Whats your views on Halloween? I've never gave it much thought until today because I seen a post up about Christians shouldn't let their kids dress up for Halloween. My 8 year old always dresses up every year for it, it would upset her if I told her she couldn't and she has her little friends coming to my house tomorrow evening to have a party..

1 Corinthians 8

1Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. 2Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. 3But whoever loves God is known by God.[SUP]a[/SUP]
4So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.

7But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. 8But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

9Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? 11So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.

it really doesn't matter who tries to convince who, let us all who Love our Saviour ponder
on what we think HE would DO...or did?

It really is ridiculous, though, when users get to the point of telling you that you are demon-possessed for celebrating certain holidays. I mean, behavior like that is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. :/

Like I always say, God knows our hearts and will judge us individually and accordingly when the time comes. Will not judge people because I did ask the question asking if it's a big deal or not.

No, it's not a big deal unless people make it into a huge colossal deal. Eating candy, dressing up, watching movies, are all done on a daily basis. The only thing that makes it different, is that halloween is a holiday..

Halloween is a big deal for them but christmas, valentines and others are not . They are all the same pagan holidays. Isn't it hipocrasy?

My daughter gave her life to God when she was 6 years old. I have explained to her that we don't celebrate Halloween and for her to look at it as a day to dress up and nothing else.. God knows our insides and our motives

One of the local churches has a super hero day for it. My church doesn't speak or acknowledge it.

Yes it is hypocrisy. Especially since someone on another halloween thread, who says they NEVER eat sugar, asked another user here to save them some peanut butter pumpkins. And that same hypocrit got on ME for eating peanut butter pumpkins.

That's why more and more people convert to Islam because we are a bunch of hypocrites. Lol! Angelina Jolie and Janet Jackson already converted. Maybe we should convert also. JK.

Here's how I understand it.. It started out as a day to celebrate the souls of those who have passed on, which why it was called "All Souls Day", or "All Hallows Eve" (because 'hallow' means holy)..... Now later on they started wearing scary masks to ward off evil spirits on that day because they thought the celebration of souls would also attract evil spirits...

Fast forward to today... Now its just a big commercialized holiday where kids dress up in costumes and go around begging for candy. The candy part is probably what's left of the big celebration in the original holiday.

I can see an argument against Halloween, but I enjoyed it as a kid and don't really see a problem with it.

I don't think a kid is going to go to hell because you gave him a Snickers. I do think it's kind of silly for adults to continue to celebrate it.

My children never celebrated Halloween. We did substitute a Harvest party and focused on things like Pilgrims and such as a pre-Thanksgiving kind of thing.

If one is convinced in their heart Halloween is wrong they should avoid it. The soul of a child is worth far more than a candy bar. My children always ate too much candy even without Halloween.

It would not be proper to lecture anyone about this but do not allow your moral convictions to be formed by what others do or do not.

For the cause of Christ
