I vote to keep it.

End it. In my opinion some folks take it way too seriously and it ends up being a headache to deal with when people take it too seriously.

That's the thing. It really doesn't mean anything substantive, but some treat it with utmost seriousness and end up feeling hurt over the ponts part of it if they don't have a certain amount.

I think the problem is that it can potentially be used for "bullying" - leaving a negative rep and comment, and no one would know who gave it
I don't see the need for negative rep... feels too much like grades besides, people like me get most of the reps from posting like a lunatic, so the rep points are kinda foggy anyway

Keep it .
Refine it . Disable the anonymity of the user who reps you . Add further pip markers to make it more creative . C'mon , there are so many things you can do with it . Don't just shut it like that ![]() I can design new pip markers if you want me to ![]()

Suggestion : Make a team of people responsible for the tech issues people face with the website .
eg. cannot log in into chat , how do i change my avatar , how do i use this/that , etc So, they directly go to that person with their problems. It may help weigh down pressure on yourself and the moderators , since you guys are already busy with tons of issues . Just a suggestion ![]()

I never really understood the reputation thing....what is it about even? I mean...it doesn't sound stupid...but it doesn't sound like it should be valuable. I'll have to think on this one

Ok ummm it says on the poll:
Refine the reputation system: allow individual users to totally disable it; also disallow negative reputation points; and then take another poll on whether or not the reputation comments should be anonymous. what do you mean by reputation comments? And why do we have the reputation thing? I mean, it doesn't sound like a bad idea. And so I voted to keep it. But I just wanna know what it's all about...

Hi everyone.......I want to apologize to Robo and the other mods if bringing this topic back to life is causing all/any of you any headaches, however I am happy to see it more addressed since it seems to be a headache to others as well. (what with some people being mean to others in an area where they can be annonymous)
I voted to keep the rep system, as it can be fun to read comments about your posts. With the first option still leaving it more open to other impending options being available after deciding to keep the rep system, I feel it can be improved but kept. I still believe in being accountable for your words, whether in open forum or in private messages. Therefore I stick with non annonymity...hahaha I feel I've already voiced most of what I feel a need to, so I will stop here....just wanted to post that I voted!! Oh but wait, one more thing......this was part of a post in the thread that got this thread started, and I just wanted to point out that this is one reason why it would be a good idea to change the rep system as it stands now with being able to be annonymous.. I like the idea of the system as it is a great way to lift eachother up and develop a sense of friendship and community, but as it is the system is primed for abuse and it has helped put me off posting here anymore as many comments are not at all diplomatic or tempered but just outright abuse....as I've stated before you'd be in trouble if you said it on the forums so I don't get why this area of the forum goes completely unchecked....if it's too much work it should be disabled as the abuse that goes on should not be allowed to stand under any circumstance. This was posted by Matthew, and I have to say no one should have to feel this way, and it is a shame to lose a voice because others cannot be nice in private. ok....now for lil_christian's question...there are a couple threads from waaaaaaay back that might help you understand the rep system.....let me try to hunt them up and if, IF, (hahha) I can find them.I will be back to let you know what they are!

I dont think there's anything wrong with taking ones reputation as a christian seriously.
I do think there is something wrong with another taking someone elses reputation too lightly. Anytime we take off rep points it should be accountable for sure. This goes for mods as well, they should consider before doing knee jerk infractions, the rep of the user may very well mean something to them, whether it means something to you or not, it exists and some do value their rep as christians within a christian environment. |
