Genesis 3:22-24 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Ok, now drop your bomb.

All creation was good (good to God, mind you, which would be monumentally good), which would include the abode of Adam and Eve, all the food they needed, etc, then they sinned. Losing the goodness of their idyllic environment was part of the consequences of sin, they even having to work to produce food in less fertile ground. Sin is, clearly, serious business to the Lord.

Do you believe in hell as an eternal place of torment?

He didn't want them to live in sin and still having the tree of life to eat. That would permanently separate them from Him. I would have been just a matter of time. He loved them and wanted them to be with Him. He did it because He is graceful and loving.

When Jesus talked about “their worm” that doesn’t die, He is describing the everlasting torment of being forever reminded of whatever part of His everlasting truth has been rejected by certain individuals from the beginning of time.

Mark 9:43-48 (KJV)
[SUP]43[/SUP]And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
[SUP]44[/SUP]Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
[SUP]45[/SUP]And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
[SUP]46[/SUP]Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
[SUP]47[/SUP]And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
[SUP]48[/SUP]Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Isaiah 66:24 And they shall go forth , and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for
their worm (8438) shall not die , neither shall their fire be quenched ; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Yes, and from the beginning God provided Himself as a sacrifice so others may not have to perish in hell.

Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

It was initially for satan and his angels.

So unless someone eats from the tree of life, they can't live IN AN eternal state separated from God?

Why did you highlight the part where God didn't want them to eat from the tree of life?

I'll answer the best that I can if I read you right. God doesn't want us to be separated from him forever. He wants us to live forever with Him. The tree of life in the garden would sustain the flesh which is enmity, i.e separation.

And the LORD God said , Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat , and live for ever: (Genesis 3:22)

If God expelled them from eden because he didn't want them to live separated from Him forever, why would God create a place called hell that serves that purpose?

Scripture makes it clear that hell wasn't for man.

I don't know, maybe because, when it comes right down to it, there are people who suck a lot worse than Adam and Eve did?
