Lets not got lost in translation. ;)

God thanks and God bless for Roger, like all of us, he is a believer and is saved and made righteous through his faith too. He deserves our love and compassion just as much as anyone else, in arrogance or doubt, as Christ like Christians.

There are some scriptures in the bible that can have a different meaning for a lot of people but at the end of the day it is God that has the last say.

Everyone is on a different walk with God. And in life there are many mysteries to us which we are not 100% privy to but we believe that He will make it all known to us one day, even as we are known now.

So until we get there, we should always strive to put God first in all things and even though we may disagree we must learn to sometimes agree to disagree, leave it with God and trust in Him and move on.

Lord I pray, please reveal to us the truth and real meaning of your word. Make it known to us that we may learn to live right and perfect lives pleasing in your eyes and free from living incorrectly in case of incorrect beliefs or interpretations. Please reveal to Roger the beauty and simplicity of speaking in tongues in your name, out of our love for you. But only if it be your will our Father.

Can I get an amen!?

Hi Rudimental

I certianly agree with you in principal...however...

There are some scriptures in the bible that can have a different meaning for a lot of people but at the end of the day it is God that has the last say.
There are certain doctrines, such as salvation, that are the core of our faith.

Frankly, I have thought about these things regarding being filled with the Holy Spirit and what that entails, for years because I grew up in a church where it was hardly touched upon and yet quite a few in the congregation still did receive the gift of speaking in tongues....myself being one.

I have to say at this point that I am now wondering about those who refuse even the possibility and heartily deny, mock and abrogate speaking in tongues. This opposition does not come from God and the Holy Spirit is the ONE who empowers us from within.

To deny this, is to be in opposition to the very Spirit of God Himself.

What is the end of such teaching and thinking?

I am not accusing anyone of anything, but the vitriol that is often released against speaking in tongues has me wondering why people can get so angry

I believe it is because the devil despises this gift, knows how it operates and he knows the battle is a spiritual one.

I fear the west has really lost the battle in many cases and I offer for evidence the powerless, empty shells of churches and the 'believers' who occupy the cold seats on a Sunday morning and find an hour's service too long.

No it means that supernatural tongues will end. As will extra biblical prophecy and knowledge. Meaning no new revelation from God.

What?????????? "no new revelation from GOD"????????

If we read our Bibles God reveals His wisdom to us. How then are we to learn and what is the mission of the Holy Spirit if not to help us understand????? Reading the opinions of others that got revelation before all the apostles died? Don't you think GOD communicates with us thru the Bible?

God does reveal Himself through the bible but God is not giving new revelation that should be added to the bible. All that is to be known of God has already been revealed. The gift of prophecy was a gift in which the apostles were moved by the Holy Spirit to put to paper the words we have today in our bibles. Papyrus not paper I know.

Yes, everything is there. It's just that many of us misread it, and build on our foundation of that shaky sand.

It does seem strange that some preachers are so against speaking in tongues. One preacher arranged a whole conference against the modern practice of certain spiritual gifts a little over a year ago. I read some of his opinions about I Corinthians 14. He proposed that 'speaks not to men, but unto God' could be rendered to say 'unto a god'. He accused the Corinthians of speaking in pagan tongues, trying to tie 'he speaks mysteries with his spirit' to have something to do with the mystery religions and the pagan utterances of the oracle of Delphi.

The really strange thing is how this is impossible in the context. It would have Paul saying he wants the Corinthians to speak in pagan tongues and have them interpreted the edify the congregation. Paul never uses 'mysteries' to refer to bad stuff elsewhere in scripture. He writes about the mysteries related to the Gospel, not pagan mysteries. The phrase he would have rendered 'unto a god' is used elsewhere in the same passage clearly to refer to prayer to God.

It's pretty bad when someone is so much against speaking in tongues that he is against the very speaking in tongues of New Testament scriptures in the Bible itself.

Clearly explained in Romans 1 where when they knew God they glorified Him not as God but changed Him into an image like to corruptible man. Verses 21-25

They did not misread but rather rejected and changed by matter of will.

Almost as bad as willfully slandering another to avoid the truth.

Every born again believer is a new expression of Gods word. So we add to Gods word as we grow, and it gets inbuilt within us. The bible is a touch-stone, which confirms we are on the right track, but it does not define everything, it is the seed upon which everything bears fruit. Look at the church today, and you will see it is only part of revelation of God, because so much needs to be tailored and adjusted to get an appropriate expression in a particular society etc. The gospel itself is about relationships, your relationship to God. Is that defined in a book, your highs and lows, the lessons learnt, the victories achieved?

The gifts of the spirit are a way of God expressing His love and support for His church. What is not understood in terms of authority, enough has been revealed in scripture, it is the living we need to concentrate on.

NAR heresy. Parts of the "church" are getting consumed with spiritual experiences which have nothing to do with righteousness, love, care, meeting needs, living, but self indulgence, getting a heroine like high, behaving drunk but for no purpose other than saying this is Gods anointing. They claim apostles will add to the cannon of scripture, but are completely unclear what they mean other than they believe they will rule the earth. Unfortunately these "leaders" are power hungry exploitative individuals living off the generosity of their followers who they claim by giving to their cause will bring equal or more wealth back to them, like a lottery ticket. The reality this is just buying blessing which is what Peter condemned

Acts 8:18-23
When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them moneyand said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”

How has the church been reduced to buying blessing?

Reminds me of the man in the synagogue who cried out when Jesus taught in the synagogue

31Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath he taught the people. 32They were amazed at his teaching, because his words had authority.33In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an impure spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice, 34“Go away! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”35“Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.36All the people were amazed and said to each other, “What words these are! With authority and power he gives orders to impure spirits and they come out!” 37And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.

Some, because they have rejected the Holy Spirit and the teaching of scripture, become the enemy of the very One they say they believe in.

We shouldn't be surprised though....the worst enemies Jesus faced were the religious leaders.

Religious demons abound in churches but most people do not want to believe that.

The rendering possessed is not correct. The man had a demon attached to him...he was not possessed.

I don't think we were meant to speak in tongues to show off. If there is a need to speak in tongues, then the Lord will cause that to happen.
