Satan uses that as a tool to demoralize them further, and for weak and new Christians, this means they think they are unworthy of grace altogether, as if their sins are too great. This is the fine line you walk when you air out dirty laundry of fellow Christians.

I simply believe, it shows a stronger character to forgive and forget, than to air things out and clear a name that was never really hurt anyway. Did Robo really get his name destroyed by Haley? I highly doubt it. All of you speaking the way you do proves it. None of you believed the lies, so why worry about it more, and make new members view this and shake their head in disbelief? I know I did, I expect more, but I never intended it to be attacking Robo or anyone else. I simply gave a suggestion, which can be taken or not.
You have no idea the scope of damage slander from people has caused him.

It's easy to say, oh just let it be, when you're sitting at an emotionally tidy distance from it.

    Proverbs 22:1
A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,
Loving favor rather than silver and gold.

Let's not downplay the right to have a clear name, all in the name of just letting it slide.

    Luke 12

2 For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. 3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.

Because this was done publicly, it has to be cleared up publicly. I believe there is nothing wrong with putting this on a public forum, as long as the individual involved has been informed. In fact, I would recommend that this would be made a permanent policy for such problems. If the offender wants to be reinstated, they should be informed that they must prepare a public statement of apology concerning the issue. This way, those wronged can be properly exonerated, and everyone on the site can see for themselves what really happened. This in itself should clear up all the confusion, and hopefully, make everyone happy.

The problem is, anytime you point a finger at someone else, you have 5 more pointing back at you. It is a never-ending circle. Do you really want to do a circle of scripture back and forth as well? We are to forgive quickly, and to leave the judgement to our Lord. We are to love our enemies. Being held accountable is one thing, but she was held accountable by being banned. Every sin leads to accountability, and you always reap what you sow, but shall we then add more shame to the sinners who ask for forgiveness? She was punished for what she did, and rightly so. When you forgive someone, you don't throw it back in their faces. You don't use that sin to make yourself look better. I believe Robo would have looked far better if he simply forgave, and let it be. Everyone knew the slander was just that (which is obvious from all of you), so Robo having said nothing, or simply stating "Haley is forgiven, welcome her back everyone" would have been a blessing. It almost seems to me that you are justifying a type of "I was right, you were wrong, look at me" statement, whether that was the case or not, it can be perceived that way, and perception is everything.

When Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, he rebuked them with scripture. He taught them the right way. Imagine if, instead of that, we aired out our grievances against each other, based on someone telling a lie about us. Imagine if every Christian on this website did the same as Robo. Think of the discord that would occur. Leaders are held at a higher standard for a reason. It isn't an easy job, and they will be attacked by satan regularly, and satan loves to use Christians to do his work. It is something you have to learn to accept, if you are to be a leader of men.

It doesn't show love when I see some of you say it is a miracle she was even forgiven, or that we should all air out her sin, to protect Robo from a slanderous attack that nobody seemed to believe. People like me, who didn't know what happened on either account, look at this the way I do. If I ask for forgiveness for a sin, I don't expect that request, nor my sin, to be aired out in front of my peers. Every single saint in the history of the world, aside from Jesus Christ himself, has sinned. We focus on their good qualities though, not their sins. We lift our brothers and sisters up, not bring them down with their mistakes. We don't embarrass them further. It is my opinion, and I will stick with it. I have been slandered many times in my life, and when I forgave and forgot them, I received many more blessings in return.

DABEARS8519, you are right about one thing: perception is everything. People perceive many different things when they don't know the facts. I personally know that Robo has endured many such attacks on his person as well as his site. After a while, something more has to be done. I appreciate the fact that he reinstated her to begin with. Most administrators of chat sites won't even consider it. His leniency on this issue is commendable. It shows forgiveness and restoration as a Christian should. If you knew the vast responsibility of operating this entire site, you would understand the need for strictness concerning such things. There's an old Indian proverb that says, " I will not judge my brother until I walked a mile in his moccasins". It's easy to make a judgment call when we don't even know the daily price paid for this chat site to be online. Perception is everything. Perhaps you should think about that.

Acts 16:37: But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us in public without trial, men who are Romans, and have thrown us into prison; and now are they sending us away secretly? No indeed! But let them come themselves and bring us out."

And as far as 'throwing it back in her face', I am glad Robo printed the apology, because now everything is clear, and, as Jesus said, "you have gained a brother." (In this case a sister!) It is very Biblical to bring things before the church.

And, if I need to reiterate, welcome back to Haley.

AND, as far as " People like me, who didn't know what happened on either account, look at this the way I do." goes, that's not true either. I wasn't around for the original flap. So don't put words in other people's mouths. Unless you have someone you can name who agrees with you, you'll have to put your sock puppet down.

I'm not disagreeing with you on this stuff, but I will disagree with the judgement call. I gave my opinion, and as we all know, everyone has one. I view it as giving a suggestion to make himself (Robo, and other Admins even) look even better, coming out smelling like a rose, by simply forgiving, announcing the forgiveness and not the sin, and moving on. I also commend him for forgiving her. You are right that I do not know all the facts, but the simple fact that I found out about this whole ordeal in the way that I did, shows that other people who do not know the facts will also come to assumptions as well. That's why perception IS everything, as you agree with.

I'm simply showing you what perception of this can do. His good intentions can backfire if he handles it incorrectly. As Christians, forgiving doesn't just mean saying "You are forgiven." It means forgetting as well, removing that sin like it has been washed clean. You do not hold it against them further. That is my opinion on forgiveness, and if I don't receive a forgiveness like that from the Lord, I will certainly be going to hell. If His grace didn't wash all our sins away completely, meaning they never even happened, then how can we ever possibly stand at the white throne judgement and not be destroyed by our accuser satan?

By announcing the sin further, and embarrassing someone further, making people like me who never knew about this see this sin (bible study chat room does =/= an entire forum announcement), it just adds to the guilt and the embarrassment of the sinner, one who was supposed to be forgiven. It just makes me pause, and wonder what the real intentions of all of this was. To clear a name (which clearly wasn't really hurt), or to make someone feel even worse and to set an example based on previous slander from previous people?

I'm just worried that all of you will not pay attention to the true consequences of setting up a policy such as forcing a public confession and apology on people. You are all quick to judge, and very slow to soak in the consequences of things. Pray about this type of stuff before you act. Don't throw the first stone.

For the record, many people did believe the slander that Haley was part of, or were influenced by it in various ways. I've seen great damage from that particlar slander in general, which she was part of. I would hope that she would be glad to clear the air and help us undo it, since she was one of the ones doing it.

Oncefallen said it well a little while ago to me in chat: "It's amazing how something so simple can turn into a DEBATE." *sigh*

We could get into Bible verses here like Paul publicly rebuking his fellow apostle Peter for his public sin and then even writing about it to the churches later even after he repented. But seriously, it's really simple, and no need to restate all the things I've already said. This was not a case of "Joe slept with Sue", then apologized, and we published the apology for such a private sin.

Sometimes I do not know the best way to handle these things, and yes there has been a lot of damage and yes we do expect people who are part of such damaging things to be just as willing to undo the damage. I think it's unreasonable to be so critical of the policy of someone and a site who has been victim of so much of this.

And I was restraining myself from this but I'm gonna go ahead and state this publicly, because it's all public:

Dabear you've been critical of us (as in not meeting your standards for an "admin" and mods) for years. One case was years ago and the last case was just a few months ago where you basically condemned me personally as "creator of CC.com" for simply posting a praise report about my favorite boxer Manny Pacquiao who announced that he's now born again. You condemned me, you condemned him for alleged past sin (this sinner who just announced that he came to Christ), and you condemned all the others who praised God with me in that very innocent thread that I made praising God for my favorite boxer's new profession of faith.

    Quotes (what you said):

"Is this the man you glorified as a "born-again" Christian? Seriously, is this the man that the creater of CC.com, who worships Manny just like everyone else in the Phillipines, just said was such a great and wonderful person?" .. "I bet you all feel so wonderful for saying how "great" this man was, right?" (reference: Manny Pacquiao now born again Christian)

Has it ever occurred to you Dabear that maybe you're too critical of "admins", Manny Pacquiao, and others? (And you accuse us throwing stones and being "quick to judge"??)

You may be critical of me stating this as well, and doing it publicly, but you keep criticizing so publicly.

    Anyway.......

Gimme a break... give this guy a break and let him work on the site instead of having to go back and forth with you with your latest criticism.

I'd like to leave this thread at clearing the air on damage done to our site and welcoming the person who is apologizing for the public matter. If you don't think it's the ideal way, how about give us a break instead of tying us up like this with criticism. Seriously, it would be much better for me to spend my time working on the site instead of having to deal with the latest public criticism of me from Dabear.

For future reference, if someone is part of damaging public slander of our site or admins and gets banned for that, we will require a public apology from the person if they want to be reinstated. This is not just a RoboOp idea, it's something our entire admin team agrees on (me, 1still_waters, and Oncefallen), and many others. We ask you to please respect that policy, and not tie us up in criticism of that policy or nitpick about the way we do it when we do. I guess the one thing I could have done differently here is ask her to add the words "please post this" and get her official permission. (Though I think we have the right to post it regardless, and I naturally thought she naturally wouldn't mind that small way to help undo the damage she was part of causing.)

Now I know I might get caught up even more going back and forth with Dabear. This is one reason I kinda like to stay out of the forum and just work on the site. Next time I'll have our whole admin team agree on words and let us post under an admin team account for something like this, so there won't be any peeps criticizing me personally and tying me up like this.

We're going to close this thread.

We don't have time to keep going back and forth in this thread.

There is work on the site that needs to be done.
