I feel guilty writing for prayers and asking for support when other are going through much worse trials. My problem is anxiety and depression from my husband losing his teaching contract. There is much more to this, hopefully you can read my first post. I don't want to keep repeating myself to the great people who have sent me support. I am having a problem just getting up and making myself look at all I have right now. I have always struggled with depression in one form or another (not enough to stop me from working and living) but it plagues me. From what I know about my ancesters, this is something that runs in the family. (I THINK a person's chemistry might be connected). I am having dreams about my past . . . at least that is what happened for a couple of nights. I have made mistakes and they are in front of me when I awake. This on top of fighting a fear of what is next. I don't expect you great Christian Chatters to be my therapists, but I just need someone to be here. I have a few friends, but I don't want to talk about this. Sometimes a stranger is such a blessing and comforter sent from God. Does anyone ever feel open enough to chat by phone? All replies are appreciated.

You need to cast down those thoughts and feelings of fear and anxiety....meditate on the name of Jesus when you feel anxious/fearful it does wonders, plead the blood of Jesus over your soul and emotions to bring calm. Satan may be attacking you with this because things seem uncertain for you right now in life....draw closer to God and He will give you calm in difficult circumstances....God Bless

A couple of things come to mind, reading your post. First, as far as dreams being messages, no, dreams are not messages. Sometimes a dream reveals something to us, but it is not a message.

As far as the depression goes, there can be scientific reasons for this, I suppose, such as chemical imbalances. I am no doctor, so I can't speak much on that topic. I think a lot of depression - I experienced some depression as a young adult - can come from choices we are making in our lives.

I think the biggest thing here, though, is faith. We need to learn to trust the Lord. That is what I would suggest you do: Strengthen your faith. If you've done everything possible to solve your problems, trust the Lord to take care of you.

I strongly disagree with you about dreams not being messages for some people.

I can personally attest to you that I have had dreams that are messages. And if I have had them, then that means others have too.

It happened in the Bible, but I think it is rare. Otherwise I start trying to read something into every dream I have. If the Lord has something to say to you, he can just say it to you. Why insert it into a dream?

Nancy you have to pray when you don't feel like praying..reach that honest place with God everyday, where you know He really hears you and then act according to what you believe ...

You need to ask Him that, not me.

The lord speaks to me through dreams sometimes... but there is a possibility that the devil is giving you one too. I have had dreams from him too. As I awoke from those dreams I prayed the blood of Jesus over my body, heart, soul, and mind. If the dreams came back, the lord revealed his power over the devil in my dreams. Or those dreams just went away all together. Depression running through the family is a family curse. But any curse whether it's health issues or spiritual, any curse can be broken in Jesus name amen! It does not go away over night -sometimes- but allow the lord to break those chains. And he is faithful! Let him prove that to you♡ I also remember someone telling me, if we truely and utterly trusted the Lord, we would have no anxiety at all. It's hard not to because we are only human. We all will have worldly and spiritual trials. But the lord is faithful and steadfast. He will provide as he does for the birds. We are more precious than birds. Hold on, you got this. Let the lord BE YOUR strength amen. Jesus bless you and your family through this time amen♡

Moat dreams are not from God. I don't know, don't think, the devil has the power to plant dreams in my mind, in a technical sense.
God can.
We can have dreams from God.
I know I have. For sure. Beyond a doubt.

I have a particular sleep cycle I've noticed for years. I assume I dream every night, but during the good side of this cycle, I don't remember them. Then I start remembering my dreams and they're pretty stupid, so not worth remembering. (Usually related to being lost and finding a bathroom because I really have to pee. Then I wake up and I really have to pee. lol) Then they get vivid. Usually vivid is bad. (Sometimes funny.) Then nightmares. And then insomnia.

Once the insomnia hits for a while, the sleep cycle reverts in the same order, (vivid, have to pee, no memory of dreams.)

Yu say you have a family history of depression. I get that. From what I understand, sometimes it is inherited, and I mean that from genes, not raised that way. Have you ever considered your sleep cycle can be the same kind of thing? I think it's weird knowing I'm about to hit vivid dreams soon, whih then means insomnia after that, but I notice weird things like this, and it's like that.

So, instead of getting weirded out that the last couple of nights you had dreams about your past, how about just thinking the last couple of nights you had some very memorable dreams? If it is a sleep cycle, you'll probably have a couple to a few more nights like that and then you sleep differently and they go away. Even people without chronic insomnia have sleep cycles.

And I say that knowing I just woke up from a nap where all my dreams were exactly my latest fears right down the pike. One by one my latest fears visited me in my dreams. I'm just happy they were merely dreams. At least I could wake up from them and they go away. (I might skip napping until the next part of my cycle, but at least they'll go away.)

We may desire that God should give us answers through dreams but God has chosen His word to reveal Himself to us. Trust in Jesus through reading Gods word and refrain from tempting God through dreams and such things.

Dreams are not reliable but Gods word is always trustworthy.

I also grew up with some family that are depressed and such. After putting God first, he taught me to turn the negatives into positives. I now do not like negative. We are children of the most high God . Trust in him and he will work it out. It seems your dreams are from what your going through right now.

I have had dreams that are messages.
If one were to say it may be unusual, then fine, but to say , no, dreams are not messages implying it never happens is not correct.

I wish people would not make specific comments like that.

I have had dreams that I know beyond a doubt were from God.
Why are people presuming to say how God can or can not communicate to us?
You are putting out incorrect info to the OP.

I think there is a danger of people trying to attach interpretations to dreams, which the Lord did not intend.
