at this point i would say stop the system...if someone is popular they will be known in the forums without recognition.

I would have to agree completely.

Hi Blueberry...Did you get a rep point or rep power??

Rep power is given by the mods, (and/or is "earned" by how many posts you have posted---???---never truly understood why that is?) Rep power is seen by our nicks with our posts.

Rep points are given to you by others because of their opinions on your posts and can be seen in your contol panel. It will show a green or grey or red square beside a listed thread name in which you posted what they are giving (or taking) rep points to (or from) you for. A green square means they are positive points (added to your total). A red square means they are negative pioints (subtracted from your total) And I THINK a grey square means the person who wanted to rep you didn't have any earned or given rep power to give to you (or take from you)

There is also a "comment" area where the person can leave an encouraging word or a "high five" so to speak, beside the given points.....and identify themselves if they dare..Hahhaha JK!!! (kinda)

Hope this helps!

Oh! And your rep power is how many points you have that you can give or take from someone......and the way you do it is at the top of each person's posts there is a ""REP"" button you push and it is pretty easy to figure out from there!

You get rep points by posting alot and by getting it from other people. As you can tell, most of mine comes from posting too much. I don't pay much attention to it anymore.

The main page of the forums there is a chat rooms button. Once you click on that, choose your options for webcam and sound...then click enter chat.

I find it plausible that bruised egos would arise from a rep system. Even that cesspool of electronic communication, Youtube, doesn't publish the ratings of comments about videos if they are not positive.

I think it should be kept. It seems to me, as a new person to, CC, that there is so much going on in some chat rooms, in particular the Lounge, that does not represent Christianity as per the rules set forth from CC.. Perhaps this is a way to keep up with inappropriate behaviour. I don't know for certain if it will work...some people seem to be able to say whatever pleases them, using any language they choose, (profanity) without any consequences. My vote is to keep it.

I agree with this information for sure... i'm sorry that you have to deal with that tho hopefully these problems will be taken care of.

Why do we need a reputation system? What service does it supply? How does it build up the body of Christ? In what ways does it encourage you when you see someone with lots of 'rep' points? If you have 'rep' points, does this make you acutely aware of how you post and how does it influence that? What worth do you see in 'rep' points apart from the obvious? How does it make those who have no 'rep' points feel about their posts? What about those who post all the time and no-one ever gives them 'rep' points? Would God use a rep system if he ran CC? Would it be important to him that we distinguish certain individuals? What difference would it make to individuals if the reputation system didn't exist? Do we really think it would matter? What eternal difference would it make?

Just some questions to ponder...

Well, it's not really about eternal difference I don't think...and it's not about one person thinking they're better than the other. It's about fellowship with one another. God wants us to fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Besides, the reputation system probably helps out Robo a little bit.
