Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a book for someone who hates God but is hurting. A good light read but solid enough to debunk the misconceptions of Christianity, Jesus, and God. Has anyone come across such a book? I need it pretty soon. Should be biblically grounded and accurate as well. I don't want to be giving a book teaching false theology. >.<

What about Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul? I have it but I don't know if it's appropriate...?

I wish iIknew a book to tell you. Keep thanking God that this person is saved. By your prayers and knowing God answers your prayers they WILL be saved. Know that.

Perhaps "The Shack", although some really hate that one. I think that Mere Christianity is great but the title may throw her off. Chicken soup seems a little too generic, doesn't really makd a case for Christianity.

Hmmmm such heavy duty titles o_O She hates God but looks really sad and always trying to fill her life with "stuff" to fill up that "emptiness."

What about books that talk specifically on God's love and grace?

Ooh! Another good one is Deus Caritas Est (God is Love) by Pope Benedict XVI. I love that book and it's very good at explaining the basis of Christian belief on God's love.

Any book by Og Mandino is a good read - such as "greatest salesman in the world" etc - either that or Max Lucado was the books I read when I was a baby Christian - I found him VERY light, easy to read, and yet quite biblical for the most part. You might want to consider some Christian fiction too perhaps - something that's not a sermon but still has Christian themes throughout - just a thought :D

Hope that might help!

If you're looking for Christian fiction, try "Jerusalem's Undead Trilogy" by Eric Wilson, the first book is named "Field of Blood", where the heroine isn't buying religion due to her painful past, but she begins to witness certain things that make her change her mind...

:)

It's an okay read...it's been keeping me entertained. Nothing beats James Patterson, though! Right, Estrella, AKA Christiancollegegirl???

Crazy Love by Francis Chan is a great book on God's Love for us. I'm not sure what kind of "stuff" she is trying to fill her life with but Captivating is also a good book about the heart of a woman. Even if this person never reads the book you get for her just continuing to pray for her and showing her the love of Christ (even if it is anonymous right now)

Just a suggestion, but maybe one of those books that have collections of Psalms, and inspirational Christian sayings? If you get a non-believer something that they actually have to sit down and read, chances are it'll collect dust in the closet. Start her slow with something that she can pop open every once in a while, and maybe just read 1 page at a time.

Yes, that's a good idea, especially since she doesn't like me lol I have to send this gift anonymously just so she won't throw it out as soon as she receives it!

Exactly! And that's what would probably happen if you start her with some heavy-reading, self-help book. It get deep-sixed. Remember, she doesn't like God either.

Well, it's more of an exercise for me to let things go. Writing that anonymous letter in an encouraging and very very very nice way was really hard LOL
