Remember what you're fighting against (essay)

I just wanted to share a few quick thoughts and some verses while I'm taking a break.

I'm reminded that the battles we face are against things we can't see, which is why we have to follow Jesus closely and rely on Him.

‬‬“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—”
Ephesians‬ 6:12-18‬ NKJV‬‬

I've been tired a lot lately and feeling a lot of negative emotions. I'm reminded that one simple and powerful way to fight back is to worship God (singing is great) and be thankful for all the little and big blessings He provides.

Here are are some for me:
- God's patience, mercy and love
- family
- work
- little cardinals that hop around outside my house, haha. So cute.

How has God blessed you?

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”
Philippians‬ 4:4‬ NKJV‬‬

May God bless you all and give you strength, peace and joy!

Hi Rosyshine - I love the answer of rejoicing after you have believed you have conquered the foe. We can praise God and rejoice if we are willing to act on the victory God has given in things already accomplished in Christ.

I am sorry you are being involved with depression, but that is a call to act upon your victory in Christ. And not simply to rejoice, but to also therefore stand in your rightful place given you by God thru Jesus. In other words, don't simply pray for victory, act upon your victory prayerfully in taking it to the enemy preemptively in depressions notice. Of course all this being that the depression is not from your conscience telling you to give something over to God. But suffice it for me to assume, in this case it is not that.

If you have found yourself, while working, hoping that at some point of the day you will be strong enough to counter the effects of depression, my prayer for you can go no further than that of the Apostle Paul to his Ephesian readers. It is that God may open your eyes anew to see yourself seated with Him who has Himself been made to sit "far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named. (Ephesians 1:20,21).

The truth is the difficulties around you may not alter; the lion may roar as loudly as ever; but you need no longer hope to overcome. In Jesus Christ you are victor in the field. Simply tell satan to back on out of there and say it knowing you have God backing up your every word; say it, then, without doubting.

Thank you! This is a very timely message for me. I appreciate the time you took to write this. It applies to what I've been going through -- feeling confident enough to declare/stand on the promises of God's Word has been a challenge when it comes to knowing who I am. I tend to have a negative view of myself and struggle with seeing myself in Him as opposed to seeing me with my past. But again, thank you. Just choosing to rejoice a little bit today on break helped!

It's wonderful that you keep yourself moving forward and not giving up.
If we never give up, we will eventually complete our journey even with
our bumps and bruises, we arrive in paradise. Just sharing a hymn you
    might find helpful, smiles.

    Peace and Love

I'll have to get to some wifi to watch the hymn. Thank you, Dusty, for sharing and for your encouraging note. My heart aches for that kind of freedom, to finally be home and totally safe with God. Thanks for helping me along my journey with your kind words.
