...and I feel such a deep profound sadness.
I understand that human nature is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
I know if one was black, or any minority in the 50's or 60's, or even the 70's, it is far better now. I realize that it is generally better for woman today. And disabled people. And immigrants. And other groups as well
I know the 1950's and 60's had there share of issues.
But it just seems to me as a society we have lost what little innocence that was remaining the last decade or so.
We were not as educated back then, not as sophisticated as now. But at what price does all of this come?
God is never wrong. Ever. To know good from evil is not power, it is a horror.
Better not to have ever known sin, not to know the lusts of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
It is all so fleeting, and comes at such a irrevocable price.
I look at my children, so young and innocent, enjoying their little world.
I know why, most anyone that reaches a certain age knows why Solomon said it is a vapor, it amounts to nothing.
How in the world do atheists manage? It seems like such a bleak and hopeless way to live. It can be hard enough even with God at times.
It would be nice if we could retain that youthful pessimism from our younger days, when our eyes were not as wide open.
I feel bad for kids today. They grow up with a shorter span of that, and in a era that just feels so different, no matter where they are, city or country, they can't escape the oppressiveness of it all.
And this coming from someone who has a generally optimistic view of life, who usually envisions the hope of Sunday, after the darkness of Friday.
God help us, and God watch over us.
