To the OP, if you live in a persecuted country where Christians are openly killed
and imprisoned, tortured etc. Then very few on this website could ever possibly
understand and give you a meaningful answer.
The underground persecuted church exists because it is very careful, they have
small gatherings so as not to attract too much attention. They have closely guarded
networks etc. To some degree they must therefore hide their faith from others, but
there is a difference between being careful and hiding ones faith and openly denying
Christ.
I just hope I don't have to face that situation but until a person does, (ie deny Jesus or
be tortured and killed) then no one really can say how they would react.
Incidentally there are examples in the bible of people who hid or ran away under extreme
circumstances.
David when he ran and hid from soul
Elijah when he stayed with the widow and also when he fled from Jezabel
Jesus' parents fled from Herod
There is a time for standing up in the face of extreme opposition under the grace
of God (Steven) and there is time to flee and hide under the protection of God.
What you do in such circumstances is between you and God, trust in Him alone.
