Default Haley4Jesus' apology for slandering our site

Lately we're receiving apologies from different people who did damage to our site or tried to, or went on crusades, or spread slander, etc. There's yet another one that I still have yet to post but I'll just post one every day or so. But here's one -- for your daily public confession and apology -- this one came today from Haley4Jesus:

    ------------------------

    Hi RoboOp,

This is Haley, my chat name was haley4Jesus... I know you spoke to Liamson and he misunderstood what I was telling him. I told him that you were right in banning me and I did slander your site. I listened to others and believed what they said without any proof and I know that was wrong. I'd love to be reinstated and be able to chat on your site if that is possible. If that is not, then I understand and still want you to know how sorry I am for listening to gossip and slander and becoming part of something that was not Christlike and something I should not have participated in or even have listened to.

    Thank you,
    Haley

    ------------------------

We accept her apology and we ask that she be held accountable to it.

    Why is this public?

How is this anyone else's business, but the administrators?

    Liamson:

#1: Because the slander was very public, in front of everyone in the BibleStudy room.

I assume that anyone who publicly slanders us and possibly does damage to our site reputation or the reputation of admin(s) would want to undo that by letting it be known that what they said was slander, in case anyone actually believes it or is influenced by it. (And even if it wasn't so "public", even just spreading such things is tantamount to public, as in poisoning the minds of others. But this was blatantly public, and there may have been more than what we witnessed spread to others at other times in other ways, but even the instance that was witnessed was enough. In short, this is is not at all a private offense.)

#2: Because we believe that people who publicly slander should be held accountable to their apologies for such slander. (We've had more than one case of a person maligning or slandering us and making a big apology and then later going on doing the exact same thing that they apologized for.)

And if any person who slanders our site (especially publicly like that) has any issue with making a public apology or letting their apology be public, to help undo the possible damage and to be held accountable to it, then sorry to say we would doubt the sincerity of such an apology and be less inclined to reinstate such a person.

I hope and trust that she has no issue with her apology for the public slander being made public, especially since she wants to be reinstated to our site.

We've had many cases of this and it does great damage to our site and we ask that you not be nitpicky about how we deal with such difficult matters.

Though I guess I could have crossed out the name "Liamson" there in her apology but I didn't think that would matter (since it's nothing negative or embarassing or anything), but if that does matter to him then I apologize for that.

It wasn't that, it just seemed more personal, between her and yourself. I'm sure if she had it to do over again, something written to the site itself, for public consumption would have been in order. The previous apology I saw on the announcements had the person asking to make it public.

Okay glad you had no issue with your name on there.

I'll just say that we've had many cases of people slandering our site and admins (sometimes it does great damage), and especially when they do it publicly (or even spread to many privately which is tantamount to public), we reserve the right to publicly respond and/or publicly post such a person's repeal of the damaging public statements and slander they've made, and hold them accountable to it, especially if we allow them back on our site.

Our site and admins have been attacked by many people in this way and many minds have been poisoned by such people so we think it's good to deal with the cases in this way. We're glad to see people repent and be restored and we think it's reasonable to expect them to make restitution by undoing any damage they may have done, and the least they can do is let their apology for the public slander be made public and be held publicly accountable to it.

Doing this also helps immunize people against future cases of slander and attacks against our site from others.

    .
Robo, while I commend you for forgiving Haley (and others), and for allowing them back into the site, I do not agree with your publicity of her sin. She confessed to you privately, and you, as a leader, should have kept it private.

First off, you need to realize something. If you are being slandered, multiple times, that means you are a worthy adversary for satan. The word devil comes from the Greek word diabolos: a slanderer, an accuser. IF you are being slandered on such a regular basis, and you clearly know through prayer that you are doing God's work, than you should expect it on a regular basis. Every mature Christian should expect to be attacked, multiple times. That does NOT mean that you publicize a fellow Christian's sin, especially not weak and/or new Christians (not saying Haley or anyone else is one).

Many Christians and men of God from the bible have been slandered as well, and many of them committed sin that was announced publicly, which is also slanderous. We've seen it countless times in the bible, anywhere from Paul to David to even Jesus Christ (false witness). You are not doing the Lord's work by exposing the sins of fellow Christians. I know you believe you are, and that you are just trying to uphold the reputation of this website, but I believe you should do it by praying and forgiving, rather than announcing these sins. Actions always speak louder than words, and you forgiving Haley and others speaks volumes, but you announcing it so readily does not. Especially so, you should keep from capitalizing on a brother or sister's fall to make yourself (or this website) look better.

I am not saying you should condone, or even ignore their sins, but you should love your fellow Christians enough to keep from exposing their sin. If not, then you mine as well announce every single sin of every single Christian on this website, because none of us are blameless. Not a single one. Many of us have gossiped or slandered someone else in our lives, and satan's BEST attack on us starts with lies and slander. It would be foolish to assume otherwise. I assume satan loves nothing more than when Christians slander each other, because they are doing the devil's work for him. Even still, if a Roman Catholic goes to confession, does that church then announce all of those sins to the congregation? No, they do not, and for good reason. You should take heed of this knowledge, based on the idea that this website is in fact a church in and of itself, and you are it's leader Robo.

I'll close this with one final statement:

Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Galatians 6:1

Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.

DABEAR, if I lied about your mother, and said she was a horrible person, and then said I was sorry, wouldn't you want me to now tell everyone I lied to that I was lying? It would never be right between us until I repented, asked for forgiveness, and renounced my sin.

I am confident that if any of us confess a private sin to RoboOp, he wouldn't tell anyone. This sin was public.

This is a simple issue of Roboop clearing his name.

Someone was speaking lies about him.

    People heard those lies.

Some people may have believed those lies.

Some people right in our own Christian community, right on this site may have believed those lies.

The public confession tells those that may have believed those lies, that what they heard, were indeed lies!

This was a public sin. It wasn't just between Robo and Haley.

Because of this, robo has every right to have his name cleared publicly, seeing it was lied about publicly.

The benefit of this is two-fold.

First it allows haley to come clean, and admit she was in the wrong.
We see the work of God in her life that way.

Second Roboop gets to have his reputation cleared from any untruths folks may have believed about him due to the slander.

Now I know, that those with lots of time on their hands, can go through how this was handled, with a fine tooth comb, and look for the smallest speck of dander. They can then hold that speck of dander under a microscope and spend all day probing it from different angles, writing down an extensive play by play on the little speck of dander they found in their free time as they went over this with a fine tooth comb.

Shoot, they could probably go over my post right now and find the little specks of dander.

Here's the deal. Adminning this site is tough stuff. We sacrifice so you all have a place to chat/post threads.
What I'm trying to say is, give robo/mods/admins/whatever the benefit of the doubt on this one if you're critical with the details of how this was handled.

Robo should be allowed to have his name cleared.

It's simply just and right. I don't think that needs a 20 paragraph theological treatise to back it up.

Totally agree with Still Waters and a few other comments made; the sin was public. The complaint wasn't done in some back room with the Admin and the individual. Actions have consequences; funny how that has gone by the wayside anymore. What alternative would there have now been that would have been a reasonable approach to this problem? Just allow the individual to return without any understanding that she is to be held accountable for what she says and does? I believe Admin made a gutsy call here and it was a right one; although there was no doubt that it would be met with this type of resistance . On a personal note. With the level of offense and discord that was displayed; its a miracle that her reinstatement is even being considered!!!

No Doubt, When people find faults and criticize God and the Bible. It is not strange, that people who are in ministry will also face the same, for whatever they do.

I appreciate RoboOp to have put these things openly to public. So that people can know the truth. This will surely caution others not to commit the same mistakes/sin again.

We can give loads of advices or find faults, It is easy.
But to be practical in doing a ministry in a large scale like this, is tough. We can see that the Mods are striving hard, sacrificing their precious time and energy to maintain and keep this chat clean for us to enjoy, to have fellowship with friends to be encouraged.

"A man who does things practical, showing himself as an example can render advices for good. But the one who just has a tongue will be on words of speaking ill"

    * Though, Men of God repented of their sins, God has revealed of their sins and the very secret sins in the Bible open to all public to be read.
Why does God openly reveal all the individual person's personal sin lives though they have repented??

For us to learn from their lives not to commit sins and face the sin's consequences. For us to be warned that we do not fall doing the same mistakes.

......and i know that, the fault finder/accuser will not stop with this.

I don't know the situation, but I do know what Jesus did in the bible, when slandered with far worse things (with far worse consequences). Being held accountable is fine, but I believe Haley's sin was public enough when she did it, since you all speak of it so knowingly. Being a true Christian in and of itself is hard, and against practically everything the world teaches, so how more so would it be for a Christian leader? More so, as a leader, you have many difficult responsibilities, and face even more attacks than the rest of us. You should have expected this and accepted it. Nothing about being Christian speaks of things being rosey and easy.

As far as what Jesus did in The Bible goes, Jesus publicly called the Pharisees hypocrites. And then had the Apostles write it in the gospels. He basically told the entire planet that they were hypocrites. They publicly slandered Him, and He made that sin known.

The Pharisees also didn't ask for forgiveness, and Haley didn't ask for forgiveness in public. I'm a firm believer that you don't dangle dirty laundry out to dry, especially not for fellow Christians. It only makes them grieve even worse, which they already feel guilty for sinning. Satan uses that as a tool to demoralize them further, and for weak and new Christians, this means they think they are unworthy of grace altogether, as if their sins are too great. This is the fine line you walk when you air out dirty laundry of fellow Christians.

I simply believe, it shows a stronger character to forgive and forget, than to air things out and clear a name that was never really hurt anyway. Did Robo really get his name destroyed by Haley? I highly doubt it. All of you speaking the way you do proves it. None of you believed the lies, so why worry about it more, and make new members view this and shake their head in disbelief? I know I did, I expect more, but I never intended it to be attacking Robo or anyone else. I simply gave a suggestion, which can be taken or not.
