Over the course of my life I feel I have developed the fear of being around other Christians and going to Church. I know all the right answers and scripture. I did go to bible school! But the fear is so real it seems to be hindering me from going to church or even fellowshipping with others. I have been abused in my up bringing! The fear is controlling my life and keeps me living in survival mode. I stay isolated and do not hang out with others....which I would love to fellowship and do activities I love!

NO ONE "knows all the right answers and scripture". Not unless you're God, and I'm pretty sure you aren't.. :)

You know if I posted what the OP said And then read your response I would crawl back into my cave of isolation and cry.

He is referring to the robot responses of saying what people want to hear about being "okay" or "saved" but hiding the hurt and pain inside. Not connecting with others because thought of self doubt or lack of faith that people actually care or understand or wondering why bother?

I'd say the same about most of the responses.

When I first accepted Jesus as my savior, I experienced fear as well....fear of being accepted for who I was, so I would put up a fake facade being who I thought people wanted me to be.

My key Bible verse is "God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind"

I was abused as a child and had trust issues. I wondered if my Heavenly father was like my earthly one.

Eventually God's love taught me to trust Him and revealed that my fear was due to a lack of faith in His love for me.

I knew God was good, but I also new I was not. I didn't feel worthy of God's love, but eventually the gospel message of grace moved from an. Intellectual understanding to a life giving river of love and hope flowing into my heart.

God has placed the desire for fellowship and service to others in your heart. Don't let fear and the lies of the Enemy and your lack of faith keep you from what God calls you to do.

We are but one member in the Body of Christ. Let us join together and glorify our Lord and savior.

We will all pray that God guards our words so that we don't add pain or fire arrows at an already wounded sibling, knowing that God forgives our trespass as we forgive others who have hurt and wounded us.

Sounds like you need a healthy dose of the Lord's prescription! LOVE!

I will love you brother. We are all a part of the same Body. Jesus Christ. If my leg or arm is in pain it affects my whole body.

God loves you, we love you. Find a congregation that cares and loves you. I pray you find this fellowship love.

There appears to be two stories here.
1. I used to function well around christians, and people in general
2. I now I cannot go near christians etc

Something has changed between these two positions.
One way of dealing with this is remembering the attitudes and emotions
you used to have in the situations, and learning to expect the same
interactions again.

Some reactions can be emotional changes in our makeup which have no
obvious foundation or cause in our lives, but we can re-establish behaviour
and reactions that we used to benefit from by just putting things into effect.

In essence this is CBT, or Cognative Behavioural Therapy.
It is saying our bodies can change our behaviour which we can then reverse
by positive reinforcement of experience. But key to all of this is using ones
positive memories of past experiences, and putting past behaviour into effect.
This lays down a new positive experience which puts to rest all the fears and
negative expectations now dominant in the current time. It is like an express
train, once you let the negative feelings dominate, they then cut off any positive
experiences which would start the road to recovery.

In many ways this is the same as following Christ. By learning to love, to see need
and meet it, we learn the positive reactions we get, and not the rejection or hurt we
expected that drive us further into great acts of love and enthusiasm. It is ofcourse
empowered by the love of Christ working in us.

This is not what the Bible says!!
The verse is directly below this. Yes it does. The Holy Spirit and the Power of the MOST High, which is God the Father. Together came over Mary and made the Son of God.

Luke 1:35 The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.

Mankind is made in the image of God, male and female, and reproduce.

No.. A well moderated site will counter abuse no matter what name the person holds..
This site is a perfect example of how untrue this is. The abuse and bickering is constant here because people are hiding in the dark and aren't associating themselves with their actions and words. If their identities were in the light they'd be more careful with their tongues. Maybe. The wolves are allowed to come here in the dark and tear apart the sheep. Where there is darkness there is sin.

I trust God, and through this trust I have learned to trust people enough to be able to help when guided. You know the Bible, so surely you know verses that can help reinforce your ability to trust people through your trust in God.....Verses like God gives us a spirit of confidence not of fear. God gives us a sound mind. Lean NOT on your understanding, but trust God's. They that wait on the Lord can fly like eagles. (okay so I am paraphrasing, but it does say all that)
