Never understood that show myself....I was more into watching 7th Heaven, had a crush on the guys who played Matt and Kevin lol.

Most people enjoy watching shows they can relate to and that one never did interest me. So it could be your wife likes that show because she can relate in some way....just a thought

Perhaps she can give you a little attention during the commercials.
I blame Netflix to be honest, which eliminates commercials btw...

I loved it too and yes, but it showed that even in the most respected families such as a pastors family they do have problems and they are not perfect and do fall under temptation. I watched that show last week when I was down with pneumonia....brought back memories

Yeah, and the guy who played the father, had sex with several underage girls in real life.. real christian-like.. :/
Hey! If I remember correctly it was exposing himself back in college and that was by his soon to be ex wife and he was cleared of all charges against him. So please don't be starting this here. I think this was supposed to be a fun thread

I don't know. I've never seen it.
The show itself is zany, and harmless. It's the uncanny effect on it's viewers that has me perplexed. I watched about 10 minutes (i think, it may have actually been 3 hours, time seemed to stop...) and was like "i dont get it..."

I suppose if there is nothing morally corrupt about the show, you shouldn't worry about it. On the other hand, how many shows aren't at least a little morally corrupt?

Hey! yourself.. It can still be a fun thread. :) I was merely making an observation that he molested 3 underage girls. HE CONFESSED to his wife, but he didn't know she was taping their convo. WHEN it happened is irrelevant. Maybe if CharlieGrown's wife knew what some of the actors on her beloved show have done IRL, she might think the show is hypocritical instead of wholesome.. And cleared of all charges don't make him innocent.

Balsphemy! I did not know about it. So the show was somewhat deceiving? There were actually parts in the show that I do'nt agree about. Looks like they support sex before marriage. But it's just a tv show, you have to exercise discernment when watching. I don't really watch much tv now because there is so much deception there.

I assume she's a christian, encourage her to give her time to the Lord. See if you can get her signed up to do some form of volunteer work, inspire her with scriptures that help her out of this this rut. Check out to see if there's anything wrong, if she' depressed about anything and just glued to that box for another reason. If she really doesn't want to depart from it, see if you can get find some Christ filled programs, movies, preaching etc, to motivate her to live her life for God.

You have a few things in your favour. One, the series is cancelled. So there are a limited number of episodes, she will run out one day. Last winter when I was sick, I started recording reruns of Law and Order SVU. After quite a few months of them never running out, I looked up how long the show was on the air. Turns out 18 years. But even at that, I reached the end of of them.

Second, the series will run out. Oops already said that. But if she starts to watch them over, then you need an intervention.

Netflix gives people the opportunity to see all the episodes quickly, and without ads. I do remember the protaganists slept together, but they did get married. Definitely not Christian, but then, what TV show is? Even that show with the pastor, came up with a lot of humanist garbage, which is why I stopped watching it.
