We just had a family member pass away late last week. The big question my children asked is was he saved? I said I honestly do not know for sure, but don't believe so. (Haven't seen him in a few years). I have prayed much for him.

Other family members say he believed in God, he was a good person, etc. It's my mom's brother and even though she is a Christian, she said he certainly believed in God! But I've never heard about him believing in Jesus though he has heard it since childhood.

What do you say, nothing? You don't want to add to the person's grief, but you don't want to agree. Do you let it go, let them just find out when they go to Heaven one day themselves? How do other people handle this with their family members?

I would probably answer that no one knows especially when a person is close to death and especially if they were visited by a priest or pastor. A prayer can be spoken in silence or when alone. Only God knows for sure and He knows the heart.
