Proverbs 6:19
A False Witness that Speaketh Lies

As we begin our quest to understand why the Lord hates “a false witness that speaketh lies” we will as always turn to the only source of truth found under the heavens, which is the eternal word of God. The list of 7 things that the Lord doth hate as found in Proverbs chapter 6 has already taught us that a lying tongue is second on the list so we must go above and beyond a sinful lying tongue to determine the accountability of a false witness who also uses a lying tongue and why the Lord hates any and all who will give a false account through the use of lies.
The statement “false witness” in the original Hebrew carries the idea of one who through the use of untruths and deceit will render a witness or testimony which is simply wrong and the Greek version carries the same general idea and is used to describe one who through falsehood will render untrue testimony and or deliver falsehood as evidence in way of testimony. As we consider the difference between a lying tongue and a false witness we begin to see that the difference is found in the role played by the one who is lying. A simple liar will say “I have five dollars in my pocket” when in reality they have fifty cents while a false witness will use lies and deceit as evidence against a second party so as to gain an advantage. An example of this was Satan’s lie in the garden unto Eve: Satan said to Eve, “Ye shall NOT surely die: for God doth know….” Satan while interjecting a lie through deceitful means used false testimony to tempt Eve to sin and we all know the proverbial “rest of the story.” Now that we have determined the difference let us look to the Word of God to see what the Lord has to say about all of this.
Exodus 20:16 states, “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor” and is the 9th commandment found in the list of 10 as given by the God of heaven. In Exodus 23:1 we see God add a little in way of understanding and states, “Thou shall not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.” The Lord God of heaven who has made all and who owns the breath of all living things tells us, yea commands us to not raise a false report, to not put our hand in with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness and in no way shape or form are we to use deceit and lies to “get one over on our neighbors” as a false witness that speaketh lies. To argue the right of God to command His creation is mute and foolish so I will assume that the reader understands the right of God to command His will.
As we move on let us understand that the Lord so hates a false witness that He decreed the maximum punishment for such sin as found in Deuteronomy 19:16-19 and verse 21 which states, “If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, before priests and the judges, which shall be in those days; and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother then shall you do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother….And thy eye shall not pity; but life shall go for a life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. The very nature of God which is holy, righteous and full of truth demands judgment against all forms of false witnessing and as we look further into the word let us take note and be diligent about the truth concerning a false witness.
Proverbs 19:5 states, “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.” The Lord adds to this thought in verse 9 of the same chapter which states, “A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.” In both cases the Lord determines justice and judgment against a lying false witness by stating that they shall not go unpunished nor shall they escape because they shall all perish. Remember that John the Revelator taught that “all liars” shall have their part in the lake of fire as found in Revelation 21:8.
If we look to Proverbs 21:28 which states, “A false witness shall perish…” we can see that God also adds false witnesses to the list of those who will perish and make no mistake about it my friends as God will bring every work into judgment and every idle word we have spoken will be accounted for in the day of judgment. God states a false witness shall perish period.
As we look more intently into the Word of our God let us look to Proverbs 25:18 which states, “A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.” The word maul carries the idea of “a breaker.” A sword and a sharp arrow will pierce and wound so if we put the three together we come up with a real good idea of what a false witness can do and that is to break down, wound and pierce thru. This is totally contrary to “loving your neighbor as yourself” which is commanded by the God of heaven.
Even Jesus as a man on this earth testified against a false witness by stating that those things which proceed from the mind of man are the things which defile a man and if you will notice “false witness” is one of the 7 things listed that come forth from a man which leads to his defilement as found in Matthew 15:19. As we ponder the scripture concerning false witness we even see by the Word of God that false witnesses were used to condemn the righteous Son of God as found in Matthew 26:59-60.
A false witness will testify against a man by deceit, lies and a wrong testimony. Without a doubt as long as sin is allowed to reign in these mortal bodies there will be those who will testify falsely to obtain their own desires, but in the end they will be judged and if found lost will be cast into the lake of fire. Paul taught under inspiration that the fulfilling of the law is found in loving thy neighbor as thyself and that love worketh no ill towards his neighbors so as we come to a summation on those false witness that speak lies let us sit up and take note.
The Lord hates a false witness who speaks lies. All false witness will not go unpunished as all will perish. The Lord has decreed punishment under the law for those who would testify falsely and as the children of God let us speak as it were “the oracles” of God and let us always be found a true and faithful witness as our Lord has been found and continues to be found a faithful and true witness because God hates liars and false witnesses.

I get your post. I understand what you are saying.

I would like to say something as well. I've seen something on this site and on others professing be to christian sites. Let me say here, right now, I don't frequent or visit other "christian" sites. Did before, no longer am.

Misrepresentation. In my heart, I consider it lying. False. Not a truth. If we are female and select male as our gender, if we are male and select female as gender, if we are older than we are and we key in younger and vice versus are we not "bearing a false witness?" What about the ones having duplicate nicks or user names or have one for the forums and one for the chatroom?

We say we are christian, as christian should we not be christ-like and be who we are? Who are we? Why must the individual seeking misrepresentation feel like they have to???

    Just my thoughts, dcontroversal.
