M games a sin?

Is playing rated M games a sin? (please post why)

I have a question, I think I might of posted something like this before but I didn't get a lot of replys so I will try again.

A lot of people say playing rated M games such as assassin's creed (heres a video http://assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/#/trailer/ I couldn't find assassin's creed 1 which is the one I play but it's about the same.) anways because of blood and violence people say its a sin but over people say no because its just a game. I need someone to point out the facts. Please!! No opinions are right untill someone points out the facts in things. Well of course that itself is a opinion- oh nevermind you get the question.

Thank you, I will lay off assassins creed a lot more. Even though you lose health if you kill random peasents But still thank you. I hope laying off the video games will help with help my anger and tolerence issues. :)

Well from my experience, the best thing is to draw closer to Christ. I remember I used to love violent video games, not because of the violence, but because of the fact that a lot of violent games are very fun to play. As I drew closer it became harder and harder to play them because of the simulated violence toward those made in the image of God. Especially now since those "simulated people" are more and more lifelike, they scream and cry in agony when killed.

all i can say is a game will not make you into a killer or a violent person your mind needs to be built for that and video games will not do that to your mind. loads of test and research has been done both always showing the opposite result the research done is from the book grand theft childhood.

i do belive that mature games effects kids in the sense of them swearing as for aggresion side i dont think they would go looking for a fight but if they was put into one they proberly will but we all know the fact that kids fight and maybe games gives them more confidence to defend themselves against bullies

I know the studies. I know what everyone says but LOOK AT ME. i played M games when I was young and such and they had no effect whatsoever
but other people are not the same as me. I do agree kids should not play M rated games and there is a big reason for that. But for adults?
THIS IS A GREY AREA! There is nothing specifically said about video games in the bible obviously.
Look at your intentions and look at the games effects on you. Violence has not really effected me much. It hasn't made me more violent and it hasn't caused me to do any bad things. It doesn't effect """"ME"""" much. So ""I"" know violent games are just entertainment for me. BUT if they have negative effects on you then you should avoid them.
M rated game should not be for children. Sexual Games should be avoided.
If God draws you away from the games then get away. If not then who am i stay to say anything?
this is personal conviction and everyones different. Is there a specific right and wrong? I don't think there is.
If your behavior and such is getting effected or now is currently bad and you play these games then you need to stop.

I think we can draw an analogy to this issue with something Jesus said to his disciples. "If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell." This version is from Matthew (v. 29-30), but it is repeated almost verbatim in the Gospel of Mark.
"M games", in my opinion, are similar to this situation. They may lead us to sin, and they really don't do any good. In the verse immediately preceding the one above, Jesus told them "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:28) I believe that getting enjoyment from M games is comparable to this. Sinning in our hearts or minds is the same as sinning with our physical bodies.
Therefore, if it were me, I would try to resist the temptation of these types of games.

you have a point. Video games are the same as watching tv or sports. They bring no benefit to us but are used for entertainment.
Depending on how certain things used for entertainment effect you, you should stay away from.

I am going to go with both yes and no. In Christ all things are permissable. So no it is not a sin. But at the same time you should follow the convictions of the Spirit. If you are feeling convicted that there is something not right about playing those games than obey that conviction and avoid them as sin.

In and of itself, no, of course it's not sinful. However, if a video game requires you to consistently simulate immoral acts, then I don't know, maybe that could have adverse affects on your conscience. On the other hand, when you're playing a game, you're playing a role, right? So is it really substantively different from an actor portraying immoral acts? I don't think it is, so I cannot condemn these video games without also condemning most other forms of media entertainment, and I'm not about to do that.

Yeah I don't think because a game is M makes it an automatic sin to play it. I just finished the game "Dante's Inferno" and the experiences from it actually had the opposite effect.

It depends on the type of game. Some M rated games are much worse than others, and are no worse than what's on TV, in movies, or music. Man has been violent throughout history, and the kids that are effected by games either have poor parenting or mental issues.

He will never approach us that way only ARMED with LOVE,Forgiveness of Sin and SAlvation , but that question IS posed to us by a fallen creation to our sinful natures , Christ will hear the answer having already borne the pain of even the Quetion. Just tell Him you Love Him you will or are His, Im sure you have a bible and Really STAY AWAY from the official bible "answer men" in this very last hour befor YOU find yourself in haven having MADE your own chioce ( You will find He Loves youso much Hemade the choice for you dying on the cross but know you may feel that you must choose, loves youso much he Hears You )

Not ALL "M" rated games are bad...same goes for "T." I mean, I agree that a lot of them should never have made it to the store, but not all are bad...
