I voted work because even if the woman stays at home she should be doing something lol. If there are kids involved I believe that if at all possible the wife should be there to raise them, you shouldn't be sending your kids to basically have someone else raise them so you can afford the luxuries of life, or because she just feels she has a right to. I consider that neglect if it's not really neccacary to do.

wanna bet? For mothers, often looking after the kid is the best excuse for watching TV with the kid , or leaving em with granma or the babysitter to go shoe shopping. As a single male I cook, clean, do the dishes , shop, everything, and I still have enough time in the day to work 50 hours a week + have free time. Makes me wonder just what it is stay at home women actually do in a 12 hour day?
i do agree with you that some mothers do have time chatting with friends and do shopping because nothing to do at home.the husband is capable of providing babysitter and generously gave huge amount to her.the husband loves to see her enjoying, but not to those mother's who knows how to value and love their role as a wife and mother.they are really hardworking.i am not married but i know the role of a woman stay home.i did look after my 3yrs.old sibling.do household chores and cook for my parents.toddler's is not easy to look after while doing other things.don't compare your life as a single living alone.there's a big difference.
in fact a lot of married women nagging their husband because of their burden.and even walk out from marriage.they are tired of their life being a wife and mother.

i am a woman but because im poor,i did help my father in his responsibility as a provider to his family.at the age of 21,i start working and help him financially to support my siblings in their schooling.most women in my country became the breadwinner.
i disagree when you said looking after babies is an excuse, maybe to those lazy and iresponsible woman but seldom.i dont know in your place..:)
