Last Saturday at work one of the guys I work with used the horribly "gd" word. So I instantly told him not to say that word. He looks at me and says " sorry for saying that I know you are a Christian. " As horrible as this sounds I became embarrassed, and I can't even remember my reply I just looked at him like oh no here comes the ridicule. So he continues on and makes the remake that he knew I was a Christian because of the first time a while back I called him out on using that word. He said "only Christians will call you out on that stuff, and this how he knew I was one." I replied back, " that's right". Right there is where my memory gets fuzzy, because i cant remember if i replied " that' s right" there or after his very first comment of saying " sorry i know your a Christian." So after all that of him saying only Christians will call you out and he knew I was one I finally got enough courage to reply " well I'm glad you know that." I know all this sounds like I'm bringing over dramatic, but did I deny God by not saying commenting back the first time that yes I am a Christian? It bothers me that I became afraid when he said I was a Christian. That fact that I even had to take a moment to think of how he is gonna make fun of me is really bothering me.
The disciples all fled Jesus on the cross because they were scared and ashamed so you are doing a little better than they were because it isn't easy and a lot of us feel the same difficulty. I think the only ones that were there were probably John and Mary.

No it doesn't sound like it. In all my years of studying scripture I believe that God is only concerned with us believing in the finished work of Christ. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say for instance if you would have said yes I'm a Christian how would have that ever compare to Christ, the sinless Son of God, dying for your sins on the cross? My advice to everyone is to continue in the word until you know exactly what God is saying to us even if you had to live at home with your parents until your sixty because I have found out that live doesn't even start until one enters God's rest!

Part of my job working with developmentally disabled adults involves transportation, usually in my own car. I don't mind if they swear, but they know my rule about using "GD." I explain to them that God doesn't talk about them that way, and they shouldn't talk about Him that way. Then I ask them to use the F-word instead. :D They usually are in thought for several minutes and stop swearing altogether.

I'm curious as to what part of your body fell off in shock because you heard a particular word? Forget the Military, you won't even be able to do simple street ministry if you are that easily offended.

Don't feel bad it's normal not to want to get into it with someone over a curse word. You can always tell someone that you would appreciate if they wouldn't say that word or other curse words around you. Whether or not they go along with that is their decision and it isn't something you have to worry about. In this day and age its hard to not hear curse words fairly regularly it's become normal. You do you and let other people do themselves.

You know how when someone asks you if you know right then you will get to heaven raise your hand and you do raise your hand but then doubt still arises. Not me anymore I can raise my hand with a hundred percent confidence know that I will be with the Lord forever. What I said earlier is absolutely true and understanding that no one is to build on the foundation of Jesus Christ is the only way you won't get thrown out of the wedding feast into everlasting punishment. Many here are more concerned with being right than seeing the truth and I'm not judging I used to be the same way. Its funny sometimes we think we are hoier than everyone else and we forget our horrible sinful past. I know one thing we have to repent of every sin even ones we might not be aware of such as bitterness towards political parties and such. What I wrote in these two threads are way to complex to explain fully on this discussion board, but to say I'm wrong isn't true.

No you didn't. You can't deny God on accident or by omission. Don't be terrorized by religious spirits trying to call your salvation into question. They work by fear of hell, and fear of condemnation, and shame. Don't listen to them, kick them out, listen to the holy spirit; listen to the voice of the one who truly loves you and talks about how much Jesus did for you, and why he did it for you and how he loves you so much.

OK - so you told someone not to use "gd" as a swear word. Sounds like you did okay. If he is being a jerk afterwards, I don't see why you need to say anything to him at all.

But he's wrong. I know some very classy non-Christians who would call him out on that language as well.

You are absolutely correct and the longer I study the word I understand how vital it is for us to learn from God alone. I have noticed that every promise in the word the world will try to convince us it isn't true. I have also learned that many in the world will pose as Christians to try to convince us it isn't true.
