I find that around the holidays our adversary tries to get the focus off of God by getting people to focus on themselves. People are temped to dwell on the wrong things. One way he does this is by getting us focused on what we don't have. I just wanted to encourage us to remember that the concept of lack doesn't exist in Christ. The bible says that everything we need is in Christ. God is more than enough. Thanksgiving is around the corner, lets be thankful and give God the praise. I'm choosing this season not to be distracted by what's happening around me or to me--I'm making it about Jesus. I wanted to share a short list of what I'm thankful for :)

I'm thankful for:
My husband and children.
Even though life has been a challenge lately--God's grace has been sufficient.
For His Forgiveness
God speaks to me through His word.
When I feel alone at times, God is always there encouraging me.

What are you thankful for?

I'm thankful for a loved filled heart
I'm thankful to be able to give, even a prayer if that's all
I'm thankful for family, friends, and dog, a roof, food, water
and most of all I'm thankful for Jesus Christ..

Our thanksgiving weekend has long since come and gone, in early October in Canada.

But there is always something to give thanks about.

I'm thankful for God saving me, and keeping me, and never leaving or forsaking me.
I'm thankful for the Word of God.
I'm thankful for my husband, children and grandchildren.
I'm thankful for the amazing transformation that God has done in my heart and life.
I'm thankful for my each day, a chance to love and serve Jesus and my neighbor.

Re: God's word about ''Thanksgiving'

'' For all things are for your sakes,
that the abundant grace might through
the
thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. '' II Cor 4:15

'' Continue in prayer,
and
watch in the same with
thanksgiving''

Col 4:2

We don't do thanksgiving in the UK, we copy many American ideas that I don't always agree we should, thanksgiving should always be celebrated by Christians wherever they are in the world. I give thanks for:

1. My salvation through Jesus Christ.
2. God's unwavering love and forgiveness.
3. My parents still being around.
2. My children.
3. A roof over my head and food on the table.
4. A job and a car to get me there.
5. Christian radio and Christian forums.
6. My church and my brothers and sisters.
7. Those who God brought into my life to teach me and mentor me.

One thing I think we all seem to have missed to give thanks for - living in free countries where we are able to gather as Christians and worship...something others less fortunate don't have.

For me, God's grace is the sufficient reason to give thanks. We could have been going to hell. Does this here really matter? The life slips so fast.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone... imo this holiday should spread on to all the Christian world... I'm not American but I think it is awesome... It is tied to the harvest and reminds us of reaping the life Jesus has sown and sharing it with others, but also celebrating blessings in our life from our following of Jesus...
Some verses that come to my mind today:

Leviticus 19:9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest.
Psalms 128:2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Psalms 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee:

I am thankful for my salvation through Jesus Christ
to the Lord for how much He loves this sin-filled and imperfect woman
my husband
my family
my church family
the roof over my head
the clothes on my back
the food in my pantry
the beauty that surrounds me each and every day
and the opportunities that I have recently been given to share the good news about Christ with those who are lost

I could keep listing things but, I think I will stop now so people don't get tired of me:)
