I have been thinking about joining the military, but I have a few factories that play into my decision. The biggest being that my parents do not support this choice at all. I don't want to disappoint them because I know things will be difficult between us if I make the decision to join. My next concern is I don't feel led by the Holy Ghost to join; I just personally want to go, and last is this decision going to affect my Christian walk? How does the military view Christians? Any advice appreciated.

You really need to investigate your govt. to get a clear view on their agenda. I say that because over 90% of people don't know anything about their govt. except what them & the media says..... lies.
Me personally, you couldn't pay me enuff money to join.

With all the fearmongering & warmongering going on, it makes absolutely no sense to do so.

If you don't feel the Holy Spirit is leading in this decision, then that would be your answer, I think. Why would you want to do something contrary to the Holy Spirit?

If you want to do something really bad, that could be the Lord's way of telling you it would be a good choice. Part of your decision has to be how your parents feel about it. I think defending one's country is an honorable occupation, but you need to give it a lot of thought. There will be nothing easy about it, I assume.

Maybe you should go visit your local VFW or talk to someone who has experience in the military.
You might want to ask the military if you can talk to a military chaplain.
Or you could call around to a bunch of churches and ask if they know any military chaplains or people who have been military chaplains.

I don't see any correlation between joining the military and your Christian faith. Some are of the opinion that a Christian should not join the military but I think that is a load of nonsense. Serving your country is a noble profession.

Based on my experience as a former member of the armed forces I can highly recommend to young adults an enlistment in the military. It is an excellent way to acquire essential life experiences and discipline. After your term of service you will have the benefit of having a huge chunk of your college education paid for. Your parents have to understand that unless you leave the nest you will never learn to fly. Maybe you should consider joining the Air Force? Either branch you choose will be the adventure of a lifetime.

How can a Christian knowingly work for the devil Obama?

Soon they will be asked to turn on the citizens.

I would say he should not work for the devil

No, that's not the way it works. At night, in basic training, there is nobody up at night getting it on. There are gays in any occupation. They live in this country too and maybe a certain few feel that it is worth defending.

Please do not! I say this out of fellow concern, as some others have said, you need to do some research about it and the truth will probably scare you. You don't need to give your precious life for some damn bankers and corporations profiting off your spilled blood. The military people I love b/c they are truly great and good people but they are used by your govt for profiteering and then discarded...heck they can't even treat their veterans with the VA system...there are horror stories on the internet....the so called "benefits" of joining is complete bs....the cost on you especially if you go to war is not worth it suffering with PTSD, and all the crap vaccines they put into you all in the name of protecting you.....Please do not join, your parents are right in not wanting their child sacrificed for corporate greed and crafty politicians who don't send their own damn children to wars...they sit back and use the vets as pawns for their wars....

That was a quote of an intellectual that had disdain for the common person and a disconnect from the day to day reality of the struggle to just make it through another day. Back in that day the draft staffed the military and it was in organization that was looked on with disdain.

Today's military is totally a volunteer force for the few who are willing to make the necessary sacrifices required by military service in order for the citizens of the United States and our allies to enjoy the freedom that, for the most part, is taken for granted.

I want to offer a toast to those brave enough who have served and are defending our country today. "Here's to us and those like us. There are damn few left."

Yes but this guy HK has been involved in developing foreign policy for several decades over there.....he actually lauded Obama when he was elected as a chance for him to further implement his plan of dominating other nations as HK has been doing for well over 40 yrs at least if not more...

...considering the military...
Have you sought the Lord in prolonged prayer for His will upon this for your life, if not I suggest you try doing that?

The Lord is NOT a task master, He wants you to enjoy the secular work you do (for Him). Col 3v23,24

Also, if you think your abilities and talents could be used in the military and that you would find fulfillment in it, then it is certainly worthy of your consideration.

Do be aware that the Lord Jesus is MORE concerned about the work you do, than you are, He want you to find fulfillment in it!

I appreciate all the advice, and just to clear things up. I am female. Not too worried about the gays.
