take the bull by the horns, start tonite tomorrow, for there is someone out there who needs it now and can't wait until years,, for a preacher to be seasoned, know the bible front to back, fully educated, those are just shackles n chains. To preach the word there's no requirement don't let anybody say you can't start today, ludicrous.. Even just reading it out loud to others word for word is preaching.
Because God was unaware a few years ago that that someone would need him today? Huh?

Speaking of ludicrous.

A willing Spirit and a dynamic prayer life are keys.
You can start tonight.
i hope my previous post didn't discourage you if you want to do that.
I was trying to point out that if you wanted to preach in churches, most of them anyway, you would need, in most cases, to have some kind of previous experience somewhere with either preaching and/or the subject matter, and had been immersed in the word for at least a little while.
But God can do anything with anyone as He chooses and influences the heart of men.
And if you go out on the streets, or something like that, you should have a fundamental knowledge to be able to answer questions. Some people may be hostile and challenging and may ask you things to detour you or embarrass you.

I think you need to surround your self with Christians showing the fruit. Build up your relationship, prayer life and study with Jesus. If it is of Jesus, the Spirit will tell you. Either by prophecy a heart thing and or both. Are you attending a bible based church who move in the Spirit?

Hi everyone, first I'd like to say hi to everyone new to the site. Next I'll give a bit of background info. I was raised in a semi Christian home and have dreamed of preaching in my younger days. Then high school came along and while I didn't do any drugs alcohol or anything like that I was a long way from God. In fact I didn't even claim to be saved I thought I was but wasn't sure so didn't claim to be. Anyway now I'm 25 married with kids and not to long ago I felt a huge hole. I tried I don't know how many hobbies and jobs and things trying to fillthe emptiness but it just stayed. I was happy with my life my wife and I has been married 7 years and our children are great, work in a good job (hate it but pays great) and still a huge hole in my life. So while sitting in the hospital waiting on our new baby to arrive I started thinking. Admittedly I looked outside Christianity at other religions(just researching)and it felt as if I were doing something terrible. Anyway I started to research Christ and a lot of things in the bible and everything else makes sense. I knew for a fact there was a god(that's a whole other story) but I didn't know where to turn. But when researching Christ something clicked and I ask for forgiveness and now I know 1000% I'm a child of God.
Now I have a want to preach and serve God but how do I know if that's what he wants me to do. Where do I go from here. I've been praying for God to show me what he wants with me be it preach teach or whatever but I have no confirmation on what do where to start. I just know that I want God to use me, wherever that leads. If you guys was in my shoes what would you all do.

Talk to your pastor about it, he's already where you think God wants you to be.

In first, you need to know where to preach, your church, your town, your nation, or another nation. Of course, it's course, its different of preparation, and variance kind of the learning. In second, are you set to pay the price for Him? You have to sacrifice for Him a lot, your friends, your hobby, your time. Many people are going to hate you;You get willing when you stay in the deep love with Him only. Its what's the readiness about. By the way, the way, just take a look on the street preachers and learn from them. They do it in the same way as He did.

What I'm seeing in this thread is a big part of the problem in the church today. Everybody wants to be a preacher. This is good but preaching as a witness for the Lord is not the same as preaching to the church.

If God has called a man to preach then God will make it clear that the calling is from Him. I suggest that doing what Gideon did and putting out a fleece before the Lord is a good thing.

Pulpits all across America today are adorned by good meaning and well intended men who simply are not called to preach. The evidence is obvious in the pews of the churches. Not according to size or finances but by the discipleship in the pews.

Meh. I agree with this one more.
A call to preach is a call to prepare.

I knew I wasn't a preacher because I'm not willing enough to go the distance on the preparing part. Not enough passion to spend hours and hours and hours per day to learn and then learn to preach. Just not my talent or passion. So God taught me what I wasn't by figuring what I'm not willing to do.
