I went and saw this yesterday with a friend of mine yesterday. Normally, i don't get into the whole "MOVIES ARE EVIL BLAH BLAH BLAH" hype, but this one really did give me the willies. There is heavy use of voodoo and hoodoo including a character named as the "Shadow Man" who sings a song about having "friends on the other side". To be quite honest, I woud never take a child to see this. Me and my friend, who is a 22 year old woman in the military, were both like, wow...that was actually a little bit scary. She was going to buy the movie for her 2 or 3 year old nephew but decided against it because it was so scary and sinister in parts.

Anyway, if you have children, you may want to watch this movie yourself to make sure the content isn't too strong for your child. I never thought a disney cartoon would make me want to get up and leave in the middle of it, but this one left a really bad taste in my mouth and a heaviness in my heart that I can't explain.

God bless!!

I've never seen it, though my six-year-old sister wants to. How bad really, is it? What goes on?

Most of the movies out now-a-days for kids are full of occult symbolism as well, such as the All Seeing Eye and the like. Clearly children are being indoctrinated.

Lol wow, its just a movie, theres some voodooism in there cause its set in New Orleans, and thats a strong part of the cities culture. And sure parts were supposed to scary, and of course the Shadow Man is sinister, he is the villain after all.

I know it's just a movie Cheshire, I'm just trying to warn people who have children that it may not be something they want their child to see. Children are extremely impressionable and seeing a cartoon that uses voodoo, summons spirits from hell, and uses blood to activate magic talismens may not be something parents want for their younger kids. If a 23 and 22 year old watches it and gets a little unsettled by it, I can't imagine what a child's mind would see.

Its interesting to me, my son 9 will not watch certain scoobie doo shows because they include the Hex girls and "mom, its just evil". I've always been one to allow them their imagination but I filter out certain movies/cartoons. I thought the cartoons on the retro disney channel would be ok with min supervision. I'm thanful he saw throught the "hex girls songs" He said they were witches and they werent singing songs that God would be pleased with. We teach them the way they are to go and soon, they are discerning on their own too.

That is awesome Imoss!!!! There are some things I watch that have magic and such that I don't make me uneasy, but generally it's a very fantasy setting magic. When real "magic" like voodoo and hoodoo is used, then it makes me a little nervous. It's good your son has such a discerning eye so young. I'm sure you are very proud of him!

Ya I just came back from youtube, I watch the preview of this movie. And just that in itself left a bad taste in my mouth.

What do you expect from disney who has its basis on magic. Do you even know what magic is? In Acts 8:9 It talks about the man named Simon the sorcerer that bewitched the people of Samaria. You know how the word sorcerer apears in greek in this passage?.....mageuo which means magic arts.

In these disney movies they have good and evil magic supposably. But my friend there is no such thing as good witchcraft; it is all of the god of this world...Satan. And I certainly wouldn't take an inocent 3 year old to this. Three year olds are at the age when they pick up a lot of information. And they should be learning about Bible stories not witchcraft.

I remember way back when roaringkitten posted a disney is evil thread or something like that. How I fought him in this and told him its just make believe. I've come to understand in the last year that he was so very right and so very right to challenge us in our complacant acceptance of these worldly things that subtly polute the minds of our youth.

Hey I used to be just like everyone else; making fun of people who thought some things were pagan. Then I started doing some reseach on some of these things and it just flat out blew my mind how obvious some of these things are that they are devices of Satan.

lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2:11

The Lord says that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will reject thee.......Hosea 4:6b

Well, technically "real" magic settings isn't too new to Disney. Aladdin had Jafar with a kinda mysticism using hypnoticism and Genies with Jinns (which would be demons in Arabia). Little Mermaid had some risky scenes with the sea witch and making people fall in love with you.

I have not seen th movie yet so i couldn't say if a kid should see it or not, but lots of Disney stuff wasn't exactly for little kids (that's changed over the years though)

Kakashi,

I definately remember watching Disney movies as a child and through innocent eyes and they seemed fun, and interesting, and exciting. There was love at first sight, adventure, magic and excitement. Re-watching them through adult eyes I see what pretty much constitutes as a horrible basis for marriage (oh, he's a rich prince, oh she's a beautiful princess...let's get married!). I was pretty old before I realized that people have relationships BEFORE they get married, not just marry the cutest guy they see. Adventure and excitement quickly turned into kidnapping, blackmail, murder, political games, and torture. And magic became very real, and very evil.

My question know is which set of eyes do we look through? Jesus told us we were to become like the little children. WHen we watch Disney movies should we be content knowing they are fairy tales, designed to have a good guy win and a bad guy lose and to spark the imagination of children who live in a world so much free-er than our own? Or should we pick them apart, finding every single shadow of evil in them?

Generally, I let the spirit guide me. Would I watch the Frog Princess again? Yes, I would. The idea of good conquering evil, that in the end, the Shadowman who dabbled in horrible evil things loss and the hard working princess and free-loving prince prevailed. I was mortified by the voodoo, but that's because voodoo is wrong, not that the movie is wrong. But, I definately wouldn't want a child to watch it because it WAS a little bit more sinister than I think a child needs to see and probably brings up more questions than they need to be worrying about at their age.

God hears prayers & he can protect the little ones, guide them into his way for those who already believe or want to believe & for those who dont know about God, may God send people who know the word of God & bibles to those children to tell them about God so they can have a chance of knowing God =D

Have you seen Legion? I posted against it a few months ago. Another one I'd recommend to avoid.

It's not a Disney movie. Watch it and it will send shudders down your spine to see what the rest of this world is eating up in relish - both Christians and non-Christians. Here's a preview:

By the way, the "demons" are Christians possessed by God's angels, the guy who cut off his wings is archangel Michael, and the baby they are trying to protect is the anti-Christ. Enjoy.
