I gave my life to Christ nearly a month ago in a situation where I should have been an atheist.
I have since been prayed for by a dear church member who loves me dearly, but that's not the point.

I used to be an aggressive person, but to my family, more so my wife, and we would yell at each other and it wouldn't be good; it was a bad place to be in.
More so to do with me not letting go of the past, and it's weird because I was prayed that it would leave me and I feel like it did...

But since giving my life to Christ things have been a lot better, I read my Bible a lot more and I incorporate Christ in everything I do, I try to at least and I feel different; he is my refuge and in him do I give my all, my identity is him, he is my Lord.

Very recently though I had a brain snap and I feel that I was lead by the demonic spirits (attacking my mind) which lead me to be upset at my wife -bringing up the past- and we argued, then I lost it -- I went to my old ways and I am not proud.
I feel ashamed, confused, scared, fearful and mad. How can I be so 'Christian' then lose all sight of that and walk in the flesh?

Why did this happen?

Why can't I let go of the past when I said I have, and I felt that spiritually I was free?

It sucks.

Don't beat yourself up over stumbling. That is exactly the enemy's plan.
Every moment of every day we will live in either our dead flesh or our living Spirit in Christ. There is no in between. That is why Scripture tells us to take each thought captive. Love your wife as Jesus loves the Church. Do that and let the Lord deal with any issue your wife may have.

May God's peace fill your heart and mind.

Been walking with Jesus over 30 years.

You are normal friend.

Following Jesus is always forward. So anytime you see the reverse gear, reach over and put it in drive. Don't look back. Looking back is a bad habit.

Now,you are born again. Declare it to hell and the devil, but cling to Jesus and the cross.

What is his cross?

Death. We die DAILY. We declare before heaven that "I lay down ambition, goals, self, desires, lust, etc."

"I claim to myself your desires, goals, kingdom, and your will, for my life"

Start your day clean, and cast off yesterday.

The bible says" his mercy and compassion is made new every morning"

Refuse a yoke of condemnation, sadness,or oppression.

Cast it off. Clothe yourself in the awesome promises, and enjoy the ride.

The battlefield if the believer is the mind. Let God rule your mind. Do so by speaking directly to the devil. Tell him" I rebuke you Satan,I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind and my family"

Tell everyone you are sorry. Humble yourself.

GOD IS WITH YOU!!!

You have victory.

Not because everything is going right. BUT BECAUSE HE SAID SO.

YOU ARE NORMAL FRIEND. JUST MAKE SOME ADJUSTMENTS.

As time goes by,you will find that your ability to walk with Jesus is dependent upon your ability to repent.

We do fall friend. We disappoint ourselves.

We get back up,dust off ourselves, and ask for forgiveness, then refuse the devils condemnation.

Condemnation and oppression are stalkers. Just get in the habit of refusing that junk.

Remember, when bondage knocks on your door,RECOGNIZE it. Refuse it.

Write down Romans 8. LIVE IN THAT FREEDOM.NEVER PARK UNDER OPPRESSION.

You become a brand new person in your spirit when you were born again.
That is to say that you have been reconnected and reconciled to God the Father
through God the Son's sacrifice and resurrection, when you accepted that free gift.
God the Holy Spirit now dwells within you so spiritually you are brand new. This you
didn't exist before. Hallulajah. :D

However you still have the same decaying body with all its desires. If you were short before you will
still be short, if you were tall before you will still be tall.

You also still have that inner man with you
the bible refers to it as "the old man" the soulish personality you were before. So in that respect
you are only one third brand new.

One day your body will have have ran its course and you will be given a new heavenly indestructible
body to go with that new spirit - ie two thirds brand new.

Oh but that soulish old man is a pain! It takes a life time to be fully renewed, for attitudes to
change, for spiritual wisdom to prevail, for old habits to be overcome etc.

Look up these bible verses about putting off the old man - we all struggle with this.

22 Bible verses about Putting Off The Old Man

The good news is that the brand new awakened spiritual part within you, means that you
now have a sensitive conscience. You will become aware more than ever before if you do
something wrong. Say sorry, to your wife and to God. Ask God to help you to deal with your
past and then leave it in the past. Ask for help for your wife as well.

The Bible refers to it as the renewing of the mind, it talks a long time and there will be stumbles and
falls along the way. It's not so much that we fall that is the issue, it's how we pick ourselves up and
learn from it and how we let God in and build that relationship with Him, which counts the most.

Romans 12:1-2 NLT
[1] And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because
of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice-the kind he will find acceptable.
This is truly the way to worship him. [2] Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world,
but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will
learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And do not
be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you
may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Get on eBay and purchase the bible on DVD.

King James ,read by Alexander Scobey.

It plays for 72 hours straight. Fill your home with that fragrance.

Let it invade your mind and body and soul.

I have had it playing straight for many months. Sometimes I sleep with it on.

IT IS A MASSIVE GAME CHANGER.

Welcome to the family Brother Red_love !!! And I second what Popeye and PennEd said., YOU ARE NORMAL. The enemy will try and use condemnation on you. The very question you asked is one we all asked and ask. The answer is you are a new creation IN Christ and are learning how to have your mind renewed by the Holy Spirit who is in you. You are learning how to walk and of course you will not walk 100% mature., You are in the process just like all of us. Amen it's a good process!! And Jesus promises to go with us and He gave us the Holy Spirit to be in us and teach us and guide us through the Word of God and our daily lives.

[SUP]22 [/SUP]that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires,

[SUP]23 [/SUP]and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude],

[SUP]24 [/SUP]and put on the new self [the regenerated and renewed nature], created in God’s image, [godlike] in the righteousness and holiness of the truth [living in a way that expresses to God your gratitude for your salvation].

Press on. Phil.3:13

[SUP]10 [/SUP]And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did];

[SUP]11 [/SUP][SUP][a][/SUP]so that I may attain to the resurrection [that will raise me] from the dead.
[SUP]
12 [/SUP]Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on [SUP][b][/SUP]so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own.

[SUP]13 [/SUP][SUP][c][/SUP]Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,

[SUP]14 [/SUP]I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

[SUP]15 [/SUP]All of us who are mature [pursuing spiritual perfection] should have this attitude. And if in any respect you have a different attitude, that too God will make clear to you.

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Only let us stay true to what we have already attained.

We have been given the gift Jesus righteousness so there is no more condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Accept the gift of no condemnation and walk in His forgiveness. When we fall, we get back up again and keep following the Good Shepherd Jesus. He is no condemning you. Peace and joy are His gift to us. Blessings!!

Relax, you just made a mistake it's ok. The Lord will still accept you, God accepts that we do mistakes because we are human and we are faulty. We can never be perfect while on this earth and the Lord understands that. Because that Jesus died for our sins, it is ok that we do mistakes and we are forgiven. The thing that matters is that you stick by God and don't give up, many people stumble when in a good place, it's when the demons usually try to attack people, but keep your head up, and know the Lord is with you and that you are forgiven in the name of Jesus.

Pray for forgiveness, and stick to God's word.

It's a slow process, you can't become a Christian and have everything change all at once.....it's just a sad reality. Christ takes you step by step. I've had anger issues before, but it took a while for Christ to heal some areas of my life where I didn't let go of the past. It held me back but once I let it go, I was more free and able to be more productive in life. My mind was free of the torture I put on myself by being resentful/regurgitating the past mistakes. Take it to Christ in prayer and know it may not be gone overnight but constant prayer and fellowship with Jesus will be like an ice pick on a block of ice. Slowly you can chip it down to where it's nothing at all or very small that you don't even realize it's there anymore.

What may you think after comparing what you may look at below ?

Part of Matthew 5:44

love your enemies

Psalm 119:51

The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law.

Part of Ecclesiastes 3:7

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

A translation of Philippians 2:4

not looking to your own advantage only but each of you to the advantage of the others

Part of 1 Peter 3:9

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult.

Part of Acts 26:14

It is hard for you to kick against the goads.'

Words or thoughts like goads metaphorical/talking in similarity

Proverbs 26:

18 Like a maniac shooting flaming arrows of death
19 is one who deceives their neighbor and says, "I was only joking!

Proverbs 26:12

Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.

Matthew 18:3

And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

A way to look at Matthew 7:12

So in everything, do/say to others what you would have them do/say to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Matthew 7:26

But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

Compared to:

Part of Matthew 6:9 "This, then, is how you should pray:

James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
