I don't feel like I belong in the secular world because of my faith but I don't feel like I belong in the Christian world because of my mental illnesses.

Does anyone else feel this way?

then why do we treat each other like we do?
I know you like it short and quick, but I really would like to recommend that you spend about a month, or so, studying René Girard's Mimetic Theory.

I mean why do we as in everyone give those cliche christian answers and call it "love" when that person is in the pit of despair or beat someone over the head with the Bible who is just taking baby steps in their walk with Christ because they aren't "doing it right"? Why do we look down on some sins but not others? Why do we have to meet certain social standards to be accepted? It's exhausting! Why can't we just be vulnerable and get down and dirty to love one another? Feel with one another? Like actually and literally cry for one another? Why do some people get blamed for being a bad Christian when all they're doing is trying their best with the circumstance they have?

That's what I mean...this isn't specifically directed at CC but it is directed at Christians as a whole.

Same here. But sometimes I feel a little more like I "belong," and that almost makes me worried sometimes.

good. don't "settle" for worldly comforts that is very common in churches.(they love to get as many individuals/families/groups as possible to feel as if they 'belong', as long as the individuals/ families/ groups are 'acceptable' (for worldly concerns/ most for money) ....

good to recognize this as it is most common everywhere.

the GOOD NEWS is that JESUS the GOOD SHEPHERD always treats you in the way that is perfectly best for you for now in this life and also for eternal life.

most people here and that you've met in person don't ever experience eternal life, and they can't treat you like Jesus does because they don't know Him nor want to know Him nor abide in Him to live like HE SAYS TO. (i.e. most all the world is and remains lost ).......

when you finally meet the true ekklesia, you will know it.

those persons who are living walking the true faith in Jesus, not presumptuous at all, nor self-conscious,

but all like

little children worshiping yahweh (GOD) , serving yahweh, dwelling with and in yahshua
and
treating one another the way they do in the TORAH , living with peace, joy and righteousness, as well as eternal life and freedom from sin and from the consequences of (their own) sin,
and
(with the welfare of others before their own) ....

you will have to just ask God to show you, and He will.

This is just the lead-in, but when I finish getting it readable, I'll send you a copy.

After taking about 70 trips overseas to Latin America, Europe, Russia, Asia, Africa, the Orient, and the island nations of the world, I can say with all certainty that something has gone terribly wrong on planet Earth! Deception, despair, destitution, disease, and death continually decimate the human race day after day. This is not theory I’m talking about, or a subject to be debated in our institutions of higher learning. Why is all this heart-wrenching destruction happening? What or who is behind it all? Is there a way to deal with it?

We’ve heard all the hollow, pat answers that don’t ring true and leave us still wondering:

“You never know what God’s going to do.
”Who can understand the ways of God?”
“There’s always a reason behind everything God does.”
“We’ll understand it better in the sweet by and by.”
“The Lord’s ways are mysterious and past finding out.”
“God is testing you, and if it doesn’t kill you, you’ll come through it stronger.”
“God is punishing you. You need to learn a lesson from this.”
“This is God’s way of teaching you to deepen your spirituality.”

Instead of learning through tragedy, many people come away bitter and distraught. Disillusioned, they ask, “Is this the kind of God I’m supposed to love and trust?” We’ve all seen things happen in life that ended in wretched, miserable outcomes, adversely affecting all who were connected to the situation. We’ve been taught generation after generation that “God’s got it all under control, and this somehow works toward a higher good.” Are you ready to put this teaching under the microscope?

Mental illness is totally curable...according the GOD..the BIBLE, JESUS CHRIST, the Holy SPIRIT...and that is more than enough...IS this stigma going to keep you from having a personal relationship with your Creator? You have the ultimate HEALER, Creator, Comforter and much more available to you anytime of the day...Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity....It takes faith, and a continual walk . You are a Spiritual being, temporary housed in a human tent made of flesh...meaning that your brain is temporary, that you can be 'transformed by the renewing of your mind" and that your brain will fade and rot, along with your earthly body, but your spirit/soul will NOT..... GOD honors and accepts people who turn to HIS son JESUS CHRIST in total FAITH...giving them a new life and more abundantly....with the Holy SpiRIT on your side, how can you lose?

I know people who have mental illnesses and have a wonderful relationship with God. And those that had a good relationship and drifted away, just like a normal person. Speaking as a person that has mental illness and has to have medication in order to function properly, I think God uses doctors and mental illness is not always curable. Not saying that God couldn't cure it right away if He chose to, but I think that He has some people have that certain thorn in the flesh for a reason.

I think the secular world is boring, so mundane, i hate this concrete jungle, so much corruption, so much trouble in the world. You are not alone.

I know what it feels like to feel like you don't belong. I often dream of better worlds, of a fairy tale fantasy place, of paradise, of heaven. I am a Christian and I am mentally ill. I feel that Jesus is the only one who understands me.

One in ten people in the US suffer from depression and that includes the church! People with mental illnesses are everywhere! But so is the stigma.

You need to work towards bringing mentally ill Christians together for support and encouragement. Instead of making this about you, make it about God opening a door of opportunity.

A friend of my son's has schizophrenia. He speaks at conferences all over the place, to reduce the stigma. That should be your new goal, instead of complaining about how you don't fit in. Find those who are suffering like yourself, and help them and in doing that you will help yourself.

The last church I was in, God told me to start a mood disorder support group. The church would only go with Depression, but it was a start. The support group got started, although I was not there to see it because I moved.

Praying you can turn your mental illness into a positive for God.
