Just a suggestion
Great Idea!

If we made a team of people responsible for such things, then those people would have to be made privy to a lot of private information (ie the behind the scenes stuff that make this site run) - otherwise how would they be able to assist with technical issues - if they don't know the particular technical in's and out's of THIS SITE?

Therein lies a problem. It's the same reason why we can't just make 'ANYONE' a Mod. There's a lot to be considered, and if we start allowing loads of people access to stuff it could cause lots of problems. It's not only an issue of availability, willingness, or even abilities, but it's also trust and security. We really have to consider these things. Unfortunately, just as in real life, some of the people we THINK we can trust the most, turn out to be the troublemakers - I'm sure you can all relate to an experience in life like that?

I can see how that would be a good idea, to help lighten the load of the Mods a little, but that is ONE reason why it's probably not a feasible option.

I think the best thing to remember is that as Mod's we're all here for you to help with any problem you may have. Some of us may be more available than others, some of us may be more equipped to assist with different enquiries (based on skills etc), but we will ALWAYS try and help. We just ask that you would all remember that the ratio of Mods to Chatters is extremely unbalanced. Sometimes we may take a while to respond to your issue. Not because we're ignoring you, but because we may already be trying to deal with several other issues, or we could be away from the computer or sleeping (since we all live in different timezones) or we may not know the answer, and need to wait for another Moderator to help us.
It should also be noted we are VOLUNTEERS, we have lives outside of CC -families, jobs, houses, laundry, cooking, bill-paying etc etc...so we can't ALWAYS be available every minute of every day to assist - but send us a message, and we'll respond as soon as we can!

So my request to all of you is to please be patient

The majority of you are, and we greatly appreciate this. We also appreciate these suggestions (with the intention of making our lives easier -it's nice to know you're thinking of us). I don't want this post to be taken the wrong way. We ENCOURAGE your suggestions and feedback (that's why we have a suggestions forum), but our job is only made harder and more overwhelming when people continually hassle us for an answer to their problem. Sometimes issues aren't black and white- they need time to resolve and other times, well, we're just busy!

So I do hope you all understand the intention of this post. I wanted to give a reply to the suggestion, but also give you all a little insight into the life of a Mod! We love this place, we love our job, and we love the chatters (yes that's all of you), but please try to cut us a little slack sometimes

Thanks guys,

Blessings.

Wow. I had no idea exactly how much it took to do the job of a mod. No offence taken. I just saw an idea and agreed with it. Thanks for the response though.

It is not necessary for the person to know the in's and out's of the website. You can keep your private information private. The person doesn't need to log in into a different Control Panel or anything. He will be logging into his normal account and just helping people with different features who are new to the website. It will certainly be of great help to the website and especially to the new members who are most of the time confused with how things work either on chat or on the forums .

Regards

Well, actually that's not entirely true. But I won't go into the details of posting it all here.

Sure, if a new user comes in and has questions like 'how do I use the mic?' or whatever, then of course any other user is welcome to explain - that should just be part of being friendly and welcoming.

But making a team of people responsible for 'technical issues' many of which aren't that simple, and need in depth knowledge of the site- well that's not a viable option- as I have already explained.

The rep system as it is now is not of much worth. With revamping it could turn into something very useful, however as it stands now it should be removed. one thing i do like though is being able to leave comments on peoples posts. this can be helpful if somebody makes a post that you would like to make a quick comment on, but not leave a remark on the thread.

2. Read Olivet discourse. Show temple destruction is expected in their life time.
3. Inform that destruction of temple in AD 70 is a BIG deal.
4. Point out the historical events that line up with Daniels weeks.
5. Use history from that time period and place.

And Thanks for replying 1still-waters......can you change your vote now?? (what with you being a mod and all??) hahaha!!

-----I STILL don't know as I like being referred to as "the likes of" but as long as it is not meant to be uncomplimentary, I guess I shouldn't see it as such, huh??

I didn't see it as sarcasm either...although maybe that's just because I know how to take his comments :P

Even so, why are we debating this. He has said he has seen an argument for keeping the rep system, and now is changing his opinion. What's wrong with that? People do that everyday, form opinions on things, then are shown a different point of view which may sway their original opinion.

Personally, I think that's a wonderful character trait to have - to not be so stubborn you can't be open to other points of view.

well i would like to know how people get rep points for simply posting mindless drivel in the forums.
I have all but stopped due to forums being overrun bt these people-
at this point i would say stop the system...if someone is popular they will be known in the forums without recognition.

the mindless drivel is usually in threads that are marked as such
if you want serious threads, someone has to start them
