Colossians 3; 1,2- If ye then be risen with Christ,seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.Set your affections on things above,not on things on the earth. .............. This scripture suggest that you keep your mind on the word of God so that you can grow in the spirit toward perfection in Jesus Christ. The earthly things never do anything except pleases the flesh. Matthew 6;21- For where your treasure is,there will your heart be also. ........................You love the world more than the kingdom of God,Then like the word says,, the wages of sin is death............... This is what Jesus came to do , bring us out of the world.

    Hello Gabriel - When he talks in Colossians he is comparing things. It becomes an issue of loyalty. We know the world in Scripture when used as a term is most notably the term for satan's kingdom on earth, other wise known as the world's system, and this involves many things. Even things in which many Christians would not see at face value. Thus, He wants us never to desire any counterfeits to God Himself. But He states it differently than you state it in His conclusion. If God has conquered sin and we are in Christ, we should be in the world but not of it. For, remember our calling from God is to go into the world and preach the Gospel.

    Also, the earth is different than the world. God made the earth. and people can be blessed on the earth and with the earth; worldliness not withstanding.

    Psalm 67New International Version (NIV)

    Psalm 67[a]

    For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song.

    1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face shine on us—[b]
    2 so that your ways may be known on earth,
    your salvation among all nations.

    3 May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.
    4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you rule the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations of the earth.
    5 May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.

    6 The land yields its harvest;
    God, our God, blesses us.
    7 May God bless us still,
    so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
