I don't feel like I belong in the secular world because of my faith but I don't feel like I belong in the Christian world because of my mental illnesses.

Does anyone else feel this way?
As for not belonging in this world:

James 4:4
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

John 15:19
If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 12:25
Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

Being a Christian you DON'T belong in this world. If you start feeling comfortable here, that would be the time to start worrying.

As for the mental illness, God doesn't judge. Illness in all forms is an offshoot of our fall. Just being a 'fish out of water' (as in being forced to endure a worldly environment that you're not created for) can lead to depression, stress, and anxiety (among other things). God forgives and forgets and heals us. Don't feel less in the Body because of them. Rejoice that God has called you out and will, whether here or in the future, cure you of all these issues!

Mental illness is totally curable....... how can you lose?
backtrack, think......

everyone who came to Jesus, both believers and unbelievers, everyone, was cured whether they suffered from death, or something a little less serious.... :)

Jesus was RAISED from the DEAD, NEVER TO DIE AGAIN, to give us all HOPE IN HIM...

next,
almost everyone who came to the apostles , believers anyway, were cured whether they

suffered from death, or something a little less serious... :)

next,
in various revivals for the last 700 years almost everyone, if not everyone, was cured whether they suffered from death or something a little less serious.... (((IN FRANCE the regular church officials got SO MAD, they passed LAWS MAKING IT ILLEGAL TO LAY HANDS ON A PERSON TO PRAY FOR THEM,,,,,,, AND ........... (((they still got healed!!!!!!!))) )))

and,
between 1902 and 1946 disease increased in the untied states thousands of percent, so much
that the ungodly recruitment requirements for the military had to drop a lot of minor medical conditions in order to have
enough lambs to lead to slaughter in wwII...
the regular LICENSED DOCTORS publishes official studies and papers declaring the cause of the tremendous increase in DISEASE IS 3 white poisons foisted upon the guinea pigs(american public)... (today, search online 3, or 4, or 5, white poisons for more info) ...

then ,

in 1950(reportedly... i.e. give or take a few years),

the drug makers made it illegal to cure disease in the united states.

(for doctors)....

it is still legal to cure yourself.... (the same way LICENSED DOCTORS DID before 1950).

oh, remember that perhaps 99 out of 100 places DENY the POWER of GOD. period.

so sometimes it takes much much longer to find either one: either people of faith living in faith like the people in ACTS and EPHESIANS and REVELATION etc (in the BIBLE) lived,

or people trained in natural non-manmade-drugs , in other ways used for hundreds or thousands of years to heal, successfully....

remember again, those who profit from disease don't want it to be changed....
except with their 'pretend' new advances...... that make things worse every year so far...

JFSurvivor I'm praying for you. God understands you, even when others don't. He is going to use you in the lives of people who are experiencing what you are feeling. :) King David suffered from depression and God said that he was a man after God's own heart. The bible doesn't tell us, but in my opinion I think that the thorn in Paul's flesh was some sort of mental illness. Paul had an awesome testimony! He went from Saul to Paul and then wrote most of the new testament. God can do some amazing things in the lives of people!

I think that religious people can make anyone feel like an outcast. This is why Jesus had to put the Pharisees in their place and why he chose to eat with the sinners and the broken. God is merciful and you are not alone.

...I don't feel like I belong in the Christian world because of my mental illnesses...
I have no idea why this didn't land on me before, I somehow skipped the fact you felt like you didn't belong in the Christian world because of mental illness. I would say I totally understand that feeling. I remember when I was younger my Pastor and his wife tended to have the stance that if we had mental issues then it may mean we just have an emotional issue to sort out.

Then I had like a 4 month daily, hourly struggle with mental illness. They saw personally, since I called them constantly in fear of losing my salvation because my thoughts were crazy and I hadn't gotten my pills I am taking now, so they saw first hand that mental illness is real. Next thing I know my pastor's wife is talking about depression and saying that for some of us it is emotional, but for some it is also a chemical imbalance that has need of medication. I was floored.

We do belong, and it is a real deal issue that God can help us with every day. :)

I know people who have mental illnesses and have a wonderful relationship with God. And those that had a good relationship and drifted away, just like a normal person. Speaking as a person that has mental illness and has to have medication in order to function properly, I think God uses doctors and mental illness is not always curable. Not saying that God couldn't cure it right away if He chose to, but I think that He has some people have that certain thorn in the flesh for a reason.
Whenever I read this:

Mar 5:4 He had often been put in chains and leg irons, but he broke the chains and smashed the leg irons. No one could control him. Mar 5:5 Night and day he was in the graveyard or on the hills, yelling and cutting himself with stones.
Mar 5:6 When the man saw Jesus in the distance, he ran up to him and knelt down.

I´m reminded of a man who, apart from having a problem with an EVIL spirit, he probably was considered mentally ill... And Jesus healed him.

This was another man HEALED with that "mental" problem:

Luk 8:35 The people went out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they also found the man. The demons had gone out of him, and he was sitting there at the feet of Jesus. He had clothes on and was in his right mind. But the people were terrified.

Any ailment is curable...even death, if GOD touches it. How long we avoid our contact with our Creator is our choice. My brother, a very outspoken awesome CHRISTIAN man is also an epileptic. He is on medication and has even won the State Trooper of the Year award for our state! Of course GOD uses doctors and correct diagnosed medications. Amen...but...some people enjoy the notoriety and instant answer to all of their problems by using their ailments as their excuse. My brother is a member of an Epilepsy group who reaches out to others, sharing, caring and testifying. My concern for JFSurvivor is that..if you add up all the posts she has put out there...GOD is given NO glory out of it, JESUS is never mentioned as her Savior, and the Holy SPIRIT has never been mentioned at all. What is posted is constant strife, double sided stories, lots of complaints, tons of issues, No mention of her having a solid foundation in CHRIST, because she just 'doesn't fit in". I pray that she gives GOD a huge chance....reaching totally out to HIM...daily devotions, prayers, surrounding herself with positive upbeat holy spirit filled people in a constant atmosphere where she keeps her nose in GOD's Word. It would be totally awesome for her to do a little more praise and less 'POOR POOR PITIFUL ME" scenarios. OUCH!!!!!! What does she have to lose?

I personally believe that issues with a person should be put in pm as opposed to blasted out in forum. But if you have already pm'd said person then I could maybe understand.

I am sorry for the isolation you are feeling JF, you are not alone. we only see the lives of others from the outside so what looks like the perfect spouse, friendship, family isn't always so. the problem with people is.... they are people, they make dumb mistakes, say the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Everyone has issues but deals with them in different ways. l look for the best in others and when I don't get it....

I pray for them because God can change their heart and behavior not anything I say.

I extend mercy because that's what He did for me

Don't ask why anymore because that is a victims question and i'm not a victim anymore and either are you.

We are daughters of the King, we are overcomes thru Christ, rise up girl if all the lonely are together we are a group
so not alone

Have you ever heard the saying......when your pointing a finger at someone......three are pointing back to you.........
Its easier to face our faults when we have company ......its like saying " I know I did wrong......but did you see what sos and so did?".....
When we claim things....like...our faults....or whatever we have in our lives that we think is an anchor......speaking positive about it
shows God that we know He can fix anything......it shows our faith.....you may have this trial now ...but its not who you are.....God is lining
you up.....you will be able to help His people with that anchor....once He lifts it away......and there you will stand....stronger ....wiser....able...
and then blessing will come and your eyes will open...because you gain wisdom from those anchors......you will find you purpose.....
and I know this to be true......because after all these years.....all of my trials.....I wouldn't change a one.....peace baby sister......jo
