This stuck out to me at church today.
It seems to be saying anyone who tells a Christian they can't eat a certain food because of religious/faith purposes, is in fact preaching/teaching/furthering a doctrine straight from demons.

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, 3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

Yeah, thanks for sharing. What about the part "forbid to marry?" I mean why doesn't that stick in your mind as well?

Because I don't see that nonsense soaking into the church outside from RCC rules for priests. Food rules seem to impact more.

True, so how many demons do we have on this site teaching these doctrines?

For me this leads to a question. Are the prophecies from Ellen G White, clearly demonic since her prophecies lay down some food rules?

Ellen White received her first major health reform vision, June 6, 1863, in the home of Aaron Milliard, at Otsego, Michigan. In this vision, for the first time, God's people were urged to abstain from flesh food in general and from swine's flesh in particular.Ellen White characterized this vision as "great light from the Lord," adding, "I did not seek this light; I did not study to obtain it; it was given to me by the Lord to give to others." 10
Amplifying this upon another occasion, she added, "The Lord presented a general plan before me. I was shown that God would give to His commandmentkeeping people a reform diet, and that as they received this, their disease and suffering would be greatly lessened. I was shown that this work would progress." 11
Ellen's personal response was prompt and positive: "I accepted the light on health reform as it came to me." 12 "I at once cut meat out of my bill of fare." 13 "I broke away from everything at once—from meat and butter, and from three meals." 14
"We have in diet been strict to follow the light the Lord has given us. ... We have advised you not to eat butter or meat. We have not had it on our [own] table. 20

And the scripture again...

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,2 through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,3 who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,5 for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.
Ellen G White's prophecies have instructions from God saying not to eat certain foods, and Paul's instruction on demon inspired prophets says they will tell you to abstain from certain foods.

The NT does still have one restriction when it comes to food.
It says that if it has been offered to idols refrain from eating it. The scripture in 1 Tim. is referring to the mosaic laws of unclean foods that were not to be eaten no longer apply. Remember Peter was shown all the unclean animals by the Lord and told to kill and eat. Peter told Him no for he has never eaten anything unclean. The Lord told Him not to call anything that He has made clean unclean or common for it has been sanctified by prayer.

i'd agree with a "deceitful spirits" origin on that account for sure.

Yeah good point on the food offered to idols. I was assuming folks would assume that's not tossed into Paul's statement.

Some pastor's won't remarry people who have been divorced, my pastor has that conviction although I don't agree with him.

Yes but as we know people add their own philosophies, moral values, customs, and traditions into the scriptures which Paul tries to teach the word apart from those. People still do it though because that is what they are taught, and refuse to change even when shown the truth. Look at how many people call themselves Christians, but still believe and live by eye for an eye.

I would agree with your pastor only on one condition, and that is the Lord said divorce is only allowed if do to sexual immorality.
If you divorce for any other reason then this, and marry somebody else would make you an adulterer. Because the Lord would not of approved of the divorce. And He is our High Priest, and what you do is to be acceptable to Him.

Let's expand this out further.
There are some who tell Christians there are certain types of bread of other foods they can't eat or must eat on certain designated days.

What is the source of those teachings in light of...

He won't even remarry for that reason, immorality.

Paul seems to say it goes deeper, all the way to demons as a source...

[SUP]Acts 10:11-15

11
[/SUP]And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
