How many of you have made a promise to God and then gone back on that promise?

How many times have you been in a jam and said "God please help me and I promise to never do that again!"?

That's not a promise! That's you setting yourself up for a fall! That's you just compromising yourself. Compromising and doubting Gods love and faithfulness for your life.

God doesn't need your promises to work in your life! All He needs is faith not promises you don't know you can keep.

Even if you mean it in your heart of hearts at the time. And you spend every waking day 1 day at a time trying to keep that promise. Well good on you!

But you have to realize that even if you break that promise it wont make God love you any less. It wont make you loose your salvation. It wont stop God from going ahead with His Holy and perfect plan to make you like Christ and bring you to the finish line.

There is no device, not now or in the future, no invention, nothing that can separate us from the love and life that is in Jesus. Even a lifetime full of broken promises cannot keep you out of Heaven!

The very fact that you believe enough to make a promise to God shows your faith in Him. And without that faith it is impossible to please God which is built into everyone one of us by default along with the option to choose not to believe also that is how much God loves His people and what makes us so unique from any of His other creations.

Have you made a promise to God after feeling guilty about something and then gone on to break that promise by doing the very thing you promised not to do in the first place? Did you feel bad and guilty about that? Did you repent and and say your sorries to God for doing so?

If you answered yes to any of these questions you are probably a person who has since stopped making promises to God because you have come to realize that you never know what tomorrow brings and it is far better to just accept Gods promise which He ALWAYS keeps rather than make your own to Him. Whether you keep them until that one fine day when we are called up with Him or not.

It doesn't matter one iota if you do or don't though when it comes to your very salvation. The guilt you feel only exists because of that inbuilt part of you that was made to love and serve God knowing His ways are perfect.

Making promises/vows/oaths should NEVER be undertaken without careful consideration and prayer. In fact, there are some who would even go as far as to say that it is a sin itself to even make a vow. Jesus said in Mt 5:34-37 "but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: (35) nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. (36) Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. (37) But let your communication be, Yea (Yes), yea; Nay (No), nay: whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil." Also James 5:12 says But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.

Never make any promises, vows or oaths to God!

Just either say yes or no now or at the time. Not ahead of time.

It's all about enjoying the moment with God as far as we need to be concerned and trusting in Him for each moment at a time and not what might or might not come tomorrow.

God is good!

Cheers!
