Hi. I am a Christian, and I'm assuming everyone reading this is as well, or seeking Christian advice. I am writing this to express both my sadness and anger of people's lack of understanding and cruelty toward the LGBT community. Most people treat these people so poorly due to religious reasons. I am a straight female. Am I ever going to fall in love with a woman, or turn into a man? No. I'm not. However, that does not give me the right to judge or treat anyone discriminately because of their choices. Does the Bible say homosexuality is wrong? Yes. I'm not denying that AT ALL. But that's just a minor detail of the Bible. We all read the Bible seeking information and understanding of God's love and how his son, Jesus Christ, made the ultimate sacrifice for us. The majority of the Bible contains how humans should love and embrace and show kindness to every human being. I am so sick of people being hateful towards people who make their decisions THAT DO NOT AFFECT ANYONE BUT THEM. What I mean by that is, even if you don't personally agree with homosexuality, which is perfectly fine, you can't be discriminatory towards people who have a different belief and are making their own choices. Especially when you aren't personally affected by their sexuality in anyway. If you think homosexuality is a "sin", you must think the world is some perfect place where no one ever does anything wrong. I have news for you. People do much worse things than love someone of the same sex. People who identify as homosexual cause no harm whatsoever. The type of thinking that anyone who goes beyond a stereotype of what the ideal human should be is sinning is ridiculous. I guarantee every person reading this has done something against God's word. And I'm sure if people showed you hate and cruelty because of it, you would feel insecure about yourself too. So instead of shutting people down for being different, let's lift everyone up. We all bleed red. We are all human. And we are all God's children. We should treat people as that, regardless of sexuality, race, gender, or anything else that people may have an issue with. If you are truly Christian, you would show love and acceptance to everyone. Not just people like you. I am not saying all Christian people do this, but at my high school, there has been severe bullying by people who use their religion as an excuse to torment a homosexual guy at my school. And I'm tired of it. The world will always have problems if people focus on the differences of people in a negative way instead of embracing them. There are so many worse things that happen than someone identifying themselves as homosexual. Let's remember one thing: just because you personally disagree with something, you shouldn't try to bring other people down. Show love to everyone.

Yes, we should love everyone. But that's not the end of the story. You're picking and choosing what you want to believe.

Julia,

A lot of of us already tolerate them.
What they are fighting us on is endorsement.
They won't have peace until they make us endorse them and they will call us cruel until we endorse their behavior.

I'm sorry, with all due respect, but that's very arrogant. People aren't looking for us to "endorse them." They just want to be able to marry and be with the person they love? People can be gay and still be Christian. And I find it very disrespectful when you say "tolerate" like you have to put up with people being gay. It doesn't affect you in any way. They have to tolerate people's hate and arrogance too!!!

A) Use paragraphs.
B) Homosexuality is not listed as 'minor'. It is listed as an abomination. Which is quite significant.
C) I don't 'think' homosexuality is a sin. I know it is. Because God said so. Believing in God's word doesn't mean i live in a 'perfect' world. It means i read and understand what the Creator of all things has to say on the subject.
D) This 'harmless' group is force feeding their acceptance, not only on adults, but indoctrinating it into young children, Against the wishes of their parents. Also, if you do not say homosexuality is ok then you are branded a homophobe and hateful. Just for saying 'i disagree' without actively doing anything against anyone. That is not a harmless group, either.
E) The bible doesn't say 'we are all God's children'. That is a secularization of Christianity. The bible says those who are born again are Adopted into God's family.
F) Accepting a person doesn't mean accepting their choices. If i had a kid who became a murderer i would still love them, without approving of, what they did. And voicing my disapproval in a right manner is not unloving.
G) Lets remember, there are atheists who mistreat homosexuals and Christians who treat them well. So this anti-Christian rant is pretty biased and one sided, and therefore, inaccurate, like much of what you've said.
H) There are all kinds of other people who are mistreated, including Christians, why are you only defending a small section of the billions of people unless you have some other motive?

I respect you opinion, but I disagree when you say I'm picking and choosing what to believe. I believe that we all should worry about our own sins and relationship with God and not judge other people's lives and choices.

People can engage in biblical abomination and still be biblically Christian? How does that work exactly?

Either we agree with what God and the bible says or we do not? Should we respect God? None of us are perfect, but if we call ourselves Christian should we at least try to follow and obey God's rules?

I dont think homosexuality is any different from any of the other unnatural lusts.

Even in respects to lusts within the more natural range (as we might refer to it) these would still be equal when it come to not entering the Kingdom of God

No one should be mean to any fornicator, adulterer, homosexual, covetous person, drunkard, and the rest of the like not entering the Kingdom of God. Paul just distinguishes between that which does this being in the world and that which calls itself a brother and be similiar.

First of all, I am not targeting Christians. I said quite clearly not all Christians do this, but we are on a Christian site (check your URL) and we all read the same bible, so I was merely expressing my opinion based on other Christian's views. And this isn't a rant against Christians, or else the header would say so. It's a rant against people showing hatred to others just because they didn't follow God's word on one specific topic. I'm sure you've sinned before and went against God. It comes across arrogant when you act as if gay people are the only people sinning. Also, I would like to point out that I clearly said its OKAY IF YOU DONT AGREE WITH PEOPLES CHOICES. I understand that completely. But that does not equal showing hatred towards them either.

I'm sure you've done something that hasn't "followed and obeyed God's rules" because we all sin.

If we all read the same bible then why are you espousing unbiblical ideas?

You may have said it's ok to disagree, but i would like to point out that i was referring to homosexuals expectations.

Who defines "hatred" ..you or God...because God says if you don't reprove this behavior...you hate those who you approve in this type of wickedness

And yes, we are on a Christian site, and yet you come here speaking on things that go against Christian teachings stemming from the bible. Perhaps you are the one that needs a URL check.

Yea...and I assure you my Christian brothers and sisters would and do hold me to account ..as does the Word of God..Holy Spirit and my own conscience ...so what point do you think you are making biblically?

it's just too easy to call people that we don't like or that we don't agree with as "arrogant" Way too convenient.

I'm not allowed to represent God and say God says something that He will not say.
Therefore, Homosexuals are not respecting what I believe and are trying to change me.
I will not endorse Homosexuality.
And they do hate and they are not neutral with Christians and they go out of their way to find a believer to sue.

Yes we all sin, but after Christ rose Peter said now let us go onto perfection, Christ told the prostitute to go and sin no more, do you think he would have said anything else to homosexuals?
