God speaks to me through Nature. I see him in the wind, animals, mountains, rivers, thunderstorms, and well everything great and small. I feel the need to always get back to nature and remind myself there is more to the world than the constant hassle to be at one place or another. One deadline to the next. I enjoy hunting mostly deer, fishing, kayaking, hiking, camping, biking, and just exploring and talking to God in the silence of Nature. My question to you all is...

In what ways has God spoken to you through nature?

I think being with nature forces our minds to clear a little....at least it does with me. For me, the best way I can quiet my mind and just be with God are my weekly walks on the beach. The rest of the week is busy or if I have the kids, I am watching them, etc. But out of the 3-4 days the kids are with their dad, I make time at least one morning to go to the beach and just walk, listen to the waves, be in awe of how big the ocean is and how small we all are, etc. with no set time limit. Hiking, camping, paddleboarding all work for me too, but something about the being next to the ocean helps even more. It's a reminder that all of the other things cluttering my mind are temporal and there is only one thing that really matters.

Most of the time it is simply in the form of a deep peace.

My very best memory of my three years in Scotland is lying in a tent at the clifftop near Duncansby Head, listening to the surge of the sea (and, I think, large rocks being moved by the waves)

I would live outdoors if i could=). But it is also so easy to make nature an idol (like many other things if we're not aware.) For the second question, i always remember Him when i hear songs like This is my Father's world, For the beauty of the earth, others as in lines like 'I see the stars, i hear the rolling thunder...' When i think of Scriptures that talk about God esp when i am out, how i wish these were also printed visibly in the sky so that others who do not know them can literally read :

Job. 12. 7 “But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you.
9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. (NIV)

Psa. 96.

11 Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
12 Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.

Isa. 43.

20The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

Nature is a reminder of God's creation. My favorite place to worship and read scripture is outdoors. There is nothing like reading the Word of God sitting on a rock and the sounds of birds singing in the background. Even nature sings praises to the Lord.

A few years ago my uncle and I decided to go on a 51 mile canoe trip for my graduation present. I will never forget how God moved through nature on this trip. It is still so vivid in my mind and I thirst for the adventure again. I saw beauty all around me and almost got a sense of how the first explorer's explored this country. We started the trip early in the morning and had to at least try to be half way to camp out. It was a very beautiful day, sun shining bright, the river's current was flowing so slow making us have to row almost the whole time. In my many pictures, they only capture a small glimpse of beauty. I will never forget what happen next.

We had been rowing all day until evening. The weather changed so fast I didn't even see it coming. A strong thunderstorm rolled in while we were still trying to find our half way point before dark. The rain was falling so hard we couldn't scoop it out the canoe fast enough. Lightning was striking the trees literally around us. Only making the thunder feel earth shaking. The wind was blowing us sideways. I was defiantly praying lol. But I knew we was in a bad situation and then finally found a bridge. We paddled up under the bridge to take shelter from the storm. As I tried to get out to anchor the canoe I lost my footing on a rock and the canoe flipped, throwing my uncle and me in the water with all our stuff. I lost my uncle for a few mins in the water since he didn't have his life vest on and I did. Finally, what felt like forever he resurfaced laughing at our situation. So we split up knowing we needed something dry to sleep in. Or else it would be really cold that night being soaking wet and no fire. Luckily I thought to bag up all of our clothes, sleeping bag, and tent. Even though they fell in the water, they all was still dry. My Uncle went after the canoe and I did my best setting up the tent in the dark and rain. I remember thinking well I am ready to be home and we was only half way there. We went to bed hungry, cold, and worn out. You would be surprised at how much a life vest keeps your body heat in.

The next morning's sunrise was so beautiful as you can see above. I instantly felt God's beautiful creation but at the same time showing respect for what God can do through nature. The next day was perfect. We got up and ate hot dogs on a fire and drinking the last little bit of water we had before moving on. When the canoe flipped, most our clean water went with it. We were blessed to find a natural spring trickling out from a side of rocks. I thought about boiling it but once I saw how clear it was, I decided to try it. Best tasting water I have ever had, possibly because I was super thirsty but still. Around 4:00 P.M. we finally made it to our destination very tired and a heck of an experience. Which put me so close to Gods raw power I felt like a small speck of sand compared to what God can do.

It never ceases to amaze me at how God provides for everything, the plants, animals and insects. Just seeing a bird in the grass grabbing something to eat and knowing God put that there at just the right time for that insignificant bird.

Amen. I was watching my son the other day take great notice on this very small insect. Or this very small speck in the sky, he will notice such small details that I forget the world around me sometimes. His innocent mind enjoys all aspects of Gods creation while my adult mind gets caught up in earthly matters and I forget to notice the beauty around me.

My discernment is not what it should be. However, I have sensed God in the smell of a slight breeze, reminding me of a trip across the world. I had not thought of the experience in quite some time, yet a little sensitivity while walking through our neighborhood brought it back.

I had spent several weeks in Fiji, walking through daily afternoon downpours. And the adventures under the clouds were seemingly unforgettable. But I did-- forget about them. I forgot so many blessings and lessons on that simple journey.
And over time, I counted what I did not have, while the sands of accurate recall poured past through my questioning.

But God's grace is strange. He can speak through great preaching, the Word, others-- yet he can bring it back to life through a few synchronized rain drops on a couple of branches.

I know the writing is odd and the layout is off-balance, but this is my reply to the question.

God speaks to me through people mostly, and by His Word when I am focused, but the thing about nature is...
it can get a hold of you. For the non-believing, they will find this funny or sad--- but I attribute the "tug" in nature as reminder of how Great God is.

When I'm walking or hiking with the dog I talk to God all the time. My daily walks keep me sane.

I always, when I am really down and want to hear from God I go outside. Often even at night and just sit somewhere praying and thinking. At day he often shows me the beauty and the precise work of his hands that he lets us have to rejoice in day by day.
Nature is kind of a escape for God and I when I feel too much weight on my shoulders. It makes me feel closer to him because theres less man made things. Often he will send me a butterfly!
The funniest that happened to me was that I was waiting at the trainstation ( I always leave soon to talk with God a while ) and I kept hearing a noise in the dark. It sounded like someone was sneaking up to me..And God just said to me to relax and watch. So I relaxed and a mouse came to me! It made my day haha.

That reminds me one time when I was hiking and a baby deer with spots jumped right out on to the path in front of me and just stared at me. It was only about 10 feet away. Coolest experience I have encountered with a wild animal.

one time hubby and I were trail riding in a near-by forest on horses and we were cantering and just
as we were turning a sharp turn, a huge deer jumped right in front of hubbies horse and boy did his
horse panic, luckily, I was able to catch a-hold of hubbies reins and pull him into my horse...he was
very comforted and settled right down...
