts that are in the law which are required for us to observe (not seven) and those are supposed to be observed through Christ in the Spirit given of God.

This is the improper way to observe the feasts.

Malachi 2:3 Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.

Luke 20:46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds [they are] without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead , plucked up by the roots ;

This is the proper way to observe the feasts

Nehemiah 8:18 Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

Nehemiah 9:1-3
1 Now in the twenty and fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them. 2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers , and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of the LORD their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed , and worshipped the LORD their God.

1 Corinthians 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast , not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Acts 18:20-21
20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;
21 But bade them farewell , saying , I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will . And he sailed from Ephesus.

Galatians 6:6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.

Hebrews 13:6 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

There is still a temple made without hands, our High Priest who is Christ Jesus, so the Spiritual principles of the foreshadows of those things still apply in Spirit to all, for man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that has ever proceeded out of the mouth of God. The bread exemplifies the carnal and God's word has always been spiritual for "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24)

Observe the feasts with this in mind. If our observation of the foreshadow of things to come is seen only in the physical we are of a carnal mind. If we are subject to the principles of the righteousness of God's word in "Spirit" we will view the feasts in a way that He has always meant them to be observed. We don't kill animals anymore, but we take up our cross daily and follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:5-7
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be .

Barnes Verse 8. Let us keep the feast. Margin, Holy day-εορταζωμεν. This is language drawn from the paschal feast, and is used by Paul frequently to carry out and apply his illustration. It does not mean literally the paschal supper here-for that had ceased to be observed by Christians-nor the Lord's Supper particularly; but the sense is, "As the Jews when they celebrated the paschal supper, on the slaying and sacrifice of the paschal lamb, put away all leaven as emblematic of sin, so let us, in the slaying of our sacrifice, and in all the duties, institutions, and events consequent thereon, put away all wickedness from our hearts as individuals, and from our societies and churches. Let us engage in the service of God by putting away all evil."

Bible knowledge Commentary 5:7-8. As the literal yeast was removed from the house during the Festival of Unleavened Bread (Ex. 12:15-20; 13:1-10), so that which it illustrated, sin, was to be removed from the house of God, the local church, during its “Festival of Unleavened Bread,” a continual observance for a Christian who has found in Christ’s death on the cross the once-for-all sacrifice of the Passover Lamb (cf. John 1:29; Heb. 10:10, 14). This was nowhere more true than in the celebration which commemorated that sacrificial act, the Lord’s Supper, the quintessential act of fellowship for Christians. Probably Paul meant to exclude the unrepentant Christian from this meal in particular.

Hard Sayings of the Bible In 1 Cor. 5, Paul has addressed the presence of a particularly scandalous case of sexual immorality. After calling for action that could lead to the offender's salvation, Paul speaks about the nature of the Christian fellowship via elements from the Jewish Passover (1 Cor. 5:6-8). The church is like the dough used for the Passover bread. Yeast, which in the Old Testament symbolizes evil, is to be removed so the dough can become uncontaminated, unleavened bread. So in the church a little yeast (for example, sexual immorality, a haughty spirit) contaminates the whole batch of dough (the church, 1 Cor. 5:6). The church must remove the yeast so it can be a new batch without yeast, which, in a real sense, it already is (1 Cor. 5:7).
We have here a typical example of Paul's understanding of both the church and individual believers as living in the tension between the "already" and the "not yet." The church is the present expression of the reign of God, the kingdom of God in the midst of the world; but it is still on the way, not yet identical with the kingdom of God at the end of history. Christians have been set free from the bondage to sin; yet they must appropriate that freedom in specific decisions to continually resist the encroachments of evil (see Romans 6).

The NT speaks nothing about directly keeping any of the feasts. Look at other commentaries if you wish.

What you posted is true in respect to physically keeping them. To study them and learn of the Spiritual implications of truth I believe is very important. We serve and observe with the heart, not the flesh.

Concerning the leaven, it doesn't always accompany sin unless it is of the flesh.

Matthew 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took , and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

Leviticus 23:17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.

Amos 4:5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

In comparison to leaven because of fermentation, Jesus didn't drink vinegar with gall at the beginning of the crucifixion but He did at the end just before He said it is finished. We was completing His vow as a Nazarite according to the shadow of things to come. This doesn't mean He was a Nazarite because He came from Nazareth. People get that mixed up sometimes.

I have read numerous commentaries on line but I prefer reading directly from the Bible. From my studies there is more information in there than on the net concerning spiritual truth. I particularly stay away from wikipedia.
